A new decade? Obviously. we can make an arbitrary beginning of a ten-year period anywhere we like, and any day of the year is the the tenth anniversary of the day ten years ago, but do we normally start counting things by starting at zero? I tried this with my sons, by asking them to count to ten: both started at 1 and finished at 10, rather than starting at 0 and finishing at 9.
Last year was certainly the tenth year of the 2000s but this year is the last year of the first decade of the twenty-first century.
Some potential advertisers might be impressed by this chart.
Maybe Accuweather, or some other purveyor of meteorological products or services.
WUWT consumer segment comprising (guessing):
– generally male
– quite well educated, practical
– median age 48
– finicky, cautious buyers,
– who demand quality, and proof thereof
– not impulse buyers
– not trend buyers
Compare to RealClimate segment
– generally male
– overly educated, elite
– median age 48
– impulse buyers
– don’t question quality,
– never complain, no matter how bad the product

They just dont teach Quizzinaire any more. No one knows what a whole number is.
Back in the day there were great Primary math and science tools. Awesome teaching tools. There were awesome toys mechano, before leggo. You learnt science on two levels the person and the science.
But CEOs and a faux business model with no Key Result Areas and carers and lurvers, decided because they could write a sentence they knew math and science.
The lurvers and the carers with hands in everyone’s wallet came.

Is this not proof (at least to a confidence of 90%) that the popularity of this site is the main driver of climate change in the last few years? I see a clear correlation, and that’s enough for me.

Of course no one is questioning the clear correlation between the popularity of WUWT and world surface temps – and no one is questioning the obvious implication that WUWT popularity is the main driver of climate. But we have a divergence problem now. Observed temps have remained static (or cooled slightly) for several years, and WUWT popularity is skyrocketing.
I can’t explain that, and it’s a travesty that I can’t.

My knowledge of science is (to be kind) scant but with only one noted exception, I fall squarely into P Gosselin’s segment categorisations:
– generally male (decidedly female)
– quite well educated, practical
– median age 48
– finicky, cautious buyers,
– who demand quality, and proof thereof
– not impulse buyers
– not trend buyers
Thanks to a very practical chemical engineering father, who taught us to question, question, question, I didn’t simply buy into the AGW meme when results seemed to give it the lie. When I make environmentally friendly decisions and implement them it will be because I can see the economic benefits (economics major here) and not because of any scare tactics which are thrust at me.
Until I stumbled across WUWT I felt like I was drowning in a sea of either too technical or overly simplistic explanations which did not satisfy me.
I’ve found a home here and pop in every day for my ‘fix’. Joe Bastardi’s http://www.AccuWeather.com is another favourite. Thank you from a warm and wet South Africa.
