Gore cancels on Copenhagen lecture – leaves ticketholders in a lurch

It seems the uncertainty about Copenhagen is growing. When Al baby pulls the plug, you know it’s hosed.

From Berlingske: Al Gore cancels lecture during COP15

Al Gore cancels lecture during COP15

Looks like they will get a refund though. Might be worth more as a collectors item in ten years though.

I wonder how many people have shelled out $1200 to shake Al’s hand? Maybe not enough and he couldn’t cover the expenses for his private jet?

From the Washington Post:

“Have you ever shaken hands with an American vice president? If not, now is your chance. Meet Al Gore in Copenhagen during the UN Climate Change Conference,” notes the Danish tourism commission, which is helping Mr. Gore promote “Our Choice,” his newest book about global warming in all its alarming modalities.

“Tickets are available in different price ranges for the event. If you want it all, you can purchase a VIP ticket, where you get a chance to shake hands with Al Gore, get a copy of Our Choice and have your picture taken with him. The VIP event costs DKK 5,999 and includes drinks and a light snack.”

Wait, what? How much is that in American dollars? The currency conversion says it all, too: 5,999 Danish kroners is equivalent to $1,209.

“If you do not want to spend that much money, but still want to hear Al Gore speak about his latest book about climate challenges, you can purchase general tickets, ranging in price from DKK 199-1,499 depending on where in the room you want to sit,” the practical Danes advise. “There will be large screens, so that everyone will get a good view.”

Yah, such a deal.

The refund probably will be in (soon to be worthless) carbon credits.

Note that this illuminating opportunity is promoted not by the UN or by the Conference itself – but by the Danish Tourism Board. So Al has become a tourist attraction. Mickey Mouse will be losing sleep.

The real question is asked in the article. How many tickets did they sell? Who would pay to touch the hand of this man? And to have photographic evidence of it! It could qualify as one of life’s most embarrassing moments. You would ever after have that story to tell at parties when the game turned to sharing the dumbest thing you ever did. It would trump a lot of other stories, but brand you as naive no nothing too, so probably still not worth it. People are beginning to understand that it’s time to distance themselves from the global warming thing. Probably more people would pay $1,200 right now for cover that would give them plausible deniability than for something that would indelibly establish them as belonging to that vanishing species called a Warming Alarmist of the Al Gore Tribe.

Re: The new shell game will be: Guess which energy-efficient home Big Al is hiding in?
None. To the best of my knowledge, I believe he doesn’t actually own one. Unless of course you actually buy all his garbage about clean energy credits making up for his Tenesee monstrosity. I suppose he could try and rent the Bush ranch to hide out in for a while…

Copenhagen Conference will create 40 584 tons of carbon footprint. What hypocrites.
Life is a lot lighter now, that finally the deception has been exposed. I get up easier in the morning.

I think Al was spooked in Chicago and is now afraid of people.

It’s Climategate blowback.
He’s already begun feeling the heat (and it’s not from any climate warming) in the form of increasingly vocal protests everytime he appears to speak. Sure to get worse as the depth and breadth of Climategate sinks into the public consciousness.
Gives new meaning to “hide the decline”!

Al knows that he would have been asked about the CRU e-mails. Since one of them (1217431501) sounds just like his latest rantings, I’m sure he would have been asked if he was bcc:-ed.

Nothing about this in the MSM”….
That’s because he doesn’t sell anymore…How pitiful!

I’m embarassed to say this. Hmm… Where do I begin?
Many years ago, before I ever heard of Global Climate Warming Change and Hope and So Forth, I re-named an unmentionable part of my anatomy. I had originally named it Little Elvis, but felt badly that the accessories had no name of their own.
So, in a fit of ingenuity (?), I named the entire nether region Big Al and the Boys. The more accurate name, Medium-sized Al and the Boys, lacked sonority.

This is huge. Gore never misses an opportunity to rub elbows with the elitists in this realm. He must have done the “final run” on his presentation in front of some insiders, and someone had the nerve to say “Al, given the CRU revelation, this is a bunch of bulls***.”
Duck and Cover time.

CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, and others need to be investigated and indicted as accomplices in the Climategate fraud, and have their FCC licenses revoked for their participation in perpetuating the fraud.
The power of the MSM to influence the minds of the public and brainwash the listeners is a documented scientific fact therefore, they must be held to a higher standard when broadcasting and be held to account for the lies of omission they take part in as well as the pervasive political one sided agenda they push.
FCC rules have been violated by not reporting on the Climategate scandal and their crime is obvious. The public must demand an investigation of the MSM.

Hey
Couldn’t you line up Sarah Palin to tell them all that the ice on the NW of Alaska is forming really, really fast this year?
The NSIDC satellite pictures show it.
So it must be true, mustn’t it??
Any locals on your blogosphere able to provide direct visual confirmation??
Course, for the interests of fairness, you’d better bring an Indian from Churchill to say that Hudson Bay’s taking its time to refreeze this winter….
And hey: fly in the Veep of Intrawest to peddle Olympic packages for 2010 in Whistler. The snow in November’s been so great only the pineapple to beat all pineapples will make the event anything other than awesome…..
Al’ll be at Whistler, after all. Cruise the blues, then schmooze the IB crews, eh? Get that billion dollar CCS IPO away, Al!! Wall Street still loves ya baby!!
And now I’ve alerted him to Churchill, he’ll be flying in there to make a movie like yesterday, won’t he??
Maybe he and Tiger should meet up to compare notes, eh?
The greatest star on the block going through some ‘local difficulties’……..
Dear me….

Piers Corbyn is forecasting the Gore effect:
“WeatherAction releases free long range forecast for Copenhagen
Climate summit to be hit by blustery deluges, probably turning to snow or blizzards and icy blasts in the region at times – especially heavy when President Obama visits”

I’d pay him to shut up!
Is the mood music getting to Al Goreballs?
I really do hope so, sincerely!
Delingpole going head to head with Monbiot tonight.
Monbiot is a smooth talker, and Delingpole is not so self assured, hope he’s ‘genned’ up on some of the science, which is a difficult ask given the subject is so vast.
Anyway I’ve wished him – James Delingpole good luck.

I read that the conference is going to be powered by Danish windmills. If Al doesn’t show up, who’s going to provide the wind?
