Climategate protester pwn3d CBC on live TV

How interesting that it has now risen to this level. Climategate? Quel Climategate?

This is a Radio Canada (RDI) reporter doing a live standup on CBC. That’s always a tough gig, I’ve done hundreds and you never know what the public around you is going to do.

Once I had to shove a person out of the shot who was grabbing for the microphone.

This of course is mild by comparison, but funny nonetheless.

The Toronto Sun had an article in Nov. 26th by Lorrie Goldstein
“Why ClimateGate won’t stop Greens”‘

Canada Free Press has great coverage, but only comes in internet version.

Mike from Canmore (20:21:30) :
We listen to the French Radio-Canada from Vancouver (CBUF-FM) and never they haven talked about it since the leak. They talked about global warming every day… only the bad of course… but the person in that station that is the real gate keeper is Pascal Guillon. He’s the talking head for the government apparently. He has done the same thing with every single important issue, even 9/11.
By the way, the journalist above was talking about the fact that apparently Canada got some more 5000 medical doctors in the system. Looks like somebody wants to stop a flood of medical doctors from immigrating in Canada because the Harper government said they were going to relax the rules of immigration so that people can actually work in their field once they come into Canada… for now, most of them, once they arrive in Canada, can’t perform their respective jobs even though they were accepted based on their respective formations.

Dr A Burns (20:26:18) :
ClimateGate now tally 11,400,000…..ClimateGate is now bigger than “global warming” with only 9,880,000 hits.
What an amazing take on this Dr Burns!

K (20:12:08) ” http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2009/11/26/climate-change-hack.html […] I hope someone’s head rolls for this.”
Thanks for pointing that out. It should be a clue to many Canadians who are following this thread that CBC (left-wing) is breaking the story before CTV (right-wing). It’s not going to help the case of nonalarmists to set unrealistic expectations. I would be interested in hearing your assessment of how you think the (numerous) comments under the story might affect the proportion of Canadians who oppose a left-wing coalition; from a strategic point of view, that is what Canadian right-wing calculations will be based upon, since the left-vote is divided over 4 parties. In generating a realistic assessment, keep in mind that some people hold religious beliefs about this subject.
FYI for non-Canadians: The right-wing has been controlling the country with only ~35% support due to the 4-way division of the left-vote. Interestingly, ~70% of Canadians oppose a left-wing coalition, so Canadians will be interested in anything that might shift that number closer to 50%. Trenberth is wise to caution of a potential backlash if attacks appear overly-vexatious. From a Canadian perspective, I advise more coy restraint, less hyperpartisan mudslinging, and a return to focus on natural climate variations, which is where the real money is.

A few commenters have said there is little coverage in the BBC on ClimateGate. But I’ve got another wonderful video of Fred Singer in an interview on BBC. The issue seems to be handled fairly in this BBC program. Bob Watson works at East Anglia University. He looks uncomfortable.

Yeah, Gene, it lacks the ring of truth. Or maybe the ring of relevance. Not sure why.

“not one major MSM outlet has reported extensively on this story,”
I think some of them are actually startled and shaken by what has been revealed, and scared to say how shocked they are. I don’t think it’s necessarily an attempt to downplay the story.
Incidentally, it was only the Washington Post that made a big stink about Watergate, at first. Their charges weren’t given a big play in other papers, just cursory mentions, until things really heated up.

And some interesting snippets from one of interview reports:
“The climate science website RealClimate sees the CRU computer raid as the latest attempt by lobbyists to discredit mainstream climate science at a critical time.
It explains in detail what it says is the legitimate scientific rationale behind some of the apparently incriminating emails, and says they offer a glimpse into the real world of science.”

I think that, as I’ve said all along, some of the CRU’s seemingly incriminating statements have an innocent explanation, and that we should be explicit about what they are. We should not open ourselves to counter-punching and being discredited by being too accusatory. I also said that Phil Clark’s (SP?) list of justification for those statements should be posted as a thread here and responded to, with concessions offered to the points on which he’s correct.
It’s not too late.

Very interesting article in Maclean’s from Mark Steyn, the “science” of global warming, maybe the lazy journalists of the CBC-Radio-Canada and other MSM will wake up and start reporting something else than the official IPCC line. And start asking hard questions to the like of Susuki and al instead of the puff balls they usually lobe at them.

“The right-wing has been controlling the country with only ~35% support due to the 4-way division of the left-vote.”
It sounds as though Canada needs an “instant runoff” voting system (losing candidates’ votes are reassigned to the voter’s next choice, starting with the elimination of the poorest vote-getter), which is more feasible than heretofore with the advent of computerized voting.

Paul Vaughn:
If I interpret your comments above correctly, I agree. I think Harper’s low key / follow the American’s / ‘let’s not destroy the economy’ approach to this issue is brilliant. I have little doubt what the PM truly believes regarding AGW in his heart of hearts, but he needs to play his cards correctly so that we don’t train wreck the country, as is happening currently in Oz. Fortunately, the Libs don’t seem to be able to differentiate on policy, so their hysterical rhetoric makes the government look measured and reasonable.

The same thing goes on here in Norway. I think i have only seen two single newspapers report this story and one of those are not subsided by government. Nearly all media here that release newspaper in paper form get subsides from government here. 🙁
It is really sick how much control politicians have of media these days. I never knew how bad it was until now.

Gore WAS chased by protesters. Want some proof with pictures and quotes? Of course, try this…

Al Gore Chased From Chicago Book Signing
Al Gore is still out there peddling his lies about global warming, even in the face of recent revelations that the whole thing is a big fraud.
Here are a couple of reports (below) of how some folks in Chicago responded on Tuesday Nov. 24 to Gore’s brazen perpetuation of what he knows to be false. (We were the first to give you a heads up about this event.) We wondered on Tuesday whether Gore would be apologetic for the massive fraud that he and others have been perpetrating on the world for years now, especially in light of last week’s revelation of emails that show that climate data was deliberately manipulated and falsified. Predictably, he was not. Prediction: Gore will continue to see increasingly large protests, like that in Chicago,he continues to promote one of the biggest and most cynical hoaxes in human history.

Paul – I want my reporting to be neither right-wing nor left-wing. I want a straight report. I had a great deal of respect for Canadian news organizations, especially the CBC – until I see this type of unsubstantiated rubbish. I had a great deal of sympathy for the CBC when its funding was cut back by the government. But if they can’t do a fair report without turning it into propaganda, then I could care less if the government cuts all their funding.

Just an example of the one sided and unbalanced news coverage at CBC on climate change as Lawrence Solomon found out. David Suzuki seems to have the inside track at CBC . My impression of CBC on science and climate change is that they lack informed reporters who can tackle climate change honestly and fairly so they seem to just repeat what Suzuki and IPCC says instead of getting a wider point of view and letting the public decide what is real . Thank goodness we have National Post in Canada .It was the Suzuki foundation that was telling the public that Canadian winters would soon be a washout for winter sports . All this makes for poor journalism and a very misinformed public as a result.

Re: K (09:52:59)
The point I was trying to make is that it is the comments under the story that influence public opinion. Many people wouldn’t even bother reading a CBC story, but would be interested in reading the comments below (for example to see if they appear censored). I see the deterioration of CBC as arising from a counter-balancing backlash against what CTV is doing. If one “averages” the 2 sets of opposing bias, one may be closer to the truth (but certainly not at the truth).

Jeremy….But of course, it’s somehow perfectly acceptable when major media organizations choose not to cover scandals in political arenas that are demanding billions of our dollars.
Right … and remember that the CBC is the same organization that played MIchael Moore’s piece of trash Fahrencrap 9/11. I write my MP regularly about the CBC and how I’m sick as a taxpayer funding this garbage and I recommend that everyone does the same. The fact that my tax dollars were sent to Michael Moore is about as repugnant as it gets.
Regarding the lamestream ‘not reporting on this story’, of course they are not. They are so heavily invested in the concept of promoting glowbull warmongering and have been (are) in lockstep with the IPCC/CRU at each step of the way …. so they can’t report on it and no one should expect them to. Frankly, this entire episode is an opportunity to drive a nail in their coffin and send them the way of the dinosaurs.

K….Notwhere in the contents does it explain how hackers skewed the emails. It is not acceptable that an agency funded by taxpayers would show such bias reporting. I hope someone’s head rolls for this.
Heads won’t roll unless you and everyone else create a big fuss about it with your MP. Write her/him and copy the PM’s office along with the head of the CBC. Will it do any good? What do you think would happen if 20,000,000 other Canadians do the same? What if only 1,000,000 do that? Personally, my letters have already gone but what I want is something different…. I don’t want heads to roll, I want the CBC defunded and out of the public sector entirely. CTV is just as bad but at least I’m not paying for them with my tax dollars. The climediagate is the perfect time for the activists to get rolling.
