10 million page views

10to7th_power

Overnight, WUWT hit a new milestone with 10 million page views.

As of this writing, according to the WordPress internal counter shown in the ride sidebar, I’m at 10,016,144 page views.

This is since September of 2007. I’m on track this month to hit 1.4 million page views, which will be another new record if it happens.

Using an external free service, Sitemeter, it shows 9,104,257 but I also started it a bit later. Total unique visits according to sitemeter have been 6,141,642.

Not too shabby. A million here, a million there, and pretty soon it adds up to real traffic. Recently it was pointed out to me that my traffic now exceeds the host newspaper which gave rise to my blog, the Chico Enterprise Record, on which I started my first blog in November 2006 on their www.norcalblogs.com website.

I owe a debt of thanks to the ChicoER,  my guest contributors, volunteer moderators, and of course you, the readers. – Anthony

“Scientists at the Copenhagen Climate Congress this week said the IPCC may have underestimated the scale of the problem, and that emissions since 2000 have risen much faster than expected.”
Well that explains all the global warming! Oh….. it’s getting COLDER?! Well, it must be natural variability, since we know that only goes one way……

Sorry to keep spamming this post, but that article just got me going……
What is the basis for their conclusion??????? Where’s the beef?! Or, as Robin Williams said in the ‘Live on Broadway’ stand-up “Excuse me. Can I have a clue?!”

The year 2019
Planet cooling now for 20 years.
Al Gore says the sea rise has already been 75 feet.
AGW proponents don’t care if no one can see it and insist warming has happened because too many stupid people are visiting denialists blogs.
WUWT reaches 7 Billion views

This folows the questioning of the science behind “Global warming” I think most serious scientist who believe in AGW would agree with this anyway?

BTW Pielke’s site just put up a paper which is much more reasonable re: potential problems with pollution re local climate which I think most skeptics might agree with (and AGW’s) if they only gave up on the Co2 story….

Congratulations, Anthony.
In honor of this accomplishment, and to facilitate your on-going need for Troll-Control, I’m sending you the new, super-sized “Moose-B-Gone.” Apply generously.

Congratulations on reaching the 10mil. milestone. You deserve it. First thing I do every morning is go online to check out what’s new on your website and have done so since June 2008 when Christopher Booker mentioned WUWT in the Sunday Telegraph.
Keep up the good work, you’re getting more converts every day.

Congratulations on the 10 million mark. I suspect that one reason why your blog is so popular is that you’ve managed to keep the site highly informative and based on sound science, while at the same time avoiding emotional outbursts and name-calling. So many other web sites, on both sides of the argument, succumb to mud-slinging and personal abuse.
So please do keep up the high standard of reporting – with 10 million visitors you are clearly having an influence in what is a very difficult argument to win.

Claude Harvey (18:43:17) :
At what point does popularity drive one into “the mainstream” by definition? Can a counter-revolutionary cad maintain his rebel identity when the masses are hauling him about on their shoulders and mothers want him to kiss their babies? At what point does he begin to court the idolatry? Dangerous territory for a contrarian!
You misunderstand. This site has nothing to with being “counter-revolutionary” or “contrarian”, though AGWers might try to spin it that way, since they’ve been practicing pseudo-scientific ideology for so long that they have forgotten what true science actually is.
There is no harm in thanking Anthony for what he has done here with this site. That isn’t idolatry. But, we also recognize the excellent work and dedication of the mods and the contributors, all of which attracts a high level of both readership and commentary.
Well done, Anthony, contributors, mods, and others who make this site a top-notch one.

Mr. Watts,
what is the estimated cost for you to move to a fixed server ?
Please let us know.
I am afraid to highlight this comment because I truly do not want any change. I love you just the way you are. Also I can only imagine how many blog services WordPress handles silently and for free behind the scenes. But — if you could be completely independent and keep giving us more of the same!?!?! Is there any reasonable price tag to your becoming a phenomenon, a self-supporting blog in every way?

Congrats! Just found this site a month ago. I like hearing professionals talk shop, even when it’s mostly over my head, and I greatly appreciate the civility here, even when the debate is overtly political (as the AGW issue has become, unfortunately). I guess we have the moderators to thank for enforcing civility. It is very easy for trolls to take over unmoderated sites, by using a combination of ad hominem attacks and spurious argumentation, but it won’t happen here.
BTW, it would be nice if the e-mail notification link actually brought you back to the new comment instead of the top of the thread. But maybe WordPress doesn’t support that. I really would like a Quote button, too. . .

Congratulations!, there will be many bidders to buy WUWT!….one in particular, so you must put a limit on the weight of possible bidders. 🙂

Ooops! I missed this yesterday but that was only because of that beautiful game of rugby being played equally beautifully by (for a change) England beating France 34-10, Couldn’t resist! The French probably aren’t used to the heat that we get from AGW in the UK. This is wonderful news Congratulations on an equally magnificent score!
Now, the problem. How are we going to stop that half-wit Hansen tainting these shores once again so soon when he is due to attend an AGW Rally in Coventry, where I for one would dearly love to send him, permanently! We don’t send our idiots over to you so why do it to us? You won the War of Rebellion, oh all right the Revolution, but there’s no need to be horrid to us after all it was a long time ago. Keep Hansen over there, don’t let him come here. I have run this rally scenario thro’ my highly accurate circulation model & I predict that this rally will get all but 24hour 7 days a week coverage on every msm network & outlet in the UK, front page stuff & all that!
The screaming from Copenhagen is deafening & is clearly one of panic. Not because the Climate is going to be catastrophically changing, but because their funding will dissappear for good, & they’ll have to fend for themselves in the realworld instead of relying on taxpayers handouts! Are there really 2500 scientists there? This number seems to be very familiar so they must be exactly the same people who write the IPCC SPMs?
Again, well done WUWT. Keep the science coming. You are so lucky you Americans living in a free country with a real FYI law in force. Ours is a limpwristed wishy-washy affair by comparison so the real truth never gets out.

Any idea when a transcript of events will be available from the ICCC in New York?

Imagine if you got 1 cent per hit.
That wouldn’t be small fry…at least until the current administration got its hand on it!

I found this blog by reading the top-notch Canadian blog, small dead animals. Kate at sda started linking to WUWT close to a year ago. It is most enjoyable to read Kate’s wry genius, Anthony’s humble genius, and the scores of everyday genius in the comments at both blogs. My hat is off to all of you.

Not bad for a climate heretic weather guy. I reckon those at the real bad science website are green with envy!
