10 million page views

10to7th_power

Overnight, WUWT hit a new milestone with 10 million page views.

As of this writing, according to the WordPress internal counter shown in the ride sidebar, I’m at 10,016,144 page views.

This is since September of 2007. I’m on track this month to hit 1.4 million page views, which will be another new record if it happens.

Using an external free service, Sitemeter, it shows 9,104,257 but I also started it a bit later. Total unique visits according to sitemeter have been 6,141,642.

Not too shabby. A million here, a million there, and pretty soon it adds up to real traffic. Recently it was pointed out to me that my traffic now exceeds the host newspaper which gave rise to my blog, the Chico Enterprise Record, on which I started my first blog in November 2006 on their www.norcalblogs.com website.

I owe a debt of thanks to the ChicoER,  my guest contributors, volunteer moderators, and of course you, the readers. – Anthony

Psst. I think it should be 10 to the 6th exponent or 1 to the 7th. But anyway, congratulations!

That’s about 11,000 uniques a day. Me thinks you deserve a lot more than that and so does the subject!
How about a Digg link at the bottom of each article?

Your site has become part of my mandatory daily reading on the web. I learn more about not only climate but other disciplines than I could by any other means.
The ability of thousands of interested observers to scour the net and draw useful information to a common point, for people to view and evaluate is one of the strengths of a neutral and respectful forum. Your forum is a valuable resource and much appreciated — especially all the hidden work and over head necessary to make it work so smoothly.
Well Done!

Is it possible to get an edit button for our posts 😉
My eyes are not good at reading computer monitors and it takes a while for me to notice I made typos, etc.
REPLY: No, not until I move WUWT off to a fixed server. Currently I’m hosting on wordpress.com free service which does not allow for a preview function. – Anthony

Your blog is addictive…
congratulations.
PS.
It would be nice if you could separate each comment with a better design because sometimes I get lost when scrolling down.
Also User Profiles would be great.

That calls for a big fat tip in the tip jar,. C’mon people hit the tip jar NOW!!!

More importantly, you have achieved something impossible without the dedication of yourself, and your team, and the web–you’ve overturned what otherwise would have been lies and misinformation just by the force of argument and scientific skepticism. I’ve learned so much from this site, and recommend it to just about anyone I meet in the hope that more minds can be opened to what science is really about.
You deserve your success, and may you have much more.

REPLY: Charles, no worries, he’s just a local political hack with a failed blog who dislikes me but uses this fake name in some silly attempt to hide his identity. – Anthony

Thank God there aren’t 10^7 comments to read through. Hmm, you’re going to reach 10^5 in a few hundred more, you’re at 99,520 now. No wonder I don’t have a life!
Uh, Tom – 10^7 = 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 10, 1^7 is 1.

Anthony,
Congratulations and THANK YOU (and mods) for your dedication and hard work. It WILL pay off.
Are you sure Mann is not behind the stats? Okay I shouldn’t joke about such a happy occasion.
Well done … keep it up .. and thanks again!

Tom (11:36:17) :
Psst. I think it should be 10 to the 6th exponent or 1 to the 7th.

Psst. Think again 🙂
10^6 = 1 million.
1^7 = 1 (one)
Congratulations and many thanks again Anthony for your site. I have recently failed to pay my subscription to a printed science magazine as I get 10^6 times as much quality info here.

Very impressive! If all ten million readers gave $1 to the tip jar, it would do a world of good.
(A lot cheaper than the $1,000,000 each and every reader would have to give to pay off the US National Debt.)

A buck to WUWT is a much better investment. Imagine the personal $$ payback from potentially helping to stop cap and trade.

10 million page views at $1 each is almost like real money!
Congratulations, Anthony.

You should put Google Analytics on your site to get some better insights into where all the traffic is from/who the visitors are. Then you could post some really interesting stats!

I notice that the title of this thread was accidentally indented by one space in the list of titles at the upper right. I suggest that this be done deliberately hereafter on all titles (in fact, indent them by two or three spaces), so that readers can see where one item ends and the next begins. At present they all run together.

Always informative, always inclusive, always polite.
I think these are the reasons for your success Anthony.
Well done and thank you – the next order of magnitude is not far off!
