Dr. Roger Pielke Sr. is retiring his blog. While he plans to focus more on research papers and a new book he is working on, I have no doubt he will continue to provide useful and insightful information to the online climate climate community at large.

‘ficus’ – I don’t give a fig! 😉
Well, that’s a loss. He first put up a blog w/replies, was harassed endlessly by some WWF lackey there & had to end the replies. Now this…
Damn, I hope he’ll leave it online as a resource!
*clickety*
Ah – relief, he says he will.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo …
That’s a loss to the Climate Science community. I hope he will write a column or report here on occasion. And it would also be nice if he showed up as a commenter here and at CA when his muse is so inclined. He has much to contribute.
I have no doubt he will continue to provide useful information to the online CLIMATE CLIMATE community at large.

lose a climate
From July 2005! It seems like yesterday!
Thank you for prompting such an efflorescence of informed debate and best wishes for your future researches.
Dr. Pielke’s blog is the closest thing there is to debate between the two polarized camps I’ve seen. His format to use his blog to invite comment and rebuttle by experts in the field has not been duplicated anywhere. This will be sorely missed. Perhaps the one possibility is an new site that has been put together between KNMI and the Netherlands envrionmental agency called climatedialogue.org that will try to get both sides talking.
Some negative influence from the article posted on Bisho Hill yesterday?
Intelectual disection of Climate Sceptics and all that go by the name. Casting literary methods as something distasteful, almost abusive and manipulative, yet concluding that “true” science (the sort that is not biased in his opininon) is not enough and that “humanities” is also needed. There is no room for morals or ethics, nor mythology he says.
I hope the AGW intelectualism has not been the cause of the decision to retire the blog.
In ancient greece there was a time when logic (logos) ruled. It didn’t last so long because it got abused. It was seen as a way to manipulate society and the ‘powers that be’. In the end, society learned to distrust logic and returned instead to myths, fables and mystical experiences.
The logic and reason that has grown and become established in the last 400 years is now under threat by those using it in the same way the greeks did, to win an argument convincingly, knowing that it was/is wrong. As the AGW propoganda machine rolls on, those who hold a different opinion are likened to those with a psycholigical illness that needs treatment. Any form of intimidation of AGW sceptics is a logically good one, a reasonable necessity under the fake dire circumastances for those on the bandwagon.
My best wishes for Dr. Roger Pielke Sr. His blog was a reference for climate sanity.
I’m looking forward to his new papers.
Good luck sir !!!
Thanks for checking, Tallbloke. You’ve found the good news in the bad news. I, too, hope that Roger Pielke Sr. will weigh in here occasionally in some form. Others wil carry the flag, though is blog will be missed.
I suspect that he will focus rather than ficus.
Whatever, the blog will be missed.
Best of luck in whatever he chooses to direct his impressive talents to.
Not surprised. A few years ago he went to a “no comments” mode (after that I sort of lost interest, don’t know if he ever turned comments back on). Running a blog can be time consuming.
This is a huge loss for science and AGW scepticism. For years I have pointed to Pielke, Sr., as the best climate scientist in the world and as the model for climate scientists. I hope that he will inform WUWT readers about his ongoing publications.
Thank You, Dr. Pielke, for being the center that holds in all the intellectual storms that make up climate science and AGW propaganda.
Dr. Pielke, thank you for your time, dedication and integrity as shown by your website. It will be sorely missed.
A sad loss indeed! His insightful views will be sorely missed. He is one who clearly exhibited the chararcteristics of a true scientist. I wish him total success in all his future endeavours.
When Global Warming propaganda first reached me and I wanted to find someone else who had an opinon on it, Sr.’s was the first blog I discovered. The time passes quickly these days.
Andrew
Thanks to Dr. Pielke for all the effort, I was always amazed at the amount of material he presented on a regular. He certainly has done his share of communication on the subject of AGW Science (capital S).
Hopefully he will find time to revive it later.
Sorely missed, more so than his junior, that’s for sure.
Good bye, and thanks for the fish.
So long Dr Pielke, Sr. I for one of many will miss your blog.
I thank Dr. Pielke for his tremendous contribution to reasoned discourse and education of the public on climate change issues and will look forward to publications reporting his continuing research.
Perhaps we’ll see an occasional guest post here ….
I want to add my appreciation to Dr Pielke for his calm, rational and sound science. Clearly Dr Pielke is a real climate scientist, one whom many listen to with a great deal of respect.
