Escalating climate language: 25 years ago, 28°C was “pleasant”…today it is called “extremely dangerous”.
The following video link compares two different forecasts for warm summer weather but are allegedly from a couple of decades apart. I can’t be sure of their authenticity, but the language tone differences between back then and today are definitely accurate! Today, the media make summertime in Germany appear as extremely dangerous!

The first forecast by the German weather lady is from a couple of decades ago. Here’s what she reported:
Tomorrow we’ll be getting wonderful summer weather! Temperatures will rise to a pleasant 28 to 30 degrees Celsius [82 to 86°F]. Everywhere across the country, there will be plenty of sunshine and only a few fair-weather clouds. Perfect weather for heading to the lake or having an ice cream in the beer garden. Enjoy the summer!”
Versus today
The second made recently by a German weatherman forecasts almost exactly the same weather conditions, but with alarmist tones:
Tomorrow we are facing an extremely dangerous heatwave! Temperatures will climb to a hazardous 28 to 30 degrees Celsius [82 to 86°F]. UV radiation will be extremely high, with an increased risk of high ozone levels and heatstroke. Avoid direct sunlight where possible, stay hydrated, and look out for the elderly and young children.”
For whose benefit is the “escalation”..?

Grifters benefit from crisis language or tone. Because there is an implied crisis, the state “needs” to invest in their product or service which will supposedly ameliorate the “problem.” Of course, the problem could be real, and appropriate organizations may be in position to address it. In such a case, both potential victims of a problem as well as employees and owners of a selected organization will benefit.
In this case, there is nothing that a single country or even continent can be do to “fix” the climate today or even fifty years from now. All of the dwellers of all the continents could do something that would impact a century or more from now, but at the expense of tens of millions of their poorest residents, by deepening their poverty and retarding their economic advancement.
Of course, you already know this. If the weather forecasts are real as presented, a better question is: What motivated the second weathercaster to introduce crisis language and tone? What motivated you to comment?

The latest I have seen is talking about “climate pollution.”
A few days ago here in Milwaukee a squall line of thunder storms roared over the city. CBS TV cancelled regular programming for a three hour scare fest about tornado warnings & flooding. The weather girl repeated herself every few minutes Blah blah blah blah. A crawl at the bottom of the screen would have been sufficient. It was windy for a about 5 minutes and there was 1/2″ in the rain gauge the next morning.
A few years ago a “tornado warning” meant there was a funnel on the ground, while “tornado watch” meant the conditions were considered favorable for such a cyclone to form.
Today watch is still the same, but warning comes with take shelter immediately, etc.
So if it is possible a tornado might form, how are watch and warning different?
And if the tornado touches down, what is the term for that?
Weather reports of severe storms has devolved into Chicken Little pronouncements.
The public has been conditioned by all the Atlantic hurricanes we have been having this season. /sarc
I don’t know what the situation is in Germany, but in France, the color coding of maps is based on deviations from seasonal averages recalculated every ten years. So an extremely mild winter compared with that average will appear in red on the map. It’s a methodological choice like any other, and there’s presumably nothing wrong with that. But when people, exasperated by alarmist announcements, exhortations to virtuous impoverishment (sorry, to “happy frugality”), and constant guilt-tripping, including when they want to have air conditioning installed in their homes, point out with a touch of ironic annoyance that “weather maps are excessively red,” they get treated like idiots by petty self-appointed arbiters of correctness. Yet it doesn’t cost much to explain the reason behind one use of color coding or another.
This “artistic ambiguity” surrounding the colors of weather maps obviously goes hand in hand with the prevailing alarmism, and the two things reinforce each other. Oh, dear!
For as long as they claim there is a climate crisis, a breakdown or an emergency, you can expect:

That is down to climate indoctrination and propaganda.
I guess the royal family has been on the cutting edge of climate correctness for years. I read an article recently that mentioned how many of them recycle their clothes–continuing to wear clothes over the years, having them retailed or altered to update or resize–rather than buying new. The same with furniture. Who knew?

haven’t seen a blue tone weather map since I was a kid.
The weather follows the same pattern as wars,
when country X is about to be attacked and leader Y suddenly turns Rouge.
A lot of negative scary propaganda pops out of nowhere and something has to be done to save the world from the biggest threat ever – while in fact nothing has changed except for the reporting.
The Horseshoe Plan in Yugoslavia, Scorched Earth in Lybia or WMD’s of Iraq, the Tonkin Incident – nothing like that ever existed or was a false flag like the gas attack in Syrian, done by the terrorists who now run the country.

Leftist media claimed there was no attack, while the USN would not expose their Elint capabilities to confirm the warning. Typical for Intel warfare at the time.

It hit 110F here in Oklahoma yesterday, according to the weatherman.
It rained a little this morning so temperatures are much better now.
Germany and the UK don’t know what a heatwave is.
We have had about 14 days in a row with temperatures 100F or higher so far this August. Some summers we double that number like in 2011 and 2012.
Even the rain won’t stop us from going over 100F again today. The forecast is for 102F.
Even the unions for outdoor workers stipulates it needs to get up to 35C before the crews should get out of the sun.
Here in northern Florida (almost Alabama!), we have been in the mid to upper 90’s (F) during the day for several weeks now. Even though I’m 70 miles from the Gulf, the humidity stays above 60%. Tuesday afternoon (8-18-26) at 2:00 PM, the heat index reached 131° F.
Even with the riding lawnmower, usually mow for 3 hours only in the early mornings or early evenings.

Yes, I’m doing my mowing in the early hours. We haven’t had a decent rain in about a month so the grass isn’t growing much.
Around here on the mid-Atlantic U.S., 86F is a nice summer day. Even 90F is a good day if the humidity is not too bad.

Yep I love when the weather is in the mid to low 80s, means my day in the factory will be bearable. It’s when you start seeing 95+ with high humidity that I start dreading it. Of course the factory runs about 10 to 15 degrees hotter than the out side, having 4 1.5 million BTU burners going all day will do that. Mid Atlantic gets hot with high humidity in the summer and nice and cold in the winter, best of both worlds.

As has been frequently noted on this site and others that view climate events realistically, the alarmists will jump on any variation in weather be it temperatures, precipitation, drought, storms, floods, forest fires, crop yield variations, etc. as sure-fire indications of a climate crisis. So the logical, realistic citizen just has to take this sort of contrived sensationalism for what it really is—just another in a a long list of scare tactics designed to convince people to take some sort of action that’s unnecessary in the first place.
