Clueless Climate Hypocrites Block Major Coal Port

Essay by Eric Worrall

Another year, another bunch of ignorant climate protestors.

Shipping movements disrupted as climate change protesters block coal ships from entering Port of Newcastle

By Courtney Yeandle and Nakita Jager

In short:

NSW police have arrested 141 people who attempted to block the shipping channel in Newcastle Harbour during Rising Tide protests, which began on Thursday.

Three people suspended themselves from a bulk carrier and unfurled a banner on Sunday morning.

What’s next?

Protesters will remain at a campsite at Foreshore Park until Tuesday.

One of the largest shipping ports on Australia’s east coast cancelled all shipping movements for three hours on Sunday following an on-water climate change protest.

Rising Tide said its demonstration has been successful after its paddle-outs forced two bulk carriers to turn around and not enter the port.

The Port of Newcastle confirmed the Ragna coal ship was turned back on Sunday afternoon.

Words fail me. If the protestors made an effort to avoid using the fossil fuel products they are complaining about I’d have some respect. But this protest, protestors making full use of the products of the industry they claim to oppose, is just a demonstration of how badly Australia’s education system is failing young people.

Eric, these gatherings are no more than free social events for dropkicks who can’t muster enough dough to go to the movies, let alone a lunch at the local pub’s beer garden.

All they ever achieve is a sunburnt neck, rendering themselves shining examples of the ‘red-necks’ they aspire to denigrate at every opportunity.

I would suggest they take a good look at themselves in a mirror, but their self-loathing would prevent them from experiencing such revealing impressions of themselves.

What a sad way to live your life.

” . . . no more than free social events for dropkicks . . .”

IMHO, you rate them far, far too highly.

What a glorious day for a paddle in the harbour, though. ! 🙂

Why do they never do this in mid-winter. 😉

Eric’s comment in his above article:
“Words fail me. If the protestors made an effort to avoid using the fossil fuel products they are complaining about I’d have some respect.”

Just excellent! I’ll also add this:
— Did they all avoid using gasoline or diesel fuel to arrive at their campsite?
— Did they all avoid using propane or any other campsite fuel (all derived from petroleum or natural gas) to heat their food at their campsite?
— Did they all eat food that was not cultivated/fertilized/transported-to-store without use of fossil fuel energy?
— Did they all ensure that the energy they used for producing light or communications or using portable computers (e.g, laterns, flashlights, cell phones, radios, batteries) came ONLY from green, renewable sources? No portable, fossil fuel-powered AC generators used at the campsite?

Those are, of course, rhetorical questions. I already know the answers to each using only two letters, each begins beginning with “n” and ending with “o”.

ROTFL!

From the photos, it seems that a lot of the fabrics they were wearing and living under were oil/gas products. Not much cotton or wool in sight.

You wake up in the morning on your fossil fuel inflatable matress inside your fossil fuel tent.
Put your fossil fuel shoes on,go outside to turn on your fossil fuel cooker to make some fossil fuel imported coffee before you use your fossil fuel brush and squeeze the toothpaste out of the fossil fuel tube.
Then walk to your fossil fuel rubber boat, pump it up with your fossil fuel pump just as your fossil fuel life jacket, before you use your fossil fuel paddle to protest a fossil fuel ship.
Once this is done you pull out your fossil fuel smartphone to tell the world about you fossil fuel protests before you drive home in you fossil fuel car.

Actually , being leftist *ankers.. they probably used one of the many fossil fuelled cafes along the foreshore to get their soy decaffs and vegan muffins.

Because a section of the University of Newcastle is in the inner city, it is very much a leftist/humanities student area..

I rarely go there nowadays.

I left a comment on a couple of youtube site to the effect that…

Everything in their pitiful, virtue-seeking lives is there BECAUSE OF fossil fuels.

Hypocrites are the worst kind of crites.

I avoid them at all costs. It makes no sense to argue with them. Their feelings always tell them what they must do.

Coal Wars Round 2: Oakland’s Legal Circus Continues..

.
A new ruling in Kentucky just reshaped Oakland’s billion-dollar coal lawsuit. Round 2 is here — and the stakes have never been higher.

Gotham Oakland – Season 2, Ep. #69 Oakland’s $673 Million Disaster: How “No Coal In Oakland” Bankrupted The City.

In this episode of Gotham Oakland, I break down how city officials bankrupted the city — all to please the Sierra Club and the “No Coal in Oakland” cult.

Pechenuk: Calls Out the Big Lie

Mindy Pechenuk testified today, Thursday, October 23, 2025 to the hearing on the Coal Terminal lawsuit. Pechenuk stated clearly Mayor Barbara Lee and the Oakland City Council are responsible for losing the city not only ten’s of millions of dollars in legal, but combined with billions of dollars of losses in skilled productive jobs and economic development for all of the residents of Oakland.”

“All of the money wasted in this lawsuit should have gone into stopping Fentanyl and other illegal drugs that have destroyed the children and the people of Oakland.”

Pechenuk says, ” I hold Mayor Barbara Lee accountable for this failure, along with City officials Rowena Brown, Carol Fife, Noel Gallo, Charlene Wang, and Ryan Richardson, who signed the “No Coal Pledge” and promoted the misleading “No Coal Campaign”.”

The Big Lie

The “No Coal” campaign falsely claimed that coal would increase asthma rates or worsen existing conditions among West Oakland children, relying on fear-mongering tactics unsupported by scientific evidence.
Think about this: we allow fentanyl to dominate our streets, open air drug markets all over East Oakland which are destroying and killing the lives of our Oaklanders, but we do not allow for good jobs and industry to grow in our Oakland, like the Coal Terminal.

The truth is, the coal that would be shipped to the Oakland terminal originates from Utah and Wyoming, often referred to in the industry as “clean coal” due to its lower sulfur content, as I recently discussed with Congressional staffers in Washington, D.C. A basic understanding of the science clarifies this. Why, then, have Oakland’s elected representatives consistently misled the public about this for over a decade without accountability?

Pechenuk’s message is clear: “Never Again” will these “Progressive Fakers” be allowed to lie to the people of Oakland with “fake science” that has left the city bankrupt and the people of Oakland desperate.

Let’s start on the Road to a Real Recovery.

Get the drug cartels and open air drug markets off our streets and bring the productive jobs, such as the Coal Terminal can do.

When I was piloting I had to take a ship loaded with coal to a coal fired power station during a strike by miners. They had surrounded the jetty with rowing boats joined together with wire ropes, thus circling the jetty.
I went to speak to the pickets before boarding the ship, explained that I was bound by law to berth the ship, and, due to the wind direction that night, in the process I would have to drop an anchor about 50 yards from the face of the jetty and I could not guarantee that one or more of their boats might get damaged.

I then boarded the ship and when I approached the jetty I found the place deserted.

I thought Australia was a coal exporter, where was the coal coming from? As for the worthless protesters they were interfering with a legal activity, the shippers were doing nothing wrong. I think a proper response would be to confiscate all of their belongings at the camp site their tents, sleeping gear, food, drinks, cars, trucks, kayaks, canoes, clothing,, everything. If it’s not okay for the shippers to engage in legal activity there is no reason for these mongrels to do what they want. I would let them keep their cell phones so they could phone their mom for a ride home, only after the phones were scanned for improper activity.

I gathered that the ships were coming to load coal not unload. Australia has plenty of coal and not many places to use it these days.

It’s an export port. The ship was indubitably coming in empty to pick up a load of coal for export.

Ships would have been empty, coming in to load coal from Port Waratah or Kooragang..

Protesting is a lifestyle and nothing more. As long as you have a holier than thou attitude and the time you’re part of the pack and that’s all they care about.

When public education systems persist in giving students one-sided explanations for climate change and the teachers themselves don’t know anything better, we can expect these types of demonstrations. What’s worse is the fact that most of these protestors are adults who’ve never taken the time to learn about the benefits of fossil fuels and their derivatives.
