More Subsidies Announced For Carbon Capture

From NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

By Paul Homewood

And who will pay for these jobs?

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/2800-skilled-jobs-in-wales-and-north-west-as-ccus-industry-grows

No costs have been disclosed yet, but these two schemes will be subsidised out of Ed Miliband’s £22 billion carbon capture fund, announced last year.

Producing electricity with a carbon capture unit bolted onto the power station by definition costs more, much more, than doing so without such a unit.

Carbon capture is an energy consuming process, so Connah’s Quay will use a lot more gas than a conventional CCGT does. On top of that, there is the CAPEX and OPEX involved in the carbon capture, as well as the cost of piping it all away.

So all of these 2800 jobs created will be non-jobs that produce no added value at all. Instead they will simply drain money and resources out of the real economy.

Full steam ahead with useless, wasteful CCUS, and ignore the Lake Nyos Effect (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Nyos). A small bubble of CO2 escaped from a volcanic lake and suffocated 1700 people and many more animals.
A release from a pressurized salt dome will be thousands of times larger. The death toll will be unimaginable. It cannot happen, say the pundits, but it can and it will.
Earthquakes happen, and releases will happen. History already shows that.
The salt dome storage of H2 is another example, a ‘hydrogen bomb’ – not nuclear, but as escaping H2 mixes with air, it becomes explosive. That cannot happen either.
Wanna bet? Remember the Lake Peigneur Effect (https://www.reddit.com/r/submechanophobia/comments/bc8qyp/diagram_of_the_lake_peigneur_disaster_check_out/), collapsing a ‘safe’ salt dome.
It is always SAFE, until it is not. But, do not let history get in the way of a financier making a ton of money from subsidized CCUS.

Britain needs to wake up. How many nuclear plants could be built for 22 billion pounds. This is just stupid.

Too much carbon has already been captured in the form of carbonate rocks. Anyway there is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect on our global climate system. The AGW hypothesis has been falsified by science.

Too much carbon has already been sequestored in the Earth’s crust in the form of carbonate rocks. There is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect ou our global climate systems. The AGW hypothesis has been falsified by science. This is all a matter of science.
