Casten added: “Millions, if not billions will die if we don’t address climate change; some will survive but if rivers keep moving, coasts keep eroding, fires keep burning we will be forced to become migratory. That is a choice.”
Extreme weather expert Dr. Roger Pielke Jr. reacted to Rep. Casten’s claims:
“Commenting on the NYT article, U.S. Representative Sean Casten (D-IL) Tweeted on X hyperbolically:

According to ChatGPT that implies more than 100 million deaths.

Well, at least now Rep. Sean Casten can’t claim ignorance of all the deaths caused by Stalin, Mao and Hitler combined.
Not even Rachel Carson could overtake Mao for deaths. Since ‘Silent Spring’ global malaria deaths have not reached 100 million (Grok says 56-96 million). In the US where DDT had already succeeded in wiping out malaria, total malaria deaths since ‘Silent Spring’ are estimated at 310-620. NB. those are not millions.
