The way I look at it is, we know there will be a Global Extinction Level Event if atmospheric CO2 drops a mere 270ppm below where we are now, to around 150ppm.

At the MLO in Hawaii, the concentration of CO2 is 439 ppmv in dry pure air. One cubic meter of this air has mass of 1.29 kg and contains a mere 0.862 grams of CO2 at STP. This small amount of CO2 in air can have no effect on weather and climate.

I am doing no disserve to the “skeptic side”. I am just providing useful information so skeptics can put down any of those uniformed people who have been lead to believe that CO2 causes global warming and is going to cause drastic climate change and who are causing have great economic harm and disruption in many countries.
For example, the New York Climate Act mandates that by 2030, 70% of electricity is to be generated by wind turbines and solar photovoltaic panels and that buildings over 25,000 square feet must stop using nat. gas or oil and instead use electricity for energy and power generation.
In California Gov. Gavin N. has mandated the phase out of gas and diesel-powered cars and light trucks by 2035. He has also banned the use gas-powered light machines. Because of the new environmental regulations, 12 of the 14 oil refineries have shut done. The remaining two refineries have announced closure in 2026. Founded 1880, Chevron had enough of these draconian environmental regulations and moved its headquarters to Houston, TX.
Consider “Just Stop Oil”. These ignorant youngsters have been defacing public and private property with paint, and disrupting traffic by blocking roadways with sit down protests but don’t consider the UK needs fossil fuels for heating during the cold winters.

I can explain on a whiteboard to anyone with half a brain how CO2 does in fact intercept outbound IR and retain energy within the earth system that otherwise would have escaped to space. I can also demonstrate via IPCC data that this has had no effect on global hurricane, flood, drought or wildfire trends. These are the true arguments. grams per cubic meter is completely irrelevant to the discussion. Does an IR photon have a free path to space with 420 ppm of CO2? It does NOT. It must be absorbed and re-emitted and/or xferred to other molecules by collision millions upon millions of times before it escapes to space.
Calculate the width of an IR photon then calculate the width of a CO2 molecule then calculate the chances of a photon hitting a CO2 molecule in one meter of air at 420 ppm. The chances of an upward bound IR photon of NOT being absorbed in one meter of air is about 0.00123%. In other words, there is well over a 99% chance that it will be absorbed and re-emitted multiple times in just one meter. The relative weight argument doesn’t hold water. The CO2 molecule absorbs and re-emitts, it does not get “full” nor does it get “tired”. Multiply this by the scale of the atmospheric air column and you should quickly see that relative weight has nothing to do with it.
Depicted another way, imagine looking at a cross section of the atmosphere where all molecules are clear and CO2 molecules are blue. You’d see pretty much nothing. Even with really good eyes you’re not going to see a spec of blue anywhere. Now look DOWN on that same cross section and you will see solid blue. SOLID BLUE. Scale matters. Absorbing and re-emitting forever without getting worn out matters. Relative mass has nothing to do with anything.

I know all about the IR spectroscopy you mentioned.
Shown in Fig. 7 is the IR absorption spectrum of a sample
of Philadelphia inner city air from 400 to 4000 wavenumbers (wns). This is the far IR. There are some additional peaks for H2O down to 200 wns. The FT-IR spectrometer has a cut off at 400 wns. The gas cell was an 7 cm Al cylinder with KBr windows.
Only the absorption peaks from 400 to 700 wns are involved in the greenhouse effect. In 1999 the concentration of CO2 was 370 ppmv at the MLO. The concentration of CO2 in the city air was not measured.
The absorbance of the CO2 peak at 667 wns is 0.025. If the cell was 700 cm (23 ft) in lenght, the absorbance would be 2.5 and 99+% of the IR light would be absorbed. What this means is that primary greenhouse effect takes place with the first few meter above the earth’s surface for CO2 and H2O.
Note how narrow CO2 peak is. It is absorbing a small amount of far IR energy.

I see you have abandoned your relative mass argument, a tacit admission that it was wrong. Now you’re banging about spectroscopy, admitting that is also correct.
What you get wrong is the “extinguished in the first few meters” myth. That’s been debunked over and over. Go up in altitude where it gets colder as you rise. Water vapour drops to nothing. Go higher in latitude. Water vaoour drops to nothing. Go to winter in high lats, high alts, water vapour drops to nothing. The energy absorbed below (by your own admission) doesn’t just disappear. Its still there. It still obeys SB Law and all the other laws of physics. If it is retained in the system then the system must be warmer and by SB Law rises to a higher temperature.
It is truly amazing to see someone reverse course entirely against their own argument, then get a new one completely wrong. Again, you get most of it right, but in your zeal to prove your original assertions via a different path you debunk your own original argument and your current one.
CO2 warms the earth. Live with it. Sensitivity is low, CO2 is plant food, a warmer earth is better for all life and its a calmer world with less hurricanes and other sever weather. Stick to the points that the data supports. Your shirt pocket piece of paper is wrong by your own admission.

Shown in the chart (See below) are plots of temperatures at the Furnace Creek weather station from in Death Valley from1922 to 2001. In 1922, the concentration of CO2 was ca. 303 ppmv (0.59 g CO2/cu. m.) and by 2001, the concentration of CO2 had increased to 371 ppmv (0.73 g CO2/cu. m.), but the was no corresponding increase in the surface air temperature at this remote desert. The reason there was no increase in surface air temperature with increasing CO2 concentration is due to the saturation of the absorption of IR light by the CO2 peak at 667 wavenumbers (See Fig 7.) The saturation of absorption occurs when the concentration of CO2 is 300 ppmv. IN 1920 the concentration of CO2 in air. was 300 ppm.

He shows that when the concentration of CO2 is 300 ppmv the absorption of IR light becomes saturated. This means increasing the concentration of CO2 above 300 ppmv will not result in surface air temperature.

When the EPA Endangerment Finding (EF) is rescinded, no one will be posting comments here and elsewhere on the greenhouse gas CO2, global warming and climate change. An IR photon has not width. Photons have zero volume and 0 rest mass. Photons are a quantum of energy related to valence electron energy states.
