Green New Deal Accelerates Germany’s Economic Decline…Growth Forecast Revised Downward

From the NoTricksZone

By P Gosselin

Germany’s economy expected to dip into recession as Green policies backfire.

Since a coalition of the SPD socialists, Green environmentalists and FDP liberals took over the government in late 2021, the German economy has been declining and business confidence eroding.

Degrowth

Today Blackout News reports that the German socialist/green/liberal government has revised its economic outlook downward once again.

Recall that in 2021 the economy recovered strongly, with GDP growth reaching 2.7%. But at the end of the year, the socialists, greens and liberals took over, pledging to implement a green revolution. Almost immediately the economy slowed to a growth of 1.9% in 2022 and an anemic 0.1% in 2023.

But nothing to worry about, Germany’s economic minister Robert Habeck (Greens) insisted. The malaise was all Russia’s fault, and Germany only needed to stay his green course. The troubles, after all, have little to do with Germany’s skyrocketing energy costs and his green policies. Things will surely improve.

Back to recession

Well, they haven’t. And today, things are getting worse by the minute. According to Blackout News:

Germany’s economic situation has deteriorated drastically this year. Instead of the expected growth, Economics Minister Robert Habeck is now forecasting a decline in economic output. Originally a plus of 0.3 percent was forecast, now a minus of 0.2 percent is being calculated. These new figures reflect the serious situation of the German economy.”

Habeck promises growth – starting next year!

Now, Habeck, who has no financial or economic education at all – see below, wants us to forget 2024 and is promising 1.1% growth for 2025 and a ruddy 1.6% for 2026. Habeck said in a recent interview. “The growth initiative of this federal government is a necessary first step.”

Minister is confident that the German economy will be able to grow more strongly in the coming years if his measures are fully implemented.

Grim future for the Greens

Habeck’s promises haven’t panned out in three years. yet he expects us to believe they will beginning next year. The air is getting very thin for Habeck, his fellow Greens and Socialists. Next year federal elections are taking place and the polls look as grim as the economy.

The liberal arts economist

Economics Minister Robert Habeck studied German language and philosophy and received a Masters Degree in literature and philosophy in 1996. He was awarded doctorate in 2000 and joined the ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS in 2002. Today he is Germany’s Federal Minister for Economics.

Sadly, they aren’t.
The kids have grown up for the most part cushioned in a wonderful affluent society where state sector makework jobs are plentiful, and green dreams are real.

Germany has leeched off Russian gas, immigrant Labour and the rest of the EU for so long its forgotten how to work.
The AFD will make huge strides and they are a bit too close to Putin for comfort.
Nothing we can do. Sit back and watch.

The taxis did not have meters.
Drivers charged what they could get away and insisted to be paid in cash
Never reported the cash to the tax man
Italy the same

The EU told Greece, you want another loan, first you install meters, plus a lot of other measures, then you get a loan.

Of course they had meters in cabs. However thats the maximum fare they can charge. Cash offer can come under that and be accepted

Germany imploding doom and gloom forecast #2425346346

Have you been to Germany recently? I have (Cologne, Berlin and Frankfurt). The contrast between the state of these cities today and what they were like thirty years ago is shocking.

I can’t argue with what you say about those 3 cities. I’ve never been to Berlin, it’s a very long time since I was in Frankfurt (1964) and it’s about 15 years since I was in Cologne. However. I have been to Germany most years since 1999. I wouldn’t describe any differences I see as “shocking”. This year I visited the Baltic coast and it was very busy with tourists, even in June. (Perhaps they were staying at home instead of going to Spain or Greece.) The motorways are as busy as ever, possibly busier. Still plenty of lorries on the roads. But on a fortnight’s visit you maybe cannot get a real impression of the overall situation and as a railway enthusiast I understand that freight traffic has fallen in recent years.

Rural and small town Germany is as beautiful as ever, but the decline and decay in the big cities is real. It isn’t limited to Germany, of course – many cities in Belgium and France are also in serious trouble.

His other “forecasts” for 2025, 26 will not be met either, as the German economy implodes.

Germany is in a death spiral as more and more companies go bankrupt, close down or move production out of Germany. Added to that, the educated workers up to around age 40 are leaving to find a better standard of living so the companies that are left struggle for workers. The construction industry has massive problems. City centres are in decline as the big chains go bust or close down and nothing will replace them.

Remove them.. and society collapses.

The latest poll puts the CDU/CSU on 31.5% in the polls, the AfD on18.5%, the SPD on 16%, the Greens on 10% , Die Linke on 3.5%the BSW on 9%, the FPD on 4% and Die Linke on 3.5%. A coalition between the CDU/CSU and the AfD would just about have a majority of seats but such a coalition is highly unlikely. So where else would the CDU/CSU look for a partner? The obvious choice is the SPD but their combined vote is only 47.5% so they might need a third partner. The FPD is only on 4% so might not get any seats. Die Linke are only on 3.5% and their inclusion is out of the question, even if they won any seats. That leaves the BSW or the Greens. It is not impossible that the Greens will still be in government after the next election.

Winning a single seat means below the 5% threshold doesnt count , so they can get 4.5% proportional seats

They have been included in eastern state governments, in one state they led the government.
Just as the Greens have mixed with the CDU as well.

The Germans could always import a couple hundred thousand more immigrants! Just think of all that cheap labor they would then have to use…

October 16, 2024 5:34 am

The situation in Germany, the UK, EU in general and Australia is that voters can’t vote in politicians who will fight back against this insanity – there are far too few and their voices are drowned out by the lunatics on the left and far too many on the right. We may find ourselves here in the US in the same situation if we continue to elect democrats. An article in the WSJ today should frighten any thinking person in that the EU is looking to impose their green agenda on US companies.

The new regulation forces U.S. companies to adhere to the EU’s “net zero” carbon emissions target and to comply with onerous labor-related standards—even when they exceed the requirements of U.S. law. In addition to imposing severe financial penalties for violations, the rule establishes a private right of action that gives activists an incentive to bombard companies with frivolous lawsuits.”

https://www.wsj.com/opinion/european-regulators-make-a-power-grab-and-biden-harris-dont-stop-it-econ-harm-bb50d548?mod=opinion_lead_pos11

Of course, Biden/Harris won’t fight back against this new regulation because they support it as do virtually all dems. If Harris wins and dems take control of congress, our GDP will soon match that of the EU as we join the club to commit economic suicide thinking that if we can control Co2, we can control the climate.

We can’t control the weather. That is per media reports. Certainly there are limited exceptions, such as cloud seeding to make it rain.

If we can’t control the weather, what kind of hubris does it take to believe we can control the climate.

Note: Climate is an average of historical weather records.
Question: Can we control the past?

People need to learn again how to think.

Germany thought sunshine and breezes could power a modern society and two decades later after proving it is impossible because storage is required but storage is forever, yes, forever too expensive and instead doubles down on more of the same “has issues”. Their last wind auction was oversubscribed.
Doubling the cost of electricity and causing a recession hasn’t been proof enough to end the folly. Anyone who has studied the intermittent problem understands that the higher the wind and solar penetration the greater the problem. Germany, that last time I looked was at 26% wind and solar for electrical generation consumption (not nameplate). They’ll never get to 52% because the economy would collapse first.
The Alternative for Deutschland (AfD), the political party that all the other parties have declared they won’t join in a coalition government because they are “extremists” wants to restart the nukes, end the energiewende (W&S disaster), reestablish trade with Russia, and deport immigrants. There’s the only hope Germany has for what will otherwise be a permanent recession (The next ruling Coalition must include the AfD). It’s not complicated. The AFD recently won key regional elections. We’ll see what happens next September during their National Elections. The results will be as consequential as our elections this November.

I predict this will have the same impact as was seen by the Versailles Treaty which smacked-down Germany at the conclusion of WWI. There will be a period of intense and increasing pain, lasting a decade or more … followed by a bold outspoken leader bringing the economy back from the depths of despair … and what happens after that will be a monstrous terror.

The Versailles smackdown was to make Germany pay for all the costs incurred by its opponents in the prosecution of the war.

Trivia: USA funded Hitler and the National Socialist Worker Party to get them elected, principally as a stop gap to prevent the spread of Soviet Communism.

Seems similar to what is ongoing today.
