Radical Enviros Finally Endorse Harris Because They ‘Can Pressure and Move’ Her on Energy Policy

A radical climate protest group called Climate Defiance endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday, citing their belief that she will be able to be pressured on energy policy.

The activist group initially held back its endorsement of Harris, appearing to condition its support on her acceptance of a list of demands that included a complete moratorium on new oil and gas projects and a ban on new fossil fuel leasing on federal lands and waters. After meeting with a top Harris adviser earlier in September, Climate Defiance — which once targeted Harris with one of its signature disruptive protests in 2023 — is now backing her candidacy because she “is the leader we can pressure and move” on key energy policies, the group announced in a Wednesday social media post.

“Climate Defiance is endorsing Kamala Harris for President of the United States,” the group wrote in a post to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “Harris is not the visionary we need, but she is the leader we can pressure and move. A Trump Presidency would be a full-fledged disaster for our climate & our water & our lands. Trump would gut the [Environmental Protection Agency], tearing down regulations on cars and power plants and farms. He would sell out our sacred public spaces to his billionaire cronies. This is a nonstarter.” (RELATED: ‘Cut Her Slack’: America’s Most Prominent Enviro Wants Left-Wingers To Look Past Kamala Harris’ Fracking Pivot)

MAJOR UPDATE: Climate Defiance is endorsing Kamala Harris for President of the United States.

Harris is not the visionary we need, but she is the leader we can pressure and move. (1/12)🧵

— Climate Defiance (@ClimateDefiance) September 25, 2024

The disruptive activism outfit, which often interrupts speeches and prominent events to protest against fossil fuels, joins a list of hardline eco-activism groups that are lining up to support Harris despite her pivot away from unequivocally supporting a fracking ban. Climate Defiance figures that Harris is a “finger-to-the-wind politician” who can be pressured into taking stances she may not initially want to take.

Climate Defiance “vehemently” opposes Harris’ recent about-face on the issue of fracking, which she formerly wanted to ban, and also the Biden-Harris administration’s policy of continuing arms shipments to Israel as it fights against terrorist groups in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. However, the group is so strongly repulsed by former President Donald Trump — who it claims is “beholden to racists, rapists, fascists, and billionaires” — that it is throwing its weight behind Harris.

Climate Defiance is one of numerous similarly-styled environmental protest groups that receives funding from the Climate Emergency Fund (CEF), a U.S.-based nonprofit that receives funds from many prominent and wealthy American liberals. CEF donors include Hollywood writer Adam McKay and actor Jeremy Strongaccording to the organization’s 2023 annual report.

Neither the Harris campaign nor Climate Defiance responded immediately to requests for comment.

Climate Defiance wants a weak suck-up. Which is reason enough to vote against her.

It’s amazing how many decisions you can make on complicated mysterious subjects merely by who supports what, and how they support it.

The details of climate catastrophe are beyond my math skills, and about all I think I really know is that CO2 is plant food, and CO2 levels were 10-15 times higher in the dinosaur ages. Oh, and corals have been around for several hundred years and survived the dino-killing asteroid and the numerous ocean level changes of several hundred feet, the last being just 10-15,000 years ago.

What I know about the supporters is that they lie their asses off. So many failed predictions about no snow, no polar bears, no penguins, no this that and the other, and every single one is wrong. We’ve passed more tipping points than Guam, and like Guam, haven’t tipped yet.

People with truth on their side push the truth. People without truth push lies. I don’t need to know more than that.

No conceivable math skills can conjure any climate catastrophe since none truthfully exists, or can.
Mann got centered principal components math wrong. Produced hockey sticks from any red noise. McIntyre proof.
Climate models must rely on parameterization rather than math, because of the CFL constraint on numerical solutions to partial differential equations resulting in computational intractability by 6-7 orders of magnitude. OoM ~ E+6.5.

1+1=2, always.
0*1=0, always.
And my fav, e^i*pi +1 = 0, by which Euler’s 1748 theorem incorporates all five of the most important math ‘numbers’. And if you want, each ‘number’ has its own popular explanation book. I have studied origins of all 5, plus the sixth or ‘golden ratio’ found in biology and architecture.
1= result of simple counting.
0 first a base placeholder (we use base 10), then the divide between positive and negative counting—itself a big ‘zero’ conceptual advance enabling the infinite number line centered on 0.
e the natural logarithm and basis for exponential functions.
i the ‘imaginary’ square root of -1 enabling complex numbers and all AC electrical engineering.
Pi, the ratio of circumference to diameter of a circle, first rigorously estimated by Archimedes.
And, to round out the final magic math number not in Euler’s theorem, the golden ratio is ~1.618, exactly unequal line segments (a+b)/a or exactly (1+ sqrt5)/2. It describes the sunlight maximizing spiral of leaves around stems (and in pines, the spiral of branches around trunks) in plants, and the curvature of snail shells, and also the ‘beauty’ of the Parthenon.

The Golden Mean is also found as the limiting ratio of adjacent Fibonacci numbers, and is very much beloved by Elliot Wave and fractal acolytes.

‘pi is wrong’ 🙂

radius is better (for kids) to start with. Tau = 6.28…

e^i*tau = 1

“e the natural logarithm and basis for exponential functions.”

e comes from Calculus. e^x is the one function whose derivative and integral is e^x.

My favorite expression is j^j (i^i for the non-EE’s), which is equal to an infinite set of positive real numbers. Makes for an excellent fudge factor.

Remember that x^x = e^x*ln(x), ln(i) = i*(pi/2 +/- 2*n*pi) where n is any integer from minus infinity to plus infinity.

“Oh, and corals have been around for several hundred years and survived the dino-killing asteroid and the numerous ocean level changes of several hundred feet, the last being just 10-15,000 years ago.”

I think you mean corals have been around for hundreds of millions of years.

Climate Defiance endorsement of Harris makes her more unelectable than she already is.

As for her laugh, she guffawed more liberally than I have ever heard a woman guffaw. If there had been an aisle, she would have rolled in it. She was giving the impression of a hyena which had just heard a good one from another hyena.

I’m reminded of the economists who endorsed Harris because her radical economic policies were unlikely to get passed into law.

Iran would say exactly the same thing about the Kamal.

You can’t pressure black people. They all know how to overcome and resist pressure.

To pressure and move Kamala, she would have to be from a different ethnic group, say Irish-Hindu.

They say, “End Fossil Fuels.”

One way I do that is by burning them. The solution to ending fossil fuels is to use them up.

Climate Defiance was the endorsement that I needed to see. I had doubts … I was confused and had been mulling it over; but now Kammy has my vote.

Nope. Totally serious.

After checking around if have found that there are 3 of us (12 if you count the illegal voters) in the country that have been swayed by the endorsement.

We have started our own PAC. It is the MFC PAC.

Kamala Harris has changed her mind on so many issues, that today it is impossible to know what she is for and what she is against. I would expect that the Climate Emergency Fund and others know who will actually control a Harris-Walz administration and therefore what programs Harris-Walz will actually push if they are elected.
