Education researchers say some Australian teachers still feel climate change is a “controversial” and difficult topic to teach.
The researchers urge an emphasis on practical ways to address climate change issues, to avoid triggering “eco-anxiety” in students.

Updates to the national curriculum in 2022 put a greater emphasis on teaching climate change in schools, but Dr White says it’s limited.
“We’re seeing a little bit of an increase for the opportunity to explore climate change education through this curriculum, mostly in the areas of science and geography in Year 10,” she says.
“Unfortunately, a lot of our students across Australia don’t take science or geography in year 10. So there’s a bit of a challenge there.”

Climate change also features in some state and territory curriculums, but Dr White says many teachers aren’t resourced, or are reluctant, to include it.
“They’re managing all sorts of family attitudes. And that plays out in a classroom in really strong ways,” she says.

While researchers claim they’re advising teachers to take a “practical” approach, there is evidence the climate curriculum in Australia is doing immense harm to children’s mental wellbeing.
Imagine what it is like for parents, when the kids come home from mandatory climate education and tell parents “today we learned we’re all going to die – and it’s your fault!”.
No wonder teachers are receiving pressure to ease up.
And for teachers who refuse to ease up, I wonder how many kids in their classes are being coached by their parents about how to lie to their teacher? I’ve spoken to parents who told me they have embraced this tactic – telling kids the climate crisis is fake, then coaching kids to lie to their teachers.
Teaching kids to lie to their teacher at a young age is a terrible thing, but it is better than watching kids develop mental health problems because they believe the world is about to end, or because they are being constantly bullied by their climate zealot teacher for “failing” to rote learn all the leftist green doomsday cult trash they are being taught.

How to deal with millenarian cults with political influence is a wicked problem for public school teachers. If the teacher is honest and well informed, anything they teach their students will get them fired. So avoiding the subject entirely is the only practical approach.

Fair enough. But what all totalitarians have in common is the idea that the ‘collective will of the people’, aka the State, always supersedes the rights of any individual.
There were absolute monarchies, like France or Russia, where one person was supreme. In the past and currently, there are theocracies, like the Islamic Republic of Iran, which claim to rule on behalf of God/Allah.
In neither of these, or in socialist countries, which Marxists are a subset, do the concept of preserving individual rights really exist. The “collective will of the people” is a rhetorical nod to the Jeffersonian/Whig concept of rights that totalitarians actually reject.

In the USA Marxists have been slowly taking over the school boards. Money is coming from questionable sources to get people elected to the school boards. This is no secret, it’s in the open. AGW, DEI, ESG, and CRT are being taught to children in public schools from kindergarten through high school. Backlash from parents is silenced.
My recollection is that the timing for many school board elections usually differs from that for most federal, state and local offices. As a result, the handful of activists that actually show up for these ‘off’ elections punch well above their weight class. Again, people get exactly what they vote for, or in this case, what they don’t vote for since they can’t be bothered to participate.
This has been going on since as long as humans have existed.
Everyone wants to believe their little slice of history is somehow more important than any that came before or will come after. It’s a natural human tendency/fallacy of thinking.
This is why we get apocalypse predictions (with a 100% historical failure rate) ‘within our lifetimes’ throughout history.

I’ll play the odds that, like every other doomsday prediction, we’ll be fine.
And there’s always the belief that some previous epoch was a golden age- like when there was only 285 PPM of CO2 in the air- back when there were no floods, droughts, hurricanes, heat waves, etc.

The decent teachers just do the bare minimum and move on. A few of the more toxic climate zealot teachers bully kids who resist their teaching on climate change – give them “F” grades and detention for talking back. Remember this starts in junior school, so we’re talking about some really young kids being subject to this brutalisation.

I would tell the teachers to stop using fossil fuels if they are so devout in the church of climastrology.
Include wearing clothes, food, cell phones, text books, chalk, etc., etc., etc.
No one should rely on the school system to educate their children. Parents should take an active role in encouraging their curiosity.
The longer the authorities try to maintain the climate fantasy, the bigger the eventual backlash.

began in 1988 with the formation of the IPCC by the UNEP and the WMO. From the beginning, the IPCC stated that activities of humans caused global warming and that greenhouse gases from the use of fossil fuels.
At the recent COP28 Conference the rich countries have promised many more millions of funds to the poor countries.
Hopefully, this scheme and fraud can not go forever.

Parents, to too great a percentage, rely on schools as baby sitters.
It is sad that we are in a day and age where parents have to send their kids to school with the knowledge that their teachers are going to deliberately lie to them. Back when I went to public school here in the US there were a couple times when my mom had to set me straight with regards to something some leftwing teacher had taught in a US history class. But at least she didn’t have to send me to school with a warning that I’d be lied to and to play along!
Luckily by the time I got in college, I was pretty well inoculated against most nonsense. My parents and grandparents taught me to recognize BS for what it is. But unfortunately not all children are so well protected.

Some of those teachers are not deliberately lying. Those have been brainwashed and actually believe what they say. Those are the rot core that needs to be exorcised.

None of that measured greening according to NASA’s seminal study a few years ago was caused by anything more than increased atmospheric CO2.

NASA is a collection of smart people hoping to collect federal retirement. The satellites mostly use less advanced technology than a cell phone. The reports mostly contain whatever information supports the conclusion predetermined by the smart people’s bosses.

Care needed with that last sentence. NASA attributed 70% of the global greening to CO2. Maybe some of the remaining 30% is indirectly attributable to CO2, but I doubt it.

More bad government, they just can’t do anything right. Public education has become so bad that I’m afraid schools should be restricted to teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. We’ll teach the kids the other stuff some other place. In the US we need to get rid of the department of education, that would be a huge step forward.
The UN IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) unequivocally states that extreme weather is not increasing in frequency, intensity nor duration since before 1900. Everything else is a lie; government propaganda.

About 71% of the earth’s is water which is the main greenhouse by far. The IPCC still claim that the greenhouse gases (i.e., CO2) cause global warming.
But Hawaii is, given the rapidly accelerating rise in ocean levels, is pushing back occupancies from the shoreline. 3 feet by the end of the century is the claim, and even buildings on stilts more than 3 feet above the ocean have to be moved/removed.

Teaching the sciences involved in studying weather and climate is one thing. Brainwashing with ideology is another.
Certainly present both sides. Some say CO2 is the cause. Others say it is not, that it is much more complex than that. And so forth.
It is all part of the activist technique. If you do not agree, 100%, with everything I say and do not repeat what I tell you verbatim with no deviation, you are a denier, anti-human, whatever.

There nothing practical about teaching unscientific theories of doom to students unless one is intent on gaining wealth and power from deliberate fraud against innocents. There isn’t an insult vile enough to describe this behaviour.
Wealth and power, yes, control, yes, but also reducing the world’s population down to a few millions, starting with western culture and especially those nasty white supremists and capitalists.
What was the education system pushing before this issue? I remember a lot of capitalism vs communism and religion vs science from my days in public. That was long enough before Inconvenient Truth was played in science classes that _something_ must have come between the two regimes.
