And I didn’t make a post about it, but here’s a bonus. Just Stop Oil went after Taylor Swift’s Private Jet yesterday but it was nowhere to be found.

Don’t you miss the good old days at WATTS when CTM would just snip nonsense and get rid of it?
Allowing idiots to post their stupidity has value. It provides comic relief kind of like clowns at the circus after watching an intense and talented performance.
I like that WUWT doesn’t censor. An exchange of ideas, no matter how ridiculous, can at least show what the loser mindset is like.
They are giving us the rope to hang their ideology.
However, User, ect are incredibly boring.
Wasn’t Tony Heller censored or locked out? That was before my time here.
Maybe Charles Rotter can clear that up.
Your memory is faulty. I would never have snipped the above. There were rules for discourse but almost all points of view were allowed. Things like blatant racism were prohibited. Certain topics were off limits.
Thank you for that, Charles; there is no value in this site becoming an echo chamber. There is value in knowing other peoples’ points of view, as some have valid points and some are simply displays of grand ignorance. We need to understand them all; remember Bonhoeffer pointing out that some can be dangerous.
… ya, yer mother

(checking to see where the line is 🙂
Apparently you haven’t reached. Try again.
One more word would’ve gotten you banned.

Charles, I agree that you snipped me in a reasonable way. However, I still like my comment, and my friends I shared it with also found it amusing. Sorry for any doubt about your conduct my above may have suggested.
Not to worry, Ron; as a fellow geologist I share your frustration of people without our sense of time and the range of physical parameters through this planet (and its life) survives and thrives. The frustration stems from what Bonhoeffer observed–the stupid mind does not listen or learn. They can be dangerous and I’d like to keep aware of who they are. I’m also glad Charles said what he did; it was an important point that this site not operate as a censor. Leave it to the readers to decide the legitimacy of a comment.
I’ve been around WUWT for a little over ten years.
Sometimes I’ve seen a “snip” made inside a comment. Usually with an explanation by whoever was the Mod that day.
I’ve seen commenters banned, usually with an explanation. (Repeated personal insults that went WAY over the edge. (Things involving farm animals, etc.)
REP deleted one of my comments early on. It was a lengthy list of of record highs I’d copy/pasted in. Showed up as a jumbled mess. But he explained why.
I had another comment deleted that I remember. It was a suggestion for Josh when Mann was claiming to be a Nobel Lauriat. My suggestion involved a lariat (thinking of “give a man enough rope …”) but I didn’t include that thought. The suggestion could have taken as lynching or causing personal harm. I didn’t think of that.
I wish it had gone through, but no problem.
WUWT has never been about “censorship”. A few rules and decorum, but never “censorship” that I’ve seen.
We’ve had a couple banned for refusing to stay on topic and trying to force a discussion of what they considered important into every thread.
True.
I think the term is “thread bombing” as opposed to “thread hijacking”?
Ron,
I have only admiration for the quality and endurance of the work of CTM.
Recall not only has this WUWT team built a blog we like to read, it has also gained market dominance and kept it. That is not easy. He also writes a pretty mean technical article.
I’m uncertain about the CTM foray into art with AI assist, not because of how it looks, but because the whole AI concept is tricky ground whose use might be happening too quickly.

Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005),[1] was a landmark decision by the Supreme Court of the United States in which the Court held, 5–4, that the use of eminent domain to transfer land from one private owner to another private owner to further economic development does not violate the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment. In the case, plaintiff Susette Kelo sued the city of New London, Connecticut, for violating her civil rights after the city tried to acquire her house’s property through eminent domain so that the land could be used as part of a “comprehensive redevelopment plan”.[2] Justice John Paul Stevens wrote for the five-justice majority that the city’s use of eminent domain was permissible under the Takings Clause, because the general benefits the community would enjoy from economic growth qualified as “public use”.[1]
As I recall, it was the liberal wing of the supreme court who screwed Ms Kelo. The last time I checked, the land is vacant. Since then:
The decision from this case sparked controversy with 47 states strengthening their eminent domain laws and 12 states amending their state constitutions to stop eminent domain from benefiting private parties.[5]

Greenpeace faces ‘criminal’ prosecution for desecrating Peruvian sacred sites
Wait for it, “MyUsedUpName” will tighten up the goalposts and say, “I’m only talking about the JustStopOil protesters.”
Troll alert.
A weepy little child-troll !
Just stop stupid orange painters.
The real “white privilege”. This nonsense will continue until there are meaningful consequences.
Children throwing tantrums and acting out because the adults happen to know better and won’t take the kids seriously. It has happened throughout history. The human brain doesn’t finish developing until you are in your mid to late 20s.
yeah reminds me of the movie ‘Wild in the Streets”
35. How the Constitution Framers knew this, I don’t know.
They objectively observed, discriminated, and were conservative in application where it was important.
*objective (Uninfluenced by emotions or personal prejudices)
*conservative (applying a respectful safety factor wrt actions)
*discriminating (able to recognize AND draw fine distinctions or judgments)
Things have changed since then.
Doesn’t the Labour Manifesto provide for allowing 16-year-olds to vote?
They were careful observers of human nature.
They knew from history, that no one person could be trusted with absolute power, which is why they designed a government in which power was divided between three branches, as well as between the federal government and the states.
Unfortunately, progressives thought they knew better and have modified the system the founders created, and not for the better.
It appears, when looking back over the years, that they were far, far, more ‘learned’ than anyone since their ‘time’.
Hey, I resent that remark. I am well aware that at 89, my brain is still developing.
a public whipping would work wonders to end this sort of thing
G’Day Joseph,
“a public whipping…”
Too impersonal. The ‘stocks’, and overripe vegetables for the public to throw. (Where’s Fernando Valenzuela when you need him…..)
The inherent danger and excessive effects of orange paint are a threat to society. The only answer to this menace is to ban orange paint. No one should have unrestricted access to ORANGE PAINT!
Nobody needs to own assault paint.
Orange paint bad.
Only thing that will stop a bad guy with orange paint, is a good guy with orange paint. Orange paint for everyone!!!
For me, these stunts produce the opposite effect of that intended. I am less inclined to give arguments from these protestors any relevance. In this case, they are poorly informed about airplanes, as well as the non-role of Carbon Dioxide in warming of the atmosphere. Being stupid is not a good way to go through life.
“Look at those idiots doing stupid things. They inspired me to join “The Cause!”.
I doubt if that is most peoples reaction. Most people want to react as that lady trying to stop that orange idiot or dragging them off the street in France or off the top of the subway trains in the UK.
One of them will end seriously injured. I doubt they’ll gain “martyr” status except in the MSM.
I like knowing where the bone-heads are. But it is a shame they have been indulged to the point where they feel the only way to get noticed is to do serious damage. They should have been chastised appropriately (but not silenced) before they escalated. “I see you. Now do some community service hours.”
I note a pro-Palestinian activist destoyed a portrait at Cambridge University in early March. In late June the police are still investigating. Considering the high-res video widely available on the Internet one wonders what the hold-up is. And as the wheels slowly grind so the the idea some causes are so noble no action is beyond the pale takes deeper root.
Yet, bizarrely, a career can be destroyed overnight by a mob for just saying the wrong thing.
Very odd.
The NYC DA, yes, the same guy who indicted Trump, has just dropped all charges against the anti-Israel protestors who occupied, and trashed, a university building. He also sealed all the cases, just to make sure the protesters don’t have to worry about any negative consequences from these youthful excesses.
“youthful excesses”? no ‘sarc’?

Some of the subsidies are being increased by as much as 5 times.
You just can’t fix stupid.
In a less edited clip the chubby girl says that ‘we need to stop using all fossils as long as people are starving’. She actually said that, as if using oil is causing famine & starvation.
In the infinite universe scenario, she needs to gets transferred to the reality where she gets what she is asking for.
Without hydrocarbons and associated chemicals from the earth, billions would starve.
Most of these cretins are chronically MAL-INFORMED about basically everything.!
They are UTTERLY CLUELESS !
Fun story. I know why Taylor Swift’s plane was not at Stansted that day. It was in Wales. My granddaughter is a Swiftie. So is her Mom. The two of them left last Friday for London, in order to travel to Wales for Swift’s Eras concert there on Sunday evening. They got back to Charlotte North Carolina on Tuesday. Crazy.
You can absolutely bet that the Stonehenge paint clowns DROVE to the site in FF powered car. !
It’s a long walk…
Regarding the “funny” terrorist act of painting aircraft, it is not so funny….It was noted elsewhere these two terrorists were arrested. And yes it should be considered terrorism, and punished with at least 20 years in prison. That is the only way to deter this criminal act. There are several critical sensing “probes” on the outside of such aircraft and spraying paint onto or into them could cause the plane to crash, potentially into populated areas around airports, so the terrorism charge would be applicable. (blocked probes have caused several airliner accidents in the past)
Also they are as dumb as posts if they were after the Swift jet, as both aircraft they sprayed are in fact Gulfstream business jets, and Swifty owns a Dassault Falcon 7x. (Gulfstream are the only ones with the large oval passenger windows and only two engines as seen in the video, while the Falcon has 3 engines and tiny windows)
