The recent desecration of Stonehenge by Just Stop Oil activists using orange powder paint continues the escalation of reckless and disrespectful tactics embraced by climate change proponents. Stonehenge, a monument of immense historical and cultural significance, was subjected to an act of vandalism that not only disrespected the heritage of a nation but also underscored the extremity of current climate activism. This incident reveals a disturbing trend where ideological zeal overshadows rational discourse and civil behavior.
This act of defacement continues their demonstrations of a troubling disregard for historical preservation, previously with classic works of art, and now major archeological artifacts in favor of sensationalist stunts. The activists’ decision to target a World Heritage site illustrates a profound ignorance of the delicate balance between advocating for environmental concerns and respecting our shared human heritage. Stonehenge, an ancient marvel of engineering and astronomy, has stood for millennia, weathering the passage of time and the elements. To tarnish such a site with garish paint for the sake of a fleeting message betrays a profound lack of appreciation for its enduring significance, and thankfully will only hasten their loss of support.
Moreover, this incident raises serious questions about the ethical boundaries of protest. The blatant vandalism of a cherished historical site is unlikely to garner public support; instead, it fosters resentment and further polarizes debate, reducing complex scientific and policy discussions to simplistic and destructive acts of rebellion.
Effective change is built on dialogue, evidence-based policy, and mutual respect. By contrast, acts of vandalism serve only to undermine the credibility of the movement and erode the public’s trust in its motives.
Lock them up.

Bring back the pillory. Let people throw rotten food at them.
No, I think we should encourage them, not punish them,. China is the main emitter of CO2, so they should be helped to get to China so that they can do their protesting there.
Tar-and-feathers used to work real good.
maybe you haven’t noticed but the warmists NEVER engage in “complex scientific and policy discussions” … they never have … its only the skeptics who engage in that …
A hard kidney punch would have been my knee jerk reaction. I may have knelt on his head as I dislocated his shoulder to get his arms behind him. Apart from that I would have treated him with the respect that he deserved.
I think I would have employed a very solid rugby-style tackle ! 🙂
A few of his ribs might have been very sore for a while !
Just stop oil. These activists have no idea what the effect of banning oil would be, nor do they understand how important oil is and how many products depend on it, nor most importantly that it will have no effect on the climate whatsoever. Man has virtually no control over the climate. It has always varied and always will. They are rent a crowd fearmongers who do not understand the science.
These goofballs accomplish nothing except to bring a heap of disdain on their heads and the Greens in general In fact, people like them are a good reason why “mental” is an appropriate part of the word “environmental”. One has to have a few loose screws to believe that such actions will cause any big reaction against fossil fuel use. It’s far more likely to undermine Green credibility even more.
“The activists’ decision to target a World Heritage site …”
I doubt if it’s up just to the UK to declare Stonehenge a “World Heritage” site.
Why hasn’t the group of Nations that declared Stonehenge a World Heritage Site charged “Just Stop Oil” and these idiots in particular with being international terrorist?
Once they cross the line into criminality, they are no longer legitimate protestors. Regardless of their cause, they should be treated no different to anyone else who breaks the law.
“Climate change” is the tautological liturgy of a deluded and dangerous cult which has become ingrained in society.
It’s impossible to know what was actually going on in these two people’s minds and, they probably could not verbalise their intentions rationally in any case.
But these two are at the far end of the spectrum of the Gaia cult and more to be pitied than be the focus of our anger. No punishment will change their addled minds but punished they should be, although I suspect they will see themselves as martyrs for Gaia. As if we ersatz Homo Sapiens Sapiens can have any lasting effect on a planet 4.5 billion years old.
What frightens me is the likes of Antonio Guterres, borrowing from the religious terror of the End of Days in the Book of Revelations, claiming the “sea will boil”. Mankind is the enemy in the perverted philosophy of numerous politicians, journalists, teachers and, bureaucrats. The population of the world should be culled (except of course, they themselves) to create a sort of Platonic Republic of the Gold, Silver and Bronze.
JSO is the lunatic fringe of the Gaia religion but it is the main body of their Church which is the most dangerous.
This is a strange target for people who don’t like fossil fuels. They could target a gas plant, a refinery, a gasoline distribution facility, etc. but they choose one thing that we are pretty sure was not built using fossil fuels.
Gas plants, refineries, etc have real security, including people with guns.
Perhaps the appropriate sentence for this, and similar sentences for other such stunts, would be to have an official squad liberally coat every inch of the inside of wherever they live with the same orange paint (tomato sauce, etc.), and charge then for the labor and materials.
Agree with the RICO comments, assuming such a thing exists in the UK. In the meantime…..
Appears this pair just volunteered to clean up their mess with toothbrushes. 2 years would be long enough. A couple decades would be even better, especially if joined by their co-conspirators. Cheers –
Where are our local trollettes coming out against this cretinous act?
The fact they refuse to say anything means they support it.
Yep.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen any of them condemn, or even say anything negative, about any negative acts by other greens – that includes misleading the public (to which they usually respond “Well that’s not scientists saying it”) as well as vandalism.
Good on that tiny little women for trying to stop those grubs. Personally I would have been very happy if a few more people had jumped the ropes and given them some civil justice since the law doesn’t seem to get anywhere with these idiots.
The substance thrown on the monument was corn flour and has already been completely cleaned off. I’m not a fan of protest by way of vandalism in general but can’t help feeling that the hand wringing going on in this thread is more than a little disingenuous.
Typical of the disgusting far-left HUMAN SCUM to condone or try to downplay this debasement of a heritage monument
What a DISGUSTING LOW-LIFE CRETIN you are.
Some of the stones fell over in the 18th century and in the 1960s were hoisted back into place by cranes and set in concrete (another stone fell during this restoration project and was engineered back into place). People used to climb on them, until recently people could go up and touch the stones (and still can during special events). They’ve been spray painted by war protestors. Let’s stop being so precious.
No harm, no foul.
No real damage, just a little emotional disturbance.
Had I taken the little protester, stripped it naked, and sprayed it with the same corn starch it would have the same effect … just a little emotional disturbance. Looking at the little protester it is obvious it has been subject to ridicule before, so more of the same would be O.K. No harm, no foul.
I’m sure AlanJ will back me up on this.
Obviously not, what the protestors did was a criminal act and the perpetrators were arrested. The point is that people are expressing faux-outrage that is far outsized in relation to the actual act of vandalism.
Your nonconsensual sexual fantasy is disturbing and I do not wish to be forced into participating.
You already are participating. Your insult notwithstanding, I believe you would be showing a little outrage (faux or otherwise) if someone subjected the guilty to a little emotional disturbance, without any physical harm.
Given your immediate jump to sexual issues, where simple embarrassment due to modesty norms being violated would be more appropriate, you would likely be screaming about the ‘inequity’ of the emotional disturbance inflicted on the little protester. Then, upon someone accusing you of expressing faux-outrage, you could explain why your outrage is justified (maybe you could get a Freudian psychologist to help you figure out how the whole thing was ‘forced on you’).
If this defacement was so easily remedied as you suggest, it is still in line with others that cost considerably more to undo. Making a spectacle of oneself is one thing, and generally hurts no one else (aside from possible embarrassment to family) but damaging or defacing property that is not one’s own is far worse. The punishment should match the crime, and perhaps there should be additional punitive damages if the desecration is great enough.
We know now that it was corn flour. But if making excuses for these low-life scumbags makes you happy, so be it.
Suppose some people got together and did the same stunt on the local government buildings in a protest against dictatorial, undemocratic, and totally stupid restrictions on individual choice? How many heavy boots would stamp on them?
Latest daft stunt, reported this morning, they broke into an airfield with the intention of spaying paint on Taylor Swift’s jet (on tour in UK currently) but couldn’t find it, so spayed two random executive jets with yellow paint instead. Attacking Taylor Swift is really going to get youth on side – completely delusional! Personally I think they should be sued by the owners of the aircraft for the cost of the damage, mummy and daddy might not be too pleased with a bill for thousands of pounds.
Thousands upon thousands a few times over. I wonder if any paint droplets got into the turbines.
(The chubby girl says that ‘we need to stop using all fossils as long as people are starving’. She actually said that.)
If they were wearing clothes, drove up in any vehicle, had cell phones, credit cards, money, plastic water bottles, used compressed air, the paint, all of it, they were covered in oil and they should be ashamed.
