Climate change is emerging as the greatest health challenge of the 21st century, impacting various aspects of human well-being. Extreme weather events, noncommunicable and infectious diseases, as well as health infrastructure and workforce capacity, are all being significantly affected.
“I am honoured to serve as the WHO Director-General Special Envoy for Climate Change and Health. The climate crisis is a health crisis – it poses a fundamental threat to global health, and urgent action is needed to mitigate and adapt against this complex challenge. Climate change is already wreaking havoc across the world – from the cholera outbreak in Malawi to heat-related illness in India – we must invest in strong health systems now which are resilient against these impacts. I will work with WHO and its partners to drive awareness, develop solutions and build consensus for action for a healthier future for everyone on this planet,” said Dr Kerry.

Vanessa Kerry: “Covid taught us all these lessons learned, and we should be incorporating that….and the climate crisis is going to be so much worse.”
Jemilah Mahmood: “We were just talking about it earlier: ‘have people forgotten about Covid?’ So, I think it’s about the storytelling element. I think that a lot of the things we see on health are very doom and gloom very, very much, even on the climate issue, right, the extent that people feel ‘I can’t deal with this anymore …I can’t do this.’ But telling, you know, really inspiring stories about what is possible if we work together.”

It seems to me that any negative effects that might have occurred by humans burning fossil fuels (those things the IPCC struggle to show evidence of, despite being specifically tasked with doing so), are far outweighed by the benefits bestowed on us from them. The benefits are obvious and impact almost every aspect of our lives, but possibly most importantly by providing us with cheap and abundant energy.
People who want to force us to stop using fossil fuels without providing us with an equivalent alternative (is there such a thing?) are not our friends.

When someone can make it clear how humans can control all of these, I will believe that climate change is anything to worry about. The sun, moon, ocean currents, atmospheric pressure systems and axial tilt and earth’s rotation and the planets are all part of earth’s climate.
Not to mention the Solar System’s movement through the spiral arms of the Milky Way Galaxy.

They keep babbling away about all the negative effects of fossil fuel use and the associated carbon emissions and keep insisting that these are destroying the planet, animal life, agriculture, civilization—you name it. Yet the statistics are staring them right in the face and they refuse to acknowledge them. In the last half-century the Earth’s population has doubled, life expectancy has increased by 16 years, agricultural output has tripled, poverty levels and infant mortality have all decreased. Meanwhile the eco-geeks keep droning away like broken records about how we’re all doomed unless we—but not necessarily they—make major lifestyle changes to embrace more environmentally-friendly lifestyles. So is it any wonder that these people generate nothing but derision and horse laughs every time they start their ranting?
Has she watched an elderly Indian woman making chuppatties out of dung for her cooking fire? And what is she going to do about that? Health wise?
