Net zero evidence is the Dale way.

GBN should have displayed the charts and data provided, yet they didn’t

Nice work, Paul. Yes, Nana called up the wrong ones, I suspect, perhaps, because she may well want to keep this series of “debates” going, so she doesn’t want you to win by a knockout in only round 2!

But you’re absolutely right. Always demand evidence, which can be independently checked. It’s becoming more and more obvious that Jim Dale and his ilk don’t have any.

By the way, I’m the “neil” who received the hat tip for passing WUWT the link to your video.

Further FACTS and DATA on cyclones

No Trends In Extratropical Cyclones – IPCC | NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT (wordpress.com)

“The clown Jim Dale made this very claim again this week after Strom Gerrit. According to him, it is all to do with warm oceans, which pep up these storms. If this was correct, there would never be any storms in the Arctic. But claims such as this show a basic misunderstanding of meteorology; astonishing for somebody who claims to be a meteorologist!”

If I understand the argument correctly, Dale is only looking at what happened in one year (2023) while Burgess is trying to explain things from a climatic perspective of 30 or more years with his charts of data. In other words, Dale still doesn’t understand or care about the difference between weather and climate.

Dale is indeed a climate scare theologian and only looks at meteorological events of 2023 through the lens of the climate alarmist theology to which he is emotionally and religiously devoted. This is what happens when a person’s emotions rule his/her brain instead of the intellect. It is a waste of time and effort for a climate realist to argue with someone like Dale.

GBNews is probably only interested in promoting the conflict between Burgess and Dale and never mind what the science and facts actually say. That seems to be the editorial policy of most broadcast media outlets these days.

“The usual circus – sceptics produce evidence from accredited or respected sources and activists just try and shout them down.”

That’s what I got out of it.

I’m not familiar with the moderator, but she seemed to be trying to be fair to both sides. She even sounded a little skeptical of some of the alarmist claims, like attributing a dam collapse to climate change/CO2.

When the alarmist says “climate change” he should be corrected. He is really talking about CO2 and his assumption that CO2 is causing the climate to change and is somehow connected to a particular weather phenomenon.

So, if it were me, when he says “climate change”, I would say, Don’t you mean CO2? And I would ask how CO2 was connected to the particular weather event he is talking about. He won’t have an answer.

The best he could do is claim CO2 has raised the temperatures and the raised temperatures cause weather events to be more extreme. But he has no evidence CO2 is raising the temperatures enough to matter, and weather history shows the present day is nothing special when it comes to temperatures, so there is no unprecedented warmth today and that means there can be no extreme weather events caused by unprecedented warming.

Of course, the alarmist thinks we *are* experiencing unprecedented warming, as do all the other alarmists but we have evidence that this is not the case. It was just as warm in the recent past as it is today. The world didn’t go to hell in the recent past under similiar warm temperatures and it’s not going to hell under the current temperatures.

Climate Change Alarmists have no evidence to back up their claims. All they have are speculation, assumptions and unsubstantiated assertions. This is not the scientific method.

Nana Akua is highly sceptical of AGW away from her presenter role. Unfortunately GBN is hamstrung by the OFCOM regulations which are rigidly enforced due to the sheer volume of ‘complaints’ that they receive about every GBN presenter. There is an organised movement to bring down GBN from the ranks of the established (leftist) MSM, their supporters and left-wing activists. That GBN have managed to grow as much as they have is a testament to how much they are needed and what most people actually want. If GBN were allowed even a fraction of the freedom given to the MSM, especially the BBC and ITV, it might be a different story but they’re doing what they can in a very hostile environment.

I looked into Jim Dale’s qualifications and can’t find any.

I have searched his linkedin profile, his website, numerous other sites where he promotes himself and I can’t find a single academic qualification mentioned.

What academic goes through life without ever listing his qualifications? I haven’t met any.

He claims to have trained in the Royal Navy, which he appears to have been in for 8 years. No mention of rank. Again, no officer I have met in, or retired from the RN is shy about documenting his rank.

It must be presumed, therefore, that Dale joined as a rating. Without a suitable qualification he wouldn’t be accepted directly onto any officer training programs.

He claims to have spent time in the Meteorological dept. of the RN, presumably having gone through basic training. It’s unlikely he was then instantly handed a cushy desk job straight out of basic training so his time there would have been limited.

As far as I can tell Dale is a shameless self promoter with no scientific, or any academic qualifications whatsoever.

Maybe one could make the point that the business and government attendees of the WEF conclave should be there to keep track of what’s going on, look out for their own interests, and sabotage unfavorable ideas. That would make sense if it were true. But the meeting isn’t a political gathering that would include opposition figures with their own point of view and interests. The WEF picnic is devoted to one view and conversations are limited to the details. It’s an experiment in advanced brainwashing of those who have already completed the initial treatment.

The object of the show would be for alarmists to bring in their latest alarmist climate change claims, and then the moderator and the alarmist and the skeptic could all discuss what particular category that particular climate change scare should fit in.

Is it Evidence/Data, or is it Speculation, Assumptions and Unsubstantiated Assertion about Human-caused Climate Change.

None of the climate alarmists’ climate scare claims would fit in the Evidence/Data category. It would be fun seeing how they try to characterize speculation, assumptions and assertions as evidence of anything.

There is the long-term climate, which is the 2+ million year ice age the world is currently in, named the Quaternary Glaciation. There is also the short-term climate of around 30 years, according to the WMO, that “climate change” is speaking about. The 30-year weather averages are always changing.

Robert T Evans
January 2, 2024 8:52 am

Jim Dale needs to check the facts, Arctic sea ice stopped decreasing about 10 years ago
and is now increasing, especially in the the last 6 years.
The climate has always been extreme, as records show. and today every extreme weather event is recorded by the media on a daily basis.often saying it has been the worst ever.
The Met office compare temperatures dating back to 1650 in the UK, and they are warmer
But would they be warmer if they went back a 1000 years ago when The people inhabited iSouthern Greenland or during the Roman Empire. No they would probably be the same or slightly cooler.

His own CV at:
https://newa.expert/expert-members/mr-jim-n-r-dale/

A self-described expert, Dale’s financial well-being is built on presenting real meteorologists’ work and as a paid social witness and consultant. A dam breaking is a human made disaster that walking to work can’t stop. There was a paper published a few years before that asserted that the neglected dam couldn’t cope with a rain event as had happened previously in the 20th C, including one with twice as much rain (from records in the town) almost 70 years ago.

The Lahaina fire might have been in Hawaii but it’s in a town that gets 2 mm and 3.5 mm of rain, on average, in June and July. Early August is usually dry as well. The previous wet season had 16% more rain. The strong winds were also normal. I found an essay from 1868 that described winds for a few days happening every several years that brought down houses and trees – that used to happen every year!

Again, everything was normal, weather wise, and human stupidity caused the tragedy. Exotic grasses were allowed to grow and water not released to fight the fires. Eating fake bacon could not have stopped it.

Why pick these? Why justify the assertion with an assertion that we know that climate change is “supercharging the atmosphere”? As if putting a blanket under the hood of a car makes it go like the clappers, logically.

I know some climate scientists will roll their eyes back when they hear the stupid assertions but where are the media who report “scientists say” but do not follow it up with “but these are the ones that you shouldn’t listen to”.

January 2, 2024 1:38 pm

So UK is producing more electricity from the wind when the video was made and that gets extrapolated to the world will burn less fossil fuel in 2024 than 2023. That is green logic right there.

Let me make a few predictions –
Humans will burn more fossil fuel in 2024 than 2023.
UK will continue its economic decline.
Providing other countries keep taking UK debt and/or buying UK property, the imports from China will continue to rise.

The demise of the UK would be good for the rest of the globe if it caused other countries to take notice but its demise to third world status will make it as irrelevant to global economics as any other third world country.

Germany has intellectual property to leverage its way into China’s manufacturing for the current generation but that will not last because the know-how will stay where it is being used. And it does not help the average German pay for energy.

The whole of Europe is in recession and the seeds of a severe recession are now sewn. This green ship will not be easy to turn. The propaganda runs deep in the next generation.

January 2, 2024 4:16 pm

@paul burgess – THANK YOU for your measured, well-evidenced destruction of Jim Dale’s climate hyperbole! As a former intercollegiate debater, with a 100% win record against every Ivy League school including Harvard, my mental flow sheet of this debate resulted in your nearly universal victory on every argument, and I say “nearly” only because I prefer to avoid absolutes. Dale really doesn’t understand the difference between climate change and weather change. He continually cites catastrophic weather events, which occur often in every continent, as proof of climate change. You correctly pointed out that climate change means change in weather over time, and when we, or the IPCC, or other fact-based authorities analyze weather over time, the changes do not support a conclusion of catastrophic climate change. We are seeing increases in CO2, but catastrophic negatives for our current and future CO2 levels are not factually established. We CAN, however, establish immediate benefits including increased crop yields, and the overall level of current and future CO2 is immensely lower than max levels we attained during several pre-historic epochs. The earth appears to be warming a bit, but that has been true since the end of the Little Ice Age, and so a continuation of that natural development is not unexpected. Meanwhile, the benefits of reduced cold to civilization in the form of life preservation, for humans and many other species, seems subject to little dispute. At this time, massive changes in Antartic and Arctic ice are also unproven. As you noted, wildfires are actually reduced in frequency when viewed over time, and rise in ocean levels appears stable or moving backward, with many islands gaining available area based on satellite data, and little or no discernable encroachment in Florida or other areas with heavily populated shorelines.

As a former debater, I suggest that you continue to stress that Dale is talking about weather, which is often violent and severe, but that his citations do not support catastrophic changes in climate, which is weather over time. And continue to press Dale for responses to your data, which is a winning argument every time. I also suggest that you meditate or otherwise succeed in quelling your nerves a bit more – try l-theanine, passion flower, lemon balm and magnesium – because you have nothing to be nervous about, except nervousness itself (apologies to FDR) – you are winning every argument. As long as Dale refuses to refute your evidence, he loses the issues, but if you appear nervous, it sends a contradictory signal, and audiences will believe you are unsure of your positions. If you slow down just a bit in your delivery, you will experience less nervousness and will appear more self-controlled. It is difficult to establish that internal metronome – try practicing in front of friends.

“The debate about the climate crisis has in recent months reached fever pitch, largely due to ongoing and unprecedented global weather and climate events, coupled with ongoing actions from such bodies as Greenpeace, Climate Extinction and individuals such as Greta Thunberg, continually opposed or ignored by certain governments, commentators, polluters and keyboard warriors alike (the climate change deniers).
Thankfully, they are at long last being exposed as blatant liars and prime defenders of the climate change culprits. The topic is a hot one in more ways than one and the future of mankind is almost certainly at risk as the planet’s temperature accelerates to unprecedented levels and the +1.5 deg C. ‘tipping point’.”

Sadly, it only occurred to me this morning. The reference to renewables providing 30 percent of our energy is wildly wrong. Renewables may provide 30% of our electricity generation, but electricity is only approx. 20% of our energy usage. Therefore, renewables only provide about 6% of our energy.
