Today the Town of Churchill finally published the final problem bear reports of the season, which presents an opportunity to do a quick comparison to recent years.
This season lasted 24 weeks, the longest I can remember but apparently only the 5th longest on record. There were a total of 265 incidents by the end of November, more than 100 less than the most recent late-freeze-up year of 2016, which didn’t end until the first week of December (after bears had spent 22 weeks onshore). However, two recent years when freeze-up didn’t come until the end of November (2017 and 2020) had far fewer incidents (more than 100 less each compared to this year).

At the end of week 24 (the last week of November, 20-26) all bears in holding were released to return to the rapidly developing sea ice after a total of 265 incidents:

Gotta love those real data postings from Dr. Susan. The Apex Predator/CAGW Poster Child, aka Polar Bear (Ursus Maritimus), looks like they are benefitting from all the attention. It even looks like they have come into possession of Get Out Of Jail Free cards.
If I was a ranger I would have a nice little side business going, selling sweaters made from polar bear wool.
Sampled while they are enjoying their fix, I’m sure they won’t miss the wool much. Even if they do, it might encourage them to avoid human contact in the future.
Hmm. The question is, are the bears learning to avoid Churchill and the Holding Facility?
Remember the first rule of global warming/catastrophic warming. It’s always due to global warming. Increased bear sightings – global warming. Decreased bear sitings – global warming. Even in the same week. And it’s always catastrophic.
Wonder what a fully shave polar bear would look like !!

Their skin is black so you would have to start calling them black bears.
It is illegal to use polar bear fur for fly tying material. I would think sweaters would fall into this category. Traditional populations living up there might be exempt.

Meteorological Institute of Denmark…. it was the coldest night on Wednesday, when the temperature at Roskilde Airport in Zealand fell to a teeth-rattling -15.0 degrees.
A temperature this low has not been measured in Denmark in November – or this early in the winter season – for 30 years.
The Boiling Planet probably leaving Denmark till last.

When you average temperatures from all over the world into one big pile of crappy anomalies then it’s always the hottest week evah! Even if it isn’t!
Was that -15.0 Celsius (+5.0 Fahrenheit) or -15.0 F (-26.1 C)?
Either way, that’s really cold for Denmark.
I wonder how Greta Thunberg was keeping warm in nearby Sweden. Fossil fuels can be useful sometimes, especially in winter.

In the 1950s, we would drive to the local dump and “spotlight” Black Bears foraging in the town’s garbage. Other times someone would shoot rats with a 22.
The dump and I are now long gone — not sure about the rats and bears.
That “rat shoot “at the little small town dumps was a wonderful past time in the good old days. Even my Mom talked about what a good time she had at the dump in the 1940s. She became a school teacher.
These days school teachers brain wash their students with pictures on the class room walls of a “poor pitiful” polar bear on a little ice raft drifting away as if polar bears did not know how to swim.
Ok, Ok I suppose the polar bear could have fallen asleep on the edge of the ice “ exhausted” from desperately looking for a seal with no success due to CAGW and while asleep the ice broke off and by the time said bear woke up he was miles out to sea. “ Wilson!”
Shouldn’t they be using an electric truck to help … ‘Save the Planet’™
