CNN Credits Biden for Record High US Oil Production

Under Biden, US oil production is poised to break Trump-era records

By Matt Egan, CNN Business

New York CNN Business —

Critics accuse President Joe Biden of waging a war on the oil industry that is hurting consumers at the gas pump. And yet, on his watch, US oil production is poised to shatter all-time records set during the Trump administration.

US oil output is now projected to rise to an average of 12.8 million barrels per day this year for the first time ever, according to federal estimates released Tuesday.

For context, that’s about half a million barrels per day more than the prior annual record set in 2019. It’s also more oil than any other country on the planet produces — the next-closest nation, Saudi Arabia, produces about 10 million barrels per day, according to OPEC.

The looming milestone undercuts the argument made by some 2024 GOP presidential contenders that the Biden administration is strangling the oil industry with red tape.

[…]

CNN

U.S. oil production is not “under Biden”… Not even the oil production from Federal lands and waters. Production from Federal lands and waters is conducted pursuant to Federal laws passed by Congress. While some think that Biden could halt all of that production with the stroke of the pen, I’m 99% certain the courts would slap him down fairly quickly.

“Critics accuse President Joe Biden of waging a war on the oil industry”

This has to be the stupidest thing ever written by a moronic journalist:

Biden: I Wanted ‘to Stop All Drilling’ on the Coasts and Gulf, Got Blocked by Courts

“Undercuts the argument… Biden… is strangling the oil industry with red tape”

Just a couple of weeks ago, the Biden maladministration settled a lawsuit with a group of Enivro-Marxist terrorist organizations. The settlement would remove about 11 million acres of prime offshore leases from future lease sales and place other restrictions on offshore oil & gas operations… All in the name of a fake whale species that didn’t exist two years ago and doesn’t even occupy the area being placed off limits.

Rice’s Whales are generally located in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico, which has largely been off limits to oil & gas exploration for decades.

OSLO, Norway – PGS has released more full integrity products from the Flex Vision data rejuvenation program in the Gulf of Mexico.

The application of new imaging technology to the Flex Trend has revealed near-field opportunities that boost potential far beyond original estimates, the company said.

New data unlocks opportunities adjacent to existing discoveries, to enable infrastructure-led exploration in an area of the Gulf of Mexico that has been producing oil and gas for more than two decades. Salt, the biggest challenge for exploration on the Flex Trend, is resolved with high-quality depth imaging and improved velocity control.

Biden incorrectly claims he has declared a national emergency on climate

By Jeremy Diamond, CNN

Updated 2:34 PM EDT, Wed August 9, 2023

CNN —

President Joe Biden incorrectly claimed in an interview with The Weather Channel that he has already declared a national emergency on the climate crisis.

“I’ve already done that,” Biden said when asked whether he intends to do declare a climate emergency. “We’ve conserved more land, we’ve rejoined the Paris Climate Accords, we’ve passed the $368 billion climate control facility. We’re moving. It is the existential threat to humanity.”

When pressed again on whether he had actually declared a national emergency, Biden said: “Practically speaking, yes.”

[…]

Climate advocacy groups are seizing on the moment and are pressing Biden to actually declare an emergency.

[…]

Other groups, including the climate group coalition People vs. Fossil Fuels – which represents over 1,200 groups, released a statement saying Biden should “follow through on his rhetoric” by declaring a national emergency that could further speed up deploying clean energy and halting fossil fuel production.

“Now that President Biden says he’s ‘practically’ declared a climate emergency, it’s time to do it for real,” People vs. Fossil Fuels, a coalition of over 1,200 groups, said in their statement.

CNN

“It’s time to do it for real…”

US oil output is now projected to rise to an average of 12.8 million barrels per day this year for the first time ever, according to federal estimates released Tuesday.

Matt Egan

While all this is going on, Biden and his enablers appear to be poised to declare a climate emergency, which allegedly could lead to this:

After declaring a national climate emergency, the president can suspend the operations of all offshore leases. This will stop extraction in the more than 11 million acres of federal waters currently subject active oil and gas leases…

Center for Biological Absurdity, February 2022

While I don’t think Biden could legally do this… If he did, it would immediately shut in about 1.8 million barrels per day of oil production… Which would see the largest single-year drop in US crude oil production and it literally would be “under Biden.”

If this nightmare scenario came to pass, I wonder if Matt Egan would write an article with this headline:

Under Biden, US oil production posts single largest annual decline ever recorded!

This would shatter the previous record, when crude oil production declined by just under 1 million barrels per day during the shamdemic.

Shamdemic 2.0?

Will Climate Lockdowns Be Necessary to Fight the Climate Crisis?

At the beginning of COVID-19, lockdowns were necessary to fight the deadly virus. To lower emissions, another type of lockdown might need to be used: Climate lockdowns.

BY RAYNA SKIVER

JAN. 17 2023

At the beginning of COVID-19, lockdowns were a necessary tool for fighting off and controlling the deadly virus. People stayed inside — we went to the store less, didn’t go out to eat, and entertained ourselves at home all to avoid exposure to other people.

And for a minute, the Earth started to reflect those actions. Emissions started decreasing and it seemed that something positive was emerging out of a negative situation. This experience raises the question: Would climate lockdowns help us tackle the climate crisis?

[…]

According to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), a climate lockdown would entail the government taking other actions aside from asking people to stay at home. Limiting private vehicle use, banning the consumption of red meat, imposing intense energy-saving actions, and putting an end to fossil fuel drilling, are all examples of potential measures to be taken during a climate lockdown.

Equivalent of Covid emissions drop needed every two years – study

Equivalent falls in emissions over a decade required to keep to safe limits of global heating, experts say

Fiona Harvey Environment correspondent

Wed 3 Mar 2021 11.00 EST

Carbon dioxide emissions must fall by the equivalent of a global lockdown roughly every two years for the next decade for the world to keep within safe limits of global heating, research has shown.

Lockdowns around the world led to an unprecedented fall in emissions of about 7% in 2020, or about 2.6bn tonnes of CO2, but reductions of between 1bn and 2bn tonnes are needed every year of the next decade to have a good chance of holding temperature rises to within 1.5C or 2C of pre-industrial levels, as required by the Paris agreement.

Research published on Wednesday shows that countries were beginning to slow their rates of greenhouse gas emissions before the Covid-19 pandemic struck, but not to the levels needed to avert climate breakdown. Since lockdowns were eased in many countries last year, there have been strong signs that emissions will rise again to above 2019 levels, severely damaging the prospects of fulfilling the Paris goals.

Behind closed doors the US navy chiefs are probably quite relieved that their carriers are nuclear powered.

Otherwise, in the event of a crisis in the Pacific, they might suddenly find that their fuel had already been sent to Ukraine.
And nobody could trace where it went after that.
And those that tried were fired.

Lunatic is such a wonderful word. But to answer the direct question, anyone who pays attention to the so-called popular press knows that’s what they want to do or at least they should. Perhaps they don’t believe they (the lunatics) will actually do that.

There was a famous German who wrote a book in the early 20th century about what he planned to do. Did anyone believe him at the time? Not nearly enough or they agreed with him. Anyway, today we all know what happened.

John Kerry has acknowledged that no matter how much the US REDUCES oil production the Chinese INCREASES will still result in an increase in WW CO2.
In all of his “climate” rants Joe has never admitted that simple fact.

All of these restrictions and sacrifices by Americans will have NO IMPACT on temperatures or extreme weather even IF you believe the IPCC modeled “projections”.

This needs to be a fundamental issue in the next Presidential and Congressional election season.

The article makes no mention of how much of the production is coming from federal lands which is what is relevant to Biden’s policies. The Obama administration tried to take credit for increased oil and gas production when almost all of the increase came from state and private lands. That’s most certainly the case now.

Lee Riffee
August 13, 2023 8:32 am

Those who carry water for their favorite politician always find some way to try and make something bad seem good. This reminds me of the MSM and Obama fans going on and on about the stock market during that administration. Yes, the stock market generally did well, but it did nothing for everyday life whatsoever. The market is doing OK these days, but it doesn’t help the average person who is trying to put food on the table.
And so what if oil production is up? Does that in anyway help the little people who are paying close to $4 (or more – it’s about $3.75 here in Maryland) to fuel up?
No – these good things (stock market, oil production) are IN SPITE OF an administration that is doing its best to crush the average citizen. Kind of like a tree that sprouts up in the middle of a sidewalk. The tree is growing in spite of the concrete slabs that its roots must force apart and crack.

That said, all of these environutter groups that do all of this suing really do need to put their money where their mouths are. Otherwise, they are like anti abortion protestors who would protest at one clinic and then go have an abortion at another. If you don’t think humanity ought to use fossil fuels – then stop using them! Generally, vegetarians who don’t believe in eating meat don’t eat it. But imagine them being caught chowing down on a steak.
They cannot see that they are the height of hypocrisy. After all, that would be a quick way to cut down on emissions – all those who believe the CAGW line to stop having anything to do with fossil fuels or products made by/with them. Just Stop Oil – OK, YOU stop using it and maybe a few other people might go along with you. Well, people who like living a primitive off grid lifestyle….

A new tax (excuse me, “fee”) has added ~50¢ per gallon this year.

The trend in CO2 in the atmosphere is up, and has been so, despite all the “weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Most recently: 3.29 ppm in the last 12 months.
Never fear – Joe is on the case:
The Biden administration is throwing its weight behind technology that sucks planet-warming carbon dioxide out of the air, selecting the first winners of a $3.5 billion fund dedicated to developing the machines scientists say will be needed to stop the worst effects of climate change.”

This is another scheme to redistribute citizen dollars from the middle class to the rich. TheClimate™ won’t care.

August 13, 2023 9:19 am

So basically, the entire cabal of scientists, additions to the deep state and media have installed themselves as a huge (extra) parasitic load on everybody else.
As if lawyers weren’t bad enough but that’s the lead they followed. They created a niche were they could generate their own ‘work’ and get everyone else to pay handsomly for them to do it.

Somehow, that load has to be carried – and there is is.
It’s done by digging, mining and pumping more fossils

But there are ‘other costs’
i.e. The kids, they’re suffering already and are set to inherit this ravenous insatiable monster.

Its really a simple resolution.

Biden declares his Climate Emergency, then Hunter opens the pay window to take in bribes from the various producers for Exemptions.

Congress will spend more time trying to get in on the action rather than condemn it.
Paying off the politicians ultimately is cheaper than screwing around with their red tape.

The former USA is now a banana republic, we might as well acknowledge it.

August 13, 2023 1:44 pm

“You can’t fix stupid”

No, just journalistically lazy. Biden is making the industry play by the rules. This, along with the inevitable confluence of a half dozen modern, geological and petroleum engineering/economic realities, has already resulted in the slow death spiral of proved, developed, on (formerly PDP), oil and oil associated gas, year over year reserves, for pretty much every future year, in the most played out country in the world, ours.

The monthly max rates are actual, but represent the oil and gas apogee of Richard Branson’s wild “space” ride. CNN needs to do their homework….

The world has gone crazy .
In a few years time world leaders might actually admit that they have used the unproven threat of man induced climate change to try and destroy democracy .
There are now 8 billion people living on our planet and it is only because of the use of fossil fuels that this has happened .
Even 100 years ago the average age in many countries was in the thirties .
Life was short and brutal for the vast majority of the worlds population of around 2 billion .
Politicians are to blame from local councils right to the UN using the threat of climate change to exert their influence.
With out fossil fuel the world will starve as 50% of all of the worlds food is grown using nitrogenous fertilizer manufactured using natural gas .
Don’t these eco loons know this simple fact .
This period is the best the world has ever known but politicians right around the world are trying to push the world back into a dark place without fossil fuel .

Biden doesn’t need to do much to protect Rice’s whales, most of which live off the Florida coast, where oil drilling is not permitted anyway (most of the Gulf oil wells are off the coasts of Louisiana and Texas).

If Biden wants to protect whales, maybe he should ban offshore wind farms, which seem to be scaring whales into running aground on the south Jersey shore. He might notice if a whale washes up on Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, where he spends half his time as President.
