This would appear to be an allegory for the entire green movement: Act on pure emotion without preparation and without thinking through the consequences, then cry when caught unprepared and faced with those consequences.

At least VW shows a tiny bit of sense. Leave them there in their filth.
Long before now, a law could have been passed to stop people gluing, chaining, fixing themselves anywhere that causes significant disruption to people going about their lawful business or costing businesses significant expense or loss of profit.
Let people protesting preposterous weather dependent energy policies try the same tactic, and see how quickly they are shifted.
Why, in the US, get invited into a building and sit at someone’s desk and see how the legal system works for you. 21 months in prison and still no trial date?
I think the only thing to do is for the company to remove all their property from the building weld the doors and windows shut and leave these bottom feeders to their protest.
Glued themselves to the floor and now they can’t get up for normal bodily functions. What did they expect?
Also they apparently don’t like having the heat shut off, but isn’t that what they wanted for all the world?

I was curious how this was playing out, so I looked for an update.
They’re still there after 24 hours.
They complained about security making the rounds throughout the night and shining their flashlights. What do these yahoos expect? There’s probably a couple of million dollars of Porsche inventory on the premises. Of course the business is going to pay for a bit of security, and security is going to do what they normally do; make the normal rounds with a special eye on the protesters to make sure there’s no additional monkey business.
The business has already said they support the right of the protesters to protest. Have at it. Any aid or help would be protesting against themselves, and that’s just plain daft.
I suspect that the protesters will be getting mighty thirsty soon. Being scientists and all, I’m sure they are aware that their fresh urine is sterile. Let the protesters figure things out on their own. After all, they are the Smartest People In The Room, right?
Oh, one additional bit. It seems there were 15 who are in on this but only 9 glued themselves to the floor. The free-range protesters were told that if they left, they would not be permitted to come back in.
So maybe the support team is able to get water to the ones glued down, but definitely no sandwich or coffee runs.
I suspect it’s starting to get pretty ripe in that showroom about now.

After 42 hours the protesters were removed by police, who brought a doctor along to do the ungluing part.
So I was wrong about the 4 days. It seems the dealership needs to run its business like a business and had enough. Time to get on with it. Fantasy playtime is over.
The protesters asked the dealership manager (owner?) to talk to VW and tell them to stop ruining the world or whatever nonsense. The dealership was in no mood to play messenger for the group.
The protesters were surprised when, instead doing what they demanded, the dealership called the police and had the protesters removed and arrested.
For a bunch of allegedly smart people, those protesters sure are stupid. What in the Sam Hill were they expecting? No, the dealership wasn’t going to cater to them or accept and carry out their demands.
They seemed so surprised that the dealership didn’t instantly recognize their morally superior position and the righteousness of their cause and do whatever the protesters demanded the dealership do.

It seems there are German laws against at least some of the protesters’ actions, or they wouldn’t have arrested them.
I’m hoping for a bonus lawsuit by the dealership for damages will be filed. It’s about time a little piling on was done to discourage the nutcases.
But given the surprise of the protesters over the reality of how their stunt went versus how they fantasized it would all play out, I don’t think any lessons have been learned by them. I think they are going to continue their dumbassedness because “those people just don’t understand.”
I’m hoping to stumble across the legal outcome of all this. Maybe I’ll get lucky there.
