Things NASA climate scientists say:

Peter Kalmus is a Data Scientist working at NASA’s Jet Propulsion laboratory.

Peter came to JPL Earth Science from astrophysics, where he spent eight years designing and implementing searches for gravitational waves from supernovae, gamma-ray bursts, and magnetars as a member of the LIGO collaboration. He now uses remote sensing data to study biodiversity, stratocumulus clouds (which cool the Earth), and severe convective environments as a member of JPL’s Science Data Modeling and Computing Group. He is also interested in improving how we use and interpret scientific data, and applying improvements to ecological projections and data fusion technologies.

Twitter user Zander “32-bar guitar riffs” Noriega put up a compilation of his some of Peter’s tweets over the last couple of years and gave me permission to publish it. Here it is. Click on images to expand.

He spends a lot of time whining about how hard he works.

There’s a simple solution to that. Get another job that doesn’t pay as much.

Like most socialists/communists, he wants all the good stuff, he just doesn’t believe he should have to work for any of it.

June 17, 2022 8:55 am

A man living off the fruits of capitalism–Jet Propulsion Labs– funded by taxpaying capitalists complaining of the evils of capitalists? I always ask the Socialism lovers I encounter one question–name one product produced or developed by a socialist country that the world has found necessary or even desirable over the past 100 years, with the possible exception of Rubik’s Cube? And that came from the slackest socialist country, Hungary.

Ahhh . . . just because they self-define as “climate scientists” does not mean they are smart, or even well-versed in the field.

I’ve never seen the definition of the term “climate scientist.” Other than atmospheric physicists, I am unaware of any discipline that deals with climate dynamics. Ocean dynamics is a whole different kettle of fish. Current science has no idea of what is going on there. Only liars assert they know what is going on with AMOC, PDO & etc.

One may take the outputs of unvalidated CliSciFi climate models using wildly divergent imaginary futures and mentally masturbate impacts on any item of interest. That is not science.

“Capitalism is a form of violence”

It never ceases to trigger me when radical Leftists like Kalmus talk about capitalism being violent and deadly. Kalmus, like many of his ilk, conveniently ignores Stalin’s USSR, Chairman Mao’s “Great Leap Forward” in China, Pol Pot’s killing fields in Cambodia, the Korean War (started by the North), etc., etc.

Kalmus’ problem with getting people to listen to him is stupidly believing that people will conveniently forget or ignore the violence and death rate of his own radical ideology in the 20th century.

“Capitalism is no way to live”

Be careful about biting the hand that feeds you Kalmus, because dire poverty can have a tendency to be far more unpleasant than you may ever know. China, India and other nations are in midst of developing their economies for a reason.

If Kalmus didn’t already exist, we would have to invent him, because he makes life today more interesting to put it mildly. For many though, he is probably a little too interesting — including me.

Under capitalism, people have to cooperate with each other in order to get things done.
Under socialism, because so much is decided by government, who you know matters more than what you know. Socialism pits people against each other and the strongest gets to control everyone else.

Another totally grandiose elitist who has all the solutions. We must not be born, we must not eat, we must not buy anything, we must not have cars, we must not have desires, we must not fly, we must not procreate, we must depopulate the globe. Mother Universe is the only divine object. This dude is obvious a true prophet of Mother Universe. All other claims of deity are sectarian and dangerous. Sounds like he wants Mother Universe to be worshipped by sub-human-machine like species. This is the reason Crispr CAS 9 tech needs to be strictly controlled otherwise people like this would design a new genome of humans in their own idealized subhuman image. (think tiny people who consume 100 times less, have very small brains and work like machines made out of titanium…. easily shipped to the moon or Mars to grow bugs and live off them)

A totally depopulated world run by machines would leave a Nirvana Paradise for true prophets of Mother Universe…. the worthy ones. I guess machines will continue to grow great Chardonnay in Macon, whip up foie gras (from new genome of duck liver bugs) and skewer large genetically designed flying Beluga sturgeon roaches for genuine Russian Beluga Caviar for the remaining Mother Universe prophets. And for Entertainment they will listen to ancient Toscanini’s Philadelphia Philharmonic recording and DEVO. The pristine new world of Mother Universe will be called Dystopiata… :LOL

A profile designed to praise him was in a recent WUWT posting. Reading it I was convinced he is a raving lunatic destroying the lives of his wife and 2 sons (although she seems a basket case on her own). It galls me to know my taxes go to pay his government sinecure.

“Capitalism is a form of violence”

“Capitalism is no way to live”

“We can’t count on technology and capitalism to solve climate when they are what got us here”

So what’s the alternative?
Socialism? Communism? Some other form of Government where those that have risen (or been born into) the top rule the rest of us?
The problem with all forms of Government or economics is that there are people involved.
People are flawed. There will always be those who will connive and cheat their way to the top.
At least in a “Capitalist” economy those at the top will go broke unless us minions have something to spend.

So capitalism and the technology so derived cannot solve our technical problems? Indigenous wisdom will save us all?

June 17, 2022 11:01 am

There used to be a simple rejoinder for people who proposed radical societal sacrifices.

“You first.”

Of course, they never volunteer. The wealthier preachers see no irony in their travels by private jet to self-congratulatory conferences around the world. They live in multi-million-dollar oceanfront mansions that would soon include a first-floor master swimming pool if their predictions of climageddon were correct.

I don’t get the sense they inspire anyone. To be successful at religion (and being an atheist, none of this crap works for me anyway), one has to walk the talk in order to inspire. So it has to be indoctrination.

And mass indoctrination leads to a lack of recognition of individual rights, as we’re starting to see in the western world. These periods are always punctuated by war, because when you’ve indoctrinated the people, you have to blame outside influences for all the problems in your world in order to maintain power.

I worry a lot about the next world war. We are in a time that looks a lot like Wilson’s 1910s. China and Russia are openly talking about first strike. And our government’s answer is to concede that we cannot live without their oil and metals. With that power, they demand our subservience, one way or another.

And there’s nothing we can do, because our children are indoctrinated and know nothing about history.

Quite right to describe him as a hypocrital evangelist of the AGW religion. He is among the priestly class of this new religion.

What is going on is that they were only able to convert some Americans to the AGW cult, so they now use the powers of government to force their views upon society at large.

At least with traditional religions, since the reformation, one had the freedom to not practice what they didn’t believe, or to practice it privately if you did.

I did talk to one National Park Ranger at Mt. Rainier near Seattle and he believed that “humans” should be banned from the park as they are a “non-native, invasive specie” that doesn’t belong there. How many other una-bomber nutcases are out there roaming the back-country as GS-7 Federal Govt employees? Most of them I suspect. I am somewhat sympathetic to their “man/bad nature/good” philosophy, but it doesn’t appear to stop them from collecting all the latest outdoor gear for their own comfort…and yes, that is an LPG tank behind the staff cabin.

“Hording wealth” means two things

The individual is being rewarded for doing something valuable enough that people are willing to pay for it.

The individual is exercising self restraint on using resources.

Plus, the individuals restraint in spending is affording resources for others to invest.

There are two fairly reliable ways to meet minimum needs in first world countries:
1/ Set up a small subsistence farm in a low cost area
2/ Unemployment benefits / social welfare

Both of these seem to be defined as “poverty”

These are not NASA scientists. They are GISS scientists whose main function is to create and publish AGW propaganda targeted especially at schools. Because GISS comes under the NASA umbrella, they are allowed to use NASA’s good name to enhance the credibility of their propaganda. One of Carter’s last acts as president was to appoint the infamous anti CO2 activist, James Hansen, as director. Gavin Schmidt is his protégé and successor.
GISS is the most potent weapon in the Climate Mafia’s arsenal.

I find many of these statements not so wrong.
for instance I d’ also prefer a world without cars, but I need to move nad therefore I need cars. But I find that people driving 300m (yes I wrote three hundred meter) to the supermarket, or families with 4 adults (parents and 2 adult children) and 4 cars render the presence of cars more difficult to bear.

I also find that capitalism is if not moderated somehow very negative. In the USA you have the worst rate of poverty with a lot of homeless that we do not see in Europe where or capitalism has been moderated by state intervention.

maximising profit leads to an unbearable world: for instance, let’s take an industry that suddenly moves 300km and forces the employees either to move with it or drive to work on Monday and back home on Friday evening.

So it’s not all wrong that he said.

Europe is so civilized because it hasn’t had to pay to defend itself for over 75 years and it borrows to pay for its welfare state. It’s all going to collapse of course, but you get to feel high and mighty now.

Well, as he has decided to pontificate at such length in public…

What a total train-wreck of a career path. Obviously not very good at anything he has tried to do in the past. Except perhaps self-publicity. Just collecting lots of basically meaningless credentials along the way. Nice if you can afford it. As he comes from an economically very comfortable background he most certainly can.

Just reinforces the belief that “climates science” has become the refuge of the scientifically incompetent, talentless, and low ability. Oh yes, and the straight up cranks. This generations Eugenics.

Very different from 40 or 50 years ago when atmospheric sciences and paelo-climatology although a fairly small area had some really first rate people doing research and writing papers. All long retired.

So now left to the scientifically third rate hustlers that always flock to whatever the current lucrative Cargo Cult “science” happens to be. Lots of research grant money in “Climate Science”. Lots. And as there is no real science involved it does not matter how low/no quality your published research is.

In fact its the perfect little scam for a careerist with no actual talent.
