No, she wasn’t. She already had her mind made up.

She is mindless and lacks any capability for critical thinking (thus she can’t actually make up her mind). She continually asked questions then interrupted Marc’s answers and refutations with more drivel she has been spoon fed by the Gores, Gates, Bezos, and Soros of the world.

That was one of the most disgraceful and ignorant questioning I’ve seen, other than Biden’s dementia blather…and she graduated from some college. Shameful. 🙁

“Great responses but she wasn’t listening.”
That is also my impression!
The question might be how can you change that and beside all these political angles, I would say the science is a good start.
The paper of R. Connolly et al. earlier this year https://arxiv.org/abs/2105.12126 “For all 5 NH temperature series, different TSI estimates implied everything from recent global warming being mostly human-caused to it being mostly natural.”

Or the implications when the GISS NASA director G. Schmidt says “Many of the world’s leading models are now projecting warming rates that most scientists, including the modelmakers themselves, believe are implausibly fast”
To me it seems to be a judgement on this own work over the last few decades and something M. Morano talks about when scientists push an agenda. Schmidt was involved in the political process and got one of the most prestigious jobs out of it.

Eye opening for me was S. McIntyre´s post about the Cape Ghir series (https://climateaudit.org/2021/08/11/the-ipcc-ar6-hockeystick/):
“Precisely why local Cape Ghir (offshore Morocco) temperatures were going down is somewhat of a quandary. Rather than figuring out this quandary, Neukom and the woke just turn the series upside down, following the example of Upside Down Mann by orienting the series according to its correlation with target instrumental temperature, even in their “CPS” reconstruction – a technique that is normally resistant to opportunistic flipping of proxies to enhance HS-ness of a final reconstruction.”

I actually went over to RealClimate and asked about it (https://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2021/08/deciphering-the-spm-ar6-wg1-code/ towards the very end of those discussions).
G. Schmidt pointed to the paper by H. V. McGregor introducing this proxy and stating about this type of data “..Upwelling-driven SSTs also vary out of phase with millennial-scale changes in Northern Hemisphere temperature anomalies (NHTAs) and show relatively warm conditions during the Little Ice Age and relatively cool conditions during the Medieval Warm Period…”
Which prompted Neukom to flip the data and use it as temperature proxy without any restritions or commetns to create figure 1a in the SPM IPCC6.

My problem with this particular dataset and procedure is, that even a layman can see that “Looking at the data [..] you can see that the temperature stays around 19.6°C for more than 2000 years before recently dropping by about 2°C which represents a change about 10x stronger than any previous oscillation”
And this was not addressed by Neukom or the experts over there and also further post by me (critical, expecially of Mann and using such “science” for more than 25years without ever correcting or commenting his proven errors, were censored beside being well within the rules of that page.

I believe with facts like that we might be able to get journalists to think about the idea that there is more than one angle to this field, even so the mainstream pushes their version hard (it might not be 97%+ of all publications, but it is more than 51%)

The becalming presumably ended within hours of your posting. Very healthy winds blew up here (Cornwall, UK) late afternoon and lasted all night. Unfortunately little power was generated by the three turbines visible from our upstairs windows as they had all locked out during the night, presumably to prevent overspeed.

The Climate Emergency takes on a new perspective listening to this.

Some local government councils in Australia have declared “Climate Emergencies”. For them it has become an excuse to buy high cost, low range electric vehicles and reduce frequency of rubbish collections.

Victorian State government have demonstrated what they can get away with using emergency powers. Melbourne will come out of its 6th lockdown today. Now totalling 263 days of nighttime curfews and the only reasons for leaving home for up to an hour was for exercise, purchase essential supplies and seeking medical attention. So far there is no sign of the State government declaring a Climate Emergency but the Greens, a significant force in the State, are calling for it. Need to stay alert on this!

Rick, just for giggle, try what I did –

phone your Council and ask them what urgent life preserving actions you are required to take to keep yourself and your loved ones alive through this critical period.
Should you have canned food, bottled water, candles, blankets, medications, firearms ready stored in your shelter?
How long are you expected to hunker down for until the emergency is declared over?
Is looting of vacant houses a possibility?

I was put on hold for 5 mins until the phone line just went dead, then when I phoned back I was told by a “manager” that all crank calls are reported to police.

I said that’s great to know – we don’t want any cranks not taking this emergency seriously.

The line went dead again . . .

Kennedy is a complete waste of space. The edited version of the interview demonstrates that every time Kennedy gets a response which repudiates what she wants us to believe the response is edited out. Cherry picked Lake Mead implied soaring temperatures X = Y its climate change which has only happened after 1760. Kennedy like the rest of the bigots wouldn’t be alive to prevaricate if humanity had not exploited fossil fuels. 1300’s planet struggled to feed 350 million now we produce enough food for 10 billion. I cannot comprehend the purpose of implying we live in the worst of times when all of the evidence makes it abundantly clear we are living in the best of times but this new age obstructive puritanism is dedicated to making ordinary folk experience a sack cloth and ashes existence seemingly to protect the celebrity lifestyles of the very rich like media flunkies who to all intents and purpose appear to be arithmetically challenged except when it comes to their multi million dollar life styles. How did Kennedy get from Washington to Las Vegas to record this nonsense it wasn’t fossil fuels was it? Maybe it was a broomstick.

Lake Mead…. Hmmmmm I wonder if there are any other factors at work here:

From Wikipedia:

Impact of growth on water supplyA growing population means the Las Vegas Valley used 1.2 billion US gallons (4.5×109 L) more water in 2014 than in 2011. Although water conservation efforts implemented in the wake of a 2002 drought have had some success, local water consumption remains 30 percent more than in Los Angeles, and over three times that of San Francisco metropolitan area residents. The Southern Nevada Water Authority is building a $1.4 billion tunnel and pumping station to bring water from Lake Mead, has purchased water rights throughout Nevada, and has planned a controversial $3.2 billion pipeline across half the state. By law, the Las Vegas Water Service District “may deny any request for a water commitment or request for a water connection if the District has an inadequate supply of water.” However, limiting growth on the basis of an inadequate water supply has been unpopular with the casino and building industries.

Ahh.

Damn, I thought as much, it’s all climate change again.

The important thing to note is that none of this interview is has anything to do with ‘rational’ argument, Even less does it illustrate ‘Nullus in Verba’, ie,’ take no-one’s word for it’. The shoddy use of examples is much more like another discipline, Sociology, which too cherry-picks data to ‘expose’ ‘capitalism’. The truly sinister postioning of ‘Jenny King’ and her ‘Institute for Strategic Dialogue’ (sic) (sick!) in its role as God Speaks Truly to Sinners is both a warning and an example. The time for agument is past.

The communication theories these people have been taught need now to become part of our fightback. Too much time is spent in dialogue, too little in strategy which invalidates their discourse. They may be scientifically illiterate, but by George, they understand the power of the media narrative.

Marc Morano is honest, but on the back foot. Why does she believe the people she does? Because there’s a lot of them? Because they have money and power? A roomful of fools makes one big fool. This interview could form the start of a training course.

Contrast it with Jordan Peterson’s utter astonishment at Cathy Newman’s eye watering facetiousness. This is a good example of getting on the throne to watch the other go down the drain. He uses her (mis-)understanding to validate his position, so that he can simply deliver his argument. He understands her desire to de-legitimise him (NOT ‘prove him wrong’) and he won’t put up with it.

Its a clever narrative but it shows we stop needing to shot hoax and conspiracy (group think and politics yes) and seek to be more moderate and get younger people involved.

As I argue above, delegitmise, don’t deal.Just as Post Modernists like her are trained. Instead, he hands his spear over to her:’You are a bunch of crackpots’. Covid evidence is too complex to be conclusive.

He might have remembered the HCQ debacle, an anti-malarial in common use in Africa helping the low C-19 rate there. Once Trump said it was good, all hell broke loose, and old sick people died to prove he was Satan. Our rulers won precisely because of the enormous lack of knowlege. They understand how to use this lack completely. For them, ‘Ignorance is Strength’.

Once more, more training in techniques which challenge interviewers on their narratives is vital.Losing one’s temper is unmannerly. Worse it hands the debate to the enemy. This interview would make a good starting point for analysis. Turn the enemy’s dogs against them for a change.

Here’s a good start

She was well versed on the talking points.
Morano was well versed on the facts and the politiks behind CAGW.
Whenever she switched when Marc was refuting a talking point, she switched to another talking point.
I remember a past clip where a reporter was interviewing Hayhoe. Marc came down the steps to join in. Hayhoe clammed up. Though there were a couple of times when it was obvious she started to say something but refused to continue.
A “useful idiot” continued but a “climate scientist” clammed up.

The assertion that Lake Mead is dropping from climate change starting in the year 2000 is pure horseshi+. Read “Cadillac Desert – The American West and its Disappearing Water” by Marc Reisner written in 1986 on how the Colorado River was over subscribed since the time that Hoover Dam created Lake Mead in 1935. The Colorado’s flow was estimated to be much larger than it really is more than 80 years ago and consequently they are taking too much water out of the lake. That is why the lake is dropping. There is NO correlation between the level of Lake Mead and climate. NONE.

Instead of getting clarification on what he means, she strings together key words to oversimplify it into a strawman she can set on fire. Then she declares victory and makes another accusation. Just like the reporter interviewing Morano. I wonder if they teach this meta-technique in school? Be pushy, illogical and repetetive until you provoke anger and you win because you are a victim and he is the nut?

Lake Mead! Maybe she should learn a bit more about it before she talks about it. California has always wanted more out of the dam that they are supposed to get. Part of the problem is they are tearing down dams and letting water go to the ocean instead of holding it.

Arizona while new kid on the block has another problem. It isn’t using all the water they have been given and if they leave it behind the dam, they lose it. So they store the excess water underground. Currently there isn’t a way to recover it as they figured they would build that when they needed it. The rules have been changed and now Arizona can bank the excess water without losing it. That will probably help over the next few years but we need some rainfall before it becomes noticeable.

The other issue is long term droughts are common in this area. We have Indian ruins that are hundreds of years old and it is believed that their collapse was the result of a long term drought.

This is a desert and by definition, there isn’t much water. That’s why we build dams that are able to withstand multi year droughts. Unfortunately even with over 100 years of experience with dams, we still have a few thing to learn about retaining and using water.
