She is mindless and lacks any capability for critical thinking (thus she can’t actually make up her mind). She continually asked questions then interrupted Marc’s answers and refutations with more drivel she has been spoon fed by the Gores, Gates, Bezos, and Soros of the world.

That was one of the most disgraceful and ignorant questioning I’ve seen, other than Biden’s dementia blather…and she graduated from some college. Shameful. 🙁

“Great responses but she wasn’t listening.”
That is also my impression!
The question might be how can you change that and beside all these political angles, I would say the science is a good start.
The paper of R. Connolly et al. earlier this year “For all 5 NH temperature series, different TSI estimates implied everything from recent global warming being mostly human-caused to it being mostly natural.”

Or the implications when the GISS NASA director G. Schmidt says “Many of the world’s leading models are now projecting warming rates that most scientists, including the modelmakers themselves, believe are implausibly fast”
To me it seems to be a judgement on this own work over the last few decades and something M. Morano talks about when scientists push an agenda. Schmidt was involved in the political process and got one of the most prestigious jobs out of it.

Eye opening for me was S. McIntyre´s post about the Cape Ghir series (
“Precisely why local Cape Ghir (offshore Morocco) temperatures were going down is somewhat of a quandary. Rather than figuring out this quandary, Neukom and the woke just turn the series upside down, following the example of Upside Down Mann by orienting the series according to its correlation with target instrumental temperature, even in their “CPS” reconstruction – a technique that is normally resistant to opportunistic flipping of proxies to enhance HS-ness of a final reconstruction.”

I actually went over to RealClimate and asked about it ( towards the very end of those discussions).
G. Schmidt pointed to the paper by H. V. McGregor introducing this proxy and stating about this type of data “..Upwelling-driven SSTs also vary out of phase with millennial-scale changes in Northern Hemisphere temperature anomalies (NHTAs) and show relatively warm conditions during the Little Ice Age and relatively cool conditions during the Medieval Warm Period…”
Which prompted Neukom to flip the data and use it as temperature proxy without any restritions or commetns to create figure 1a in the SPM IPCC6.

My problem with this particular dataset and procedure is, that even a layman can see that “Looking at the data [..] you can see that the temperature stays around 19.6°C for more than 2000 years before recently dropping by about 2°C which represents a change about 10x stronger than any previous oscillation”
And this was not addressed by Neukom or the experts over there and also further post by me (critical, expecially of Mann and using such “science” for more than 25years without ever correcting or commenting his proven errors, were censored beside being well within the rules of that page.

I believe with facts like that we might be able to get journalists to think about the idea that there is more than one angle to this field, even so the mainstream pushes their version hard (it might not be 97%+ of all publications, but it is more than 51%)

The becalming presumably ended within hours of your posting. Very healthy winds blew up here (Cornwall, UK) late afternoon and lasted all night. Unfortunately little power was generated by the three turbines visible from our upstairs windows as they had all locked out during the night, presumably to prevent overspeed.

The Climate Emergency takes on a new perspective listening to this.

Some local government councils in Australia have declared “Climate Emergencies”. For them it has become an excuse to buy high cost, low range electric vehicles and reduce frequency of rubbish collections.

Victorian State government have demonstrated what they can get away with using emergency powers. Melbourne will come out of its 6th lockdown today. Now totalling 263 days of nighttime curfews and the only reasons for leaving home for up to an hour was for exercise, purchase essential supplies and seeking medical attention. So far there is no sign of the State government declaring a Climate Emergency but the Greens, a significant force in the State, are calling for it. Need to stay alert on this!

Rick, just for giggle, try what I did –

phone your Council and ask them what urgent life preserving actions you are required to take to keep yourself and your loved ones alive through this critical period.
Should you have canned food, bottled water, candles, blankets, medications, firearms ready stored in your shelter?
How long are you expected to hunker down for until the emergency is declared over?
Is looting of vacant houses a possibility?

I was put on hold for 5 mins until the phone line just went dead, then when I phoned back I was told by a “manager” that all crank calls are reported to police.

I said that’s great to know – we don’t want any cranks not taking this emergency seriously.

The line went dead again . . .

Kennedy is a complete waste of space. The edited version of the interview demonstrates that every time Kennedy gets a response which repudiates what she wants us to believe the response is edited out. Cherry picked Lake Mead implied soaring temperatures X = Y its climate change which has only happened after 1760. Kennedy like the rest of the bigots wouldn’t be alive to prevaricate if humanity had not exploited fossil fuels. 1300’s planet struggled to feed 350 million now we produce enough food for 10 billion. I cannot comprehend the purpose of implying we live in the worst of times when all of the evidence makes it abundantly clear we are living in the best of times but this new age obstructive puritanism is dedicated to making ordinary folk experience a sack cloth and ashes existence seemingly to protect the celebrity lifestyles of the very rich like media flunkies who to all intents and purpose appear to be arithmetically challenged except when it comes to their multi million dollar life styles. How did Kennedy get from Washington to Las Vegas to record this nonsense it wasn’t fossil fuels was it? Maybe it was a broomstick.

Lake Mead…. Hmmmmm I wonder if there are any other factors at work here:

From Wikipedia:

Impact of growth on water supplyA growing population means the Las Vegas Valley used 1.2 billion US gallons (4.5×109 L) more water in 2014 than in 2011. Although water conservation efforts implemented in the wake of a 2002 drought have had some success, local water consumption remains 30 percent more than in Los Angeles, and over three times that of San Francisco metropolitan area residents. The Southern Nevada Water Authority is building a $1.4 billion tunnel and pumping station to bring water from Lake Mead, has purchased water rights throughout Nevada, and has planned a controversial $3.2 billion pipeline across half the state. By law, the Las Vegas Water Service District “may deny any request for a water commitment or request for a water connection if the District has an inadequate supply of water.” However, limiting growth on the basis of an inadequate water supply has been unpopular with the casino and building industries.

Damn, I thought as much, it’s all climate change again.

The important thing to note is that none of this interview is has anything to do with ‘rational’ argument, Even less does it illustrate ‘Nullus in Verba’, ie,’ take no-one’s word for it’. The shoddy use of examples is much more like another discipline, Sociology, which too cherry-picks data to ‘expose’ ‘capitalism’. The truly sinister postioning of ‘Jenny King’ and her ‘Institute for Strategic Dialogue’ (sic) (sick!) in its role as God Speaks Truly to Sinners is both a warning and an example. The time for agument is past.

The communication theories these people have been taught need now to become part of our fightback. Too much time is spent in dialogue, too little in strategy which invalidates their discourse. They may be scientifically illiterate, but by George, they understand the power of the media narrative.

Marc Morano is honest, but on the back foot. Why does she believe the people she does? Because there’s a lot of them? Because they have money and power? A roomful of fools makes one big fool. This interview could form the start of a training course.

Contrast it with Jordan Peterson’s utter astonishment at Cathy Newman’s eye watering facetiousness. This is a good example of getting on the throne to watch the other go down the drain. He uses her (mis-)understanding to validate his position, so that he can simply deliver his argument. He understands her desire to de-legitimise him (NOT ‘prove him wrong’) and he won’t put up with it.

I remember a past clip where a reporter was interviewing Hayhoe. Marc came down the steps to join in. Hayhoe clammed up. Though there were a couple of times when it was obvious she started to say something but refused to continue.
A “useful idiot” continued but a “climate scientist” clammed up.

October 20, 2021 4:47 pm

The assertion that Lake Mead is dropping from climate change starting in the year 2000 is pure horseshi+. Read “Cadillac Desert – The American West and its Disappearing Water” by Marc Reisner written in 1986 on how the Colorado River was over subscribed since the time that Hoover Dam created Lake Mead in 1935. The Colorado’s flow was estimated to be much larger than it really is more than 80 years ago and consequently they are taking too much water out of the lake. That is why the lake is dropping. There is NO correlation between the level of Lake Mead and climate. NONE.

Instead of getting clarification on what he means, she strings together key words to oversimplify it into a strawman she can set on fire. Then she declares victory and makes another accusation. Just like the reporter interviewing Morano. I wonder if they teach this meta-technique in school? October 20, 2021 6:06 pm

Lake Mead! Maybe she should learn a bit more about it before she talks about it. California has always wanted more out of the dam that they are supposed to get. Part of the problem is they are tearing down dams and letting water go to the ocean instead of holding it.

Arizona while new kid on the block has another problem. It isn’t using all the water they have been given and if they leave it behind the dam, they lose it. So they store the excess water underground. Currently there isn’t a way to recover it as they figured they would build that when they needed it. The rules have been changed and now Arizona can bank the excess water without losing it. That will probably help over the next few years but we need some rainfall before it becomes noticeable.

The other issue is long term droughts are common in this area. We have Indian ruins that are hundreds of years old and it is believed that their collapse was the result of a long term drought.

This is a desert and by definition, there isn’t much water. That’s why we build dams that are able to withstand multi year droughts. Unfortunately even with over 100 years of experience with dams, we still have a few thing to learn about retaining and using water.

Updated by Potsdam’s Helmholtz Research Center (HRC), the solar system’s daily geomagnetic disturbance (“Space Weather”) Ap Index relates global temperatures to sunspot activity via Earth’s total solar irradiance (TSI) as solar magnetic fields (SMFs) affect the intensity of ambient Cosmic Radiation. NB: See a preposterously schtoopid Green Party advocate’s projection of 7-meter (21 ft.) global sea-level rises by AD 2100, citing Potsdam’s notorious junk-science Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK).

As applied by Svensmark-Zharkova from c. 2005 to 2016, Ap Index levels tie to Cosmic Ray incidence via sunspot activity driving solar magnetic fields, governing Total Solar Irradiance (TSI) influencing global temperatures. Absent astro-geophysical factors –orbital and polar inclination, equinoctial precession, continental plate-tectonic dispositions– this confirms Australian Robert Holmes’ empirical 2017 Mean Molar Mass version of the Ideal Gas Law, where any planet’s Global Atmospheric Surface Temperature (GAST) = PM/Rp (qv). Since this includes no “carbon footprint” (CO2) industrial/fossil-fuel [sic] component, Holmes’ Law decisively discredits Green Gangsters’ nefarious emissions fraud.

Over half-a-century from 1968, then 1978, every syllable of Klimat Kooks’ attitudinal anthropogenic global warming (AGW) mythos has proved ridiculously 180ᵒ dead-wrong. Yet Green Gangsters’ hidden-agenda narrative persists because crony-socialists’ money and power are at stake. Meantime, as Potsdam’s HRC Ap Index breaches 1878 levels below -50 from c. 2006 – 2107+, Earth’s cyclical 102-kiloyear post-Holocene glaciations stir awake, presaging a recurrent Pliocene-Pleistocene chill-phase from 3.6-million YBP, due to last another 16 – 24+ million years.

Where it went wrong and how it will never progress is with the ‘denier’ word.
The very fact that it came into usage tells everyone that its users don’t know nor understand The Science that they claim to understand. They use the Ad-Hom to deflect any questioning.

If someone anyone calls you a ‘denier’ – admit it, tell them you are.
Tell them that The Science Is Junk

  • All substances in this Universe absorb electromagnetic radiation. IOW The atmosphere would soak up radiated energy from the surface anyway, without assistance of Green House Gases(GHGs) and ‘get warm’
  • OK, some materials, gases in the atmosphere, absorb at very particular wavelengths. It’s what we might observe as ‘colour’

Now where it all goes wrong:

  • The GHGs absorb at their ‘colour’ but the process is one of what happens in a Carnot Heat Engine. IOW The incoming packet of energy (photon if you like) becomes 2 significant new parts.
  • One part stays with the GHG and adds to its energy content but the other part continues its journey to ‘wherever’ ……
  • …….the Carnot equation tells you how much goes each separate way
  • Next we’re told that ‘The energy is re-emitted in all directions‘. This is no lie but is the actual moment where The Emperor makes an appearance for 3 reasons
  • 1/ Because of Carnot, the re-emitted energy is not the same as the absorbed energy – the 1st Law says that it must have longer wavelength and be = colder
  • 2/ It matters not one jot about ‘emitted in all directions‘ – what matters is whether it is absorbed in all directions
  • 3/ At this point it would have been nice if the substance in question, CO2, actually did any measurable emitting at the temps and pressures of the atmosphere.
  • Point 2 above is the important one…..
  • … is where the 2nd Law comes into play (the science of Carnot, Einstein, Entropy, Jozef Stefan, the Cooling Universe, Joule etc etc) in fact if the re-emitted energy headed downwards from wherever it was emitted, it has no-place to go. It is, by the above explanation, much colder than anywhere/everywhere below its source – Lapse Rate tells us so
  • The re-emitted energy will thus simply bounce/reflect/refract/scatter around in the space/volume/wherever until it finds itself headed upwards and outwards- where it and its Carnot created sibling where headed anyway

The Whole Theory Of The Green House Gases is abject nonsense
We need a Plate Tectonics Moment here…… we really do

Work it out..
Lets be generous and allow CO2 an emissivity of 0.001 ##
Take the average temperature of the Troposphere to be minus 15 Celsius or 258 Kelvin
Take Stefan’s Const. = 5.67 times Ten to the minus Eight

I get 251 milliwatts per square metre

and that is going to Trash The World.
Yes, Intelligent Life is = No More

## that’s CO2’s figure at 33 Celsius (306 Kelvin) and a partial pressure of 340ppm as measured by Hottel in 1954. A guy name of Leckner repeated the experiment and got a smaller number)

Reply to self but aimed at Alert Readers and Agile Minds..
Does or does that explanation above tell you that ‘Green House Gases’ might have a Cooling Effect…
By shattering high energy/temp photons into colder ones?
> If the original photon had not encountered a GHG, it might have been absorbed by a non-GHG and really actually had a Warming Effect

But after a warm photon’s encounter with a GHG, the 2 resulting cold photons can only heat any thing/place/where that is colder than they are at their new wavelength and that place is never below where that encounter occurred. They can not return to the surface.

Well yes they can but there’s no place for them to go/stay/be absorbed

Maybe they got it right the first time, back in the 70’s, when GHGs caused cooling

We need a Plate Tectonics Moment here…… we really do”

You won’t get one simply because that would be off narrative, wouldn’t it.

What stood out for me in these videos was, the mention of “Green Tyranny”, I thought that was a good description, and it was funny when the reporter told the assembled skeptics about how the weather was getting more extreme because of CO2, and the whole audience laughed out loud.

The reporter was on a misson to discredit the conference. Marc is lucky she let him get a word in edgewise.

Amazing that deaths from extreme weather has declined by 90%+ since the 1930s as the world’s population has exploded.

“all of those control systems onto the climate” – as reported on WUWT a while back – “What this memo shows is EPA’s recognizing it had to move its global warming campaign away from the failed model of discredited Big Green pressure groups and their “mascots” the polar bears and polar ice caps, that “climate” has proved “consistently — an unpersuasive argument to make.” In it we see the birth of the breathtakingly disingenuous “shift from making this about the polar caps [to] about our neighbor with respiratory illness…”.

regarding deaths from covid- CDC data “For over 5% of these deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned on the death certificate. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 4.0 additional conditions or causes per death” Average age of death with covid was 82 years , average life span is 82 years. How long does a person with an average age of 82 year have to live with 4 serious diseases. –

The highlight for me was when she said that the people at the Heartland Institute were not interested in listening to other points of view. And she said it with such a straight face.
But I have to give it to her. She was sent to do a hatchet job and she used all of the techniques you would expect. The scary description of the lake and the blame being given to ‘climate change’ with no evidence whatsoever. The attempt to show that people at the conference were crackpots – why else would someone come dressed as Elvis? The description of Marc Marano as a ‘self-described’ environmental journalist. And the turning to the ‘expert’ to get an ‘impartial’ view of the views being put forward.

What is really strange is the so-called climate journalists complete and utter incomprehension of where the actual severe crisis lies – in the financial system.
They cannot understand Davos-speak, even when Davos ordains owning nothing.

Could it be that people actually do see something really wrong when a house or student loan is unpayable, and now auto fuel, electricity? In other words, are they expressing severe misgivings in the wrong words ”climate” and CO2, fossil this and that? Davos is hijacking the mind.
I think Ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern is right – a sudden shift to the reality, he identifies as ‘metanoia’ a turning of the mind upside down, away from hubris and overweening arrogance, Davos knows can happen without apparent warning anytime.

In the second video

Reporter : You’re all having a good laugh, but how do you account for these things? [Forest fires, floods, droughts]

Responder : You need to be very precise in what you are alleging…

And cut there, move on.

The Channel 4 viewer will never know what this ‘impartial’ reporter might have refused to learn in the minutes that followed.

I assume this was the Channel 4 “journalist” who asked the last question after Anthony Watt’s and Ross McKitrick’s presentations, as recorded on YouTube. She asked nothing about either presentation, instead launching into the ‘97% of scientists’ meme. So she wasn’t there to learn (assuming she has the intelligence to do so), she was there to reinforce her preconceptions. Par for the course for a Channel 4 “journalist”. For anyone who is not aware, Channel 4 is state-owned, but unlike the BBC is funded by advertising.

Marc uses the words that came out of alarmist’s mouths and her response is “you are coopting them.”

This is kind of magical.

What is the name of the activist propagandist that was trying to brow-beat Marc Murano?

I thought she was supposed to be a journalist? Whatever that was, it certainly was not the sort of interview you would expect from a serious journalist.
