‘Buddha would be green’: Dalai Lama calls for urgent climate action

Exclusive: The Dalai Lama warns of terrible consequences of climate inaction

The Dalai Lama has appealed to world leaders to take urgent action against climate change, warning of ecological destruction affecting the lives of billions and ruining the planet, including his birth country, Tibet.

As a call to action he has brought out a new book declaring that if Buddha returned to this world, “Buddha would be green”.

In an interview for Channel 4 News and the Guardian, the Buddhist spiritual leader spoke from the Indian city of Dharamsala, where he has been exiled for six decades. He warned that “global warming may reach such a level that rivers will dry” and that “eventually Tibet will become like Afghanistan”, with terrible consequences for at least a billion people dependent on water from the plateau “at the roof of the world”.

The Dalai Lama has been known to put his foot in it with inadvertent enthusiasm, such as when he said it was possible he could be succeeded by a woman, but that she should be “very, very attractive”. He later made clear that he had meant no offence and said he was deeply sorry that people had been hurt by his words.

Is the Dalai Lama following “the science” or his religion in making pronouncements on climate change™ such as those given in the above article?

Gotta give that prayer wheel a couple of more spins for the answer to that.

A couple of spins on the payer wheel will buy the Dalai some more carbon indulgences to fly around the world for his Cause.

“payer wheel” . . . I see what you did there!

Just more evidence climate change has become its own religion.
When in cultures one pagan religion combines with existing religious structures…
this is called Syncretism Religion.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syncretism

Syncretism /ˈsɪŋkrətɪzəm/ is the combining of different beliefs, while blending practices of various schools of thought. Syncretism involves the merging or assimilation of several originally discrete traditions, especially in the theology and mythology of religion, thus asserting an underlying unity and allowing for an inclusive approach to other faiths. Syncretism also occurs commonly in expressions of arts and culture (known as eclecticism) as well as politics (syncretic politics).

Here the Dalia Lama is combining Buddhism with the Climate pagan religion.

Another example:
The Climate Religion combining with Catholicism.
Encyclical Letter Laudato si’ of the Holy Father Francis
http://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/encyclicals/documents/papa-francesco_20150524_enciclica-laudato-si.html
See para 8. of the above link:

“ Laudato si’, #8. : For human beings… to destroy the biological diversity of God’s creation; for human beings to degrade the integrity of the earth by causing changes in its climate, by stripping the earth of its natural forests or destroying its wetlands; for human beings to contaminate the earth’s waters, its land, its air, and its life – these are sins”.[15] For “to commit a crime against the natural world is a sin against ourselves and a sin against God”.[16]”

In the Protestant sector of Christianity as well:
Katherine Hayhoe is a leading advocate of combining the climate pagan religion with Protestant evangelical movement. Just more junk pseudo-science combing with religion.

Because with today’s climate change science, it is all Take-it-on-Faith crapola.
Hard, unadulterated data not required.

Climate Change is a religion. And the Climate inquisitions are next…
unless logic prevails and the Enlightenment continues.

It’s really a win for us!
Jared was running half the agenda and now he’s finished.
Trump didn’t do a fraction of what he promised.
If he’d done even half he’d have wiped the floor with the Dems.
So now it’s entertainment for 4-years observing swing voter ‘buyer’s remorse’.
Jared is gone which is more important than Trump winning.
If Trump had won Jared would have been emboldened and taken more control of the agenda.
REMEMBER Jared squashed Trump’s push-back against climate alarmist.
One step back & two forward . . .

Once I had a friendly chat with a customs officer on what Tibet is famous for. The way things develop proves him right indeed and I forgive him for delaying our flight.

Population of Afghanistan – 37 million area of Afghanistan 652,860 km²

Population of Tibet – 3.7 million area of Tibet 1,228,000 km²

Looks like Tibet could do a lot worse than being more like Afghanistan

From the article: “The Dalai Lama has appealed to world leaders to take urgent action against climate change, warning of ecological destruction affecting the lives of billions and ruining the planet, including his birth country, Tibet.

As a call to action he has brought out a new book declaring that if Buddha returned to this world, “Buddha would be green”.”

Well, I guess the Dalai Lama joins the Pope in demonstrating no particular insight into how the world and nature works.

You would think if they are talking to Dieties, they would know Human-caused Climate Change is a hoax. They have demonstrated that they are merely human, and prone to be easily influenced by the propagandists of the day.

Buddha said at one time, when he was a young man: “all is sorrow”. All *is* sorrow if you are governed by delusional people such as the authoritarian socialists and communists of the world. Nothing good comes from it.

I’ll try to keep this simple, but that as with many generalisations can cause misunderstanding, so bear with me with knowledge of both sides:
The issue I see it is that Tenzin Gyatso (HH14DL) & most of the other Lamas (Tibetan: བླ་མ་, Wylie: bla-ma;) of Tibet & surrounding countries conflate ClimateChange™ will the general human caused pollution that our deluxe lifestyles inevitably cause; much caused by Asian countries in particular, for example he can see on news articles how Everest (Chomolungma) is strewn with the litter of mountaineers, plus for example destruction of forests in the amazon, without knowing of similar clearance is done for some Renewable energy projects.
He is leader of the Gelugspa lineage, the main one of four main lineages of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism (excluding the previous indigenous Bon.Po), his no.2, of that lineage, the Panchen Lama was stolen by CCP upon recognition at a young age and not seen since.
There are similar leaders of the other lineages such as Karmapa, Sakya Trinzin etc., and a whole substructure of many teachers in Tibetan Buddhism. All now acknowledge HH14DL as the top Lama as he brought all together can be said.
As such the majority of the followers (sangha) east & west, not all I Know, also believe ClimateChange™ to be a major concern without understanding what it means, in an Appeal to his Authority (they naively think he must know!).
They don’t, like many general public, understand how the Science has been hijacked by the new breed of climate scientists complaining about a marginal increase of CO2 levels & its possible some say unproved correlation with the concept of Global Temperature they alarmingly predict causing major problems.
He famously keeps alignment with science figures in the psychological fields, having many conferences as a link to Buddha-dharma; he has always listened to BBC world service, so you could say he is being ‘brainwashed’ by their current agenda they transmit. I doubt he has any awareness of so called Renewable Energy is in itself environmentally damaging, causing mining destruction in places like Tibet itself & relies upon Fossil Fuel or Nuclear baseloading.
Many people won’t know Tibet was itself nothing like the Shangri-La of romantic perception & there was much political intrigue throughout its history in the 3 major regions of Greater Tibet before invasion & subsequent Chinese annexation & occupation of U-tsang, Amdo & Kham (like England, Scotland & Wales make up Britain). Three of the four lineages held control at some stage, and some teachers described parts were like the wild west. Introduction of Buddhism from India quietened the whole area over the centuries and flourished. But there were always problems with neighbouring countries and eventually the 13th Dalai Lama banished Chinese and declared independence 13th February 1913; his army was not strong and its build-up opposed leading to the downfall at the battle of Chamdo (see Seven Years in Tibet) October 1950.

Surely there is something in Buddhism that relates to natural cycles of medium to long duration and the re-recognition of those cycles in questioning alarmist dogma of the Climate Crusades.
