Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg pressed world leaders to cut carbon emissions at the World Economic Forum on Tuesday in Davos, Switzerland.
Thunberg, Time’s 2019 Person of the Year, spoke during a panel discussion after President Donald Trump gave a 30-minute address at the forum.
“Let’s be clear. We don’t need a ‘low carbon economy.’ We don’t need to ‘lower emissions,’” Thunberg, 17, said, according to The New York Times.
“Our emissions have to stop if we are to have a chance to stay below the 1.5-degree target,” she added. (RELATED: Time Magazine Named Climate Activist Greta Thunberg Its ‘Person Of The Year,’ But What Is The Magazine’s Carbon Footprint?)
WATCH:
The annual gathering kicked off Tuesday at the Swiss ski resort of Davos, the highest town in Europe.
“One year ago I came to Davos and told you that our house is on fire,” Thunberg said.
“Our house is still on fire,” the Swedish climate activist added. “Your inaction is fueling the flames by the hour.”

Actually, I think just about everyone on here is missing something important about what she is actually saying. While it’s for the wrong reason, she’s excoriating the climate cretins, liars and parasitic windbags who constitute the trillion dollar industry of people generally being cretins, liars and parasitic windbags while simultaneously stealing humanity’s wealth and prosperity and making it their wealth and prosperity.
There’s a much simpler explanation as to why they do it – they wouldn’t know what a socialist manifesto (or even a calculator) is if it got in the shower with them. It’s called money – easy money for being windbags. We have some on here. Greta has a point although, unfortunately, given that she adds CO2 to the atmosphere too, she and her parents are part of the parasitism.
On that lovely note,
Cheers, Phil

Yes, Greta is really criticizing anyone who is causing CO2 emissions and that includes all the alarmists who are doing so. Greta is effectively calling her fellow alarmists hypocrites. Which they are. Greta is speaking the truth as far as that goes.
Of course, the alarmists pretend she isn’t directing her criticism at them. But she is, she is directlng that criticism at anyone who produces CO2 emissions. If you haven’t gone fossil fuel-free by now, then Greta is talking to you.
I suggest that all grid electricity and natural gas be turned off for 1 week in North America and Europe.
Enthusiasm for Greta would whither away, quite quickly.
“Your inaction is fueling the flames by the hour,” Thunberg declared.
If by “you” you mean “you, corrupted politicians by the green blob” this sentence is quite true.
Indeed the inaction with respect to forests management, mandated by corrupted politicians obeing to green activists have contributed for decades to fuel the Californian and Australian recent wildfires.
“Let’s be clear: we don’t need a low carbon economy, we don’t need to lower emissions — our emissions have to stop.”
You first.
Greta said: “Let’s be clear: we don’t need a low carbon economy, we don’t need to lower emissions — our emissions have to stop.”
Greta has high hopes. Greta is going to be very disappointed because this is not going to happen, it is totally unrealistic and I think even the alarmists are starting to realize this.
Demanding the impossible doesn’t make things better. Especially when the demands are directed at a CO2 problem that doesn’t exist except in the minds of the convinced.
Has anyone ever asked her if she has read the research? The IPCC reports? Anything? Her scolding is tedious and with out any substance, just emotion. Eventually people will get tired of it.
Greta Thunberg is now seventeen, and is five foot ten. She looks as if she hasn’t gone through puberty. (by this I mean, not that he hasn’t, but that her physicality is strikingly immature.) Add her emotional problems to her physical problems, and it is unlikely that this girl is headed for a happy adulthood.
Twenty years from now, she will be thirty-seven. She will probably be living in Sweden, which will still be a peaceable, prosperous country with a temperate climate. Her worst nightmare will have come true. This is not that a mass extinction will occur if the world doesn’t replace fossil fuels, but that it will turn out that no, the habitability of Earth is unaffected by the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide.
Of course I don’t know, but I suspect that Michael Mann and Kevin Trenberth and Phil Jones all understand that their theory could be wrong. In fact, their frantic attempts to protect the data from external scrutiny suggest that they understand full well that the theory has already been falsified. Greta doesn’t know that, which means that, as the years go by, she is in for quite a lesson.
Follow the money !
The very fact that little Greta got a spot at Davos, may well indicate that big business thinks it can turn a few bucks from the planetary doom guilt trip ?
It says much about the diminishing talent pool in marketing when you look at their recent targetting of miniscule trends such as transgenderism, block chain currency, and other passing fads.
At some point somebody will realise that these efforts to virtue signal inevitably show up as a big negative on the bottom line, think Gillette, and Dicks sporting Goods.
Oops. I meant to say that Greta is four foot ten. She’s like a human version of the Grumpy Cat.
But Grumpy Cat is actually funny.
“Our emissions have to stop!”
The jokes write themselves.
Next they’ll be selling small bottles of her tears to help save the planet and they’ll sell millions until someone realised that she would have had to be crying non stop for 4,300 years to produce what’s been sold.
OK Doomer, we hear what you are saying.
Now, go back to school and learn something.
Our house is on fire? From 1880 to 2019, the mean global temperature of the lower atmosphere increased by only 1 (one!) degree centigrade. Is that “on fire”? Greta thinks we are idiots.
Moreover, that small warming over a period of 140 years is a good thing, since we are coming from a cold period, the so-called little ice age.
Greta is just a 9th grader with a general science education and is just paroting what she has been told. If one really thinks that fossil fuels are bad then one should stop making use of all goods and services that involve the use of fossil fuels in any way but apparently she is not doing that. In my community if the use of fossil fuels was banned we would all parrish in short order. The reality is that, according to the paleoclimate record and the work done with models. the climate change we have been experiencing is caused by the sun and the oceans over which mankind has no control Despite the hype, there is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect on climate and there is plenty of scientific rationale to support the conclusion that the climate sensitivity of CO2 is zero. So lowering CO2 emissions will have no effect on climate. I wounder how the home that Greta lives in is heated, how electricity to provide lighting in her home is provided, and how products such as food and clothing get to Greta’s home. I doubt that she is living a fossil fuel free life especially with all the travel she has been undertaking. Instead of going to all of these meetings, she should give her comments over the Internet.
The more I look at G. T. videos the more I doubt that she suffers an Asperger syndrome.
I know some that actually suffer an Asperger syndrome and they definitely DO NOT act as she does in public.
It seems to me that even this G.T.’s Asperger syndrome is a fraud mounted from scratch so that she cannot be held personally responsible for the debilitating stupidities that she utters.
I wondered for just a sec, G. T., and though GrandTour?
Indeed, it appears to be a cover story for what perhaps she does suffer from. She has the symptoms of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome.
Welcome to Greta’s brave new world with user pays for the EV recharge stations when we ICE owners have already paid for our recharge stations in the fuel prices-

Running out of subsidies and not happy with coughing up trying to save the planet Greenies? Whatever happened to the warm inner glow and whatever it takes?
I just do not understand.
This is a 16/17 year old. When I was that age, I thought I knew it all. No one listened. Turns out I didn’t know it all and people were right to not listen. By that age you haven’t experienced enough and you haven’t learned enough and you haven’t understood enough for your thoughts and opinions to be taken seriously by anyone, anywhere.
So why are people falling over themselves to take the word of this girl? Makes no sense to me. Its irrelevant hot air.
I do like as well how her messages are all essentially finger pointing; “you”. Greta love, if you aren’t part of the solution, you’re part of the problem and from where I sit, you, travelling all over the world to point the finger at others makes you part of the problem.
“The annual gathering kicked off Tuesday at the Swiss ski resort of Davos, the highest town in Europe.”
And why is it held there? To save the climate! Just imagine how much less the private jets need to climb from such an exalted location!

Maybe they do have to stop.
To keep from dissolving the sea floor with the ocean acidification of the Industrial Economy.

That rise in charger pricing in Norway is simple economics. Patient capital loss leads on expensive charger rollout to market build until such time as there’s mature demand and then they have to get a normal return on their investment and welcome to the new pricing. As well they’ve no doubt picked the low hanging fruit with charger location. Now more backup and ever more remote chargers means even higher capital investment per charge station and predictably more price rises in future. Either remote chargers are priced higher or they have a one price fits all regime and socialising their costs and prices like they have.
Also note the inevitable TOU pricing as the suppliers don’t want slow charging or no charging owners tying up their capital and keeping supercharge battery owners waiting. The consequence of that is to encourage supercharge battery cars which impacts battery longevity but that’s the economics tradeoff to try and balance out enough costly chargers everywhere. The upshot of it all is what a maturing EV market will look like for anyone contemplating an EV and how it’s going to be even more costly than oil in future. Why Toyota are going hybrid in the interim to meet emissions controls cost effectively with a wait and see approach.
Charging times and inconvenience were always the fly in the ointment for EVs other than slow home charging. Even there the night time off peak rates will have to disappear with only wind solar and water generation. As if the purchase price of EVs wasn’t bad enough the cat’s out of the bag with their running costs too and look to Norway now for a glimpse of their Green future.
My thought on going zero emission is to tell St. Greta to f*ck off and show us how to do it then.
Just had my lunch ruined by some lunatic from XR on the radio supporting Greta and comparing Donald Trump to Pol Pot- without the slightest hint of a fact or explanation as to quite how we can survive without reliable energy if we were to go along with their insanity- the level of hysteria is of the scale now.
Andy Mansell
The massive amount of fossil fuel in telecommunications is mind blowing, the XR caller wouldn’t be able to do anything without fossil fuels, as even medicines are based around fossil fuels
Andy, turning it off (or down) is the best way to react. Even while listening to conservative radio on my computer, I have to turn down the volume on commercials to prevent the endless liberal-kook assault on my senses.
Greta, you’ve become very tiresome and repetitive, I’m no longer willing to be entertained by your gestures and rhetoric. At first I enjoyed your portrayal of Linda Blair’s role in “The Exorcist”; your facial expressions and voice were fantastic! But all the doom and gloom over and over took all the fun out of your routine. You made another attempt by trying to imitate Dora the Explorer but it fell flat. Hey, with your career in decline lookout for those agents they’ll drop you in a second. Climate change hawker, gee next time try for a part based on a true story………
President Trump at his very best :

He took on the doomsayers, and referred to the Renaissance, and the Florentine Duomo :
“In Italy, the citizens once started construction on what would be a 140-year project, the Duomo of Florence. An incredible, incredible place. While the technology did not yet exist to complete their design, city fathers forged ahead anyway, certain that they would figure it out someday. These citizens of Florence did not accept limits to their high aspirations and so the Great Dome was finally built.”
Meanwhile ex-Bank-of-England Governor, now UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance teamed up with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, to seal the fate of the “carbon” economy – a final solution. Swiss bank UBS chimed in “to do it faster”.
While most ogle poor Greta, these financial masters of Carnage are deadly serious.
At a Swiss ski resort. Why not live it up while discussing something that is not happening.?!
More importantly why are adults listening to a child soon to be adult with limited education and experience. Except she is a way of avoiding proof and to get interest.
This is similar to the congress having actress testify about farming because she played in a movie about farming.
I wish her verbal emissions would stop.
Speaking of the economics of electric vehicles, Observa, my understanding is that so far no manufacturer has sold a new electric vehicle for more money that it cost to make it. There is no electric vehicle business. It’s all just a very expensive vanity project.
The big, fat, honking lie we are currently being told is that Teslas are competitive with Cadillacs. No they’re not. Cadillacs are not being sold below cost. Also, Cadillacs can be driven anywhere without worries that they can’t be refuelled.
