Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg pressed world leaders to cut carbon emissions at the World Economic Forum on Tuesday in Davos, Switzerland.

Thunberg, Time’s 2019 Person of the Year, spoke during a panel discussion after President Donald Trump gave a 30-minute address at the forum.

“Let’s be clear. We don’t need a ‘low carbon economy.’ We don’t need to ‘lower emissions,’” Thunberg, 17, said, according to The New York Times.

“Our emissions have to stop if we are to have a chance to stay below the 1.5-degree target,” she added. (RELATED: Time Magazine Named Climate Activist Greta Thunberg Its ‘Person Of The Year,’ But What Is The Magazine’s Carbon Footprint?)

The annual gathering kicked off Tuesday at the Swiss ski resort of Davos, the highest town in Europe.

“One year ago I came to Davos and told you that our house is on fire,” Thunberg said.

“Our house is still on fire,” the Swedish climate activist added. “Your inaction is fueling the flames by the hour.”

So if we stop emissions we can stop the climate from changing?
Really?

I noticed in her “push back” she studiously avoided answering any of Trump’s observations.

From the AP article:
“There have been 44 weather and climate disasters in the United States that caused at least $1 billion in damage since 2017, killing 3,569 people, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.”

Really? But just what is a “climate disaster” anyway?

some people call them storms but the media just can’t help themselves. Its like kids trying to outdo each other. One up sensationalizing. Stormpocalypses and Snowmaggedons. They are like 3rd graders.

They can’t stop. It would be like telling someone with Parkinsons to be completely still. Not gonna happen.

According to the Eco-Nazis, it’s any kind of “bad weather,” which they like to pretend has never happened before, and wouldn’t happen any more, if only we would submit to economically ruinous “climate policies.”

Monday morninr, Zurich (LSZH) was not the place to be due to accommodation for all official traffic. It started already on Sunday and by Monday evening had drawn many drivers in deep depressive despair.

I’ve been told that only hybrid cabs were allowed to serve passengers.

Such s the reality when big save the world wheels burn kerosene for the purpose.

The solution is so bloody obvious it makes me weep.
Stop all fossil fuel use now. Immediately, at once. Yes you.

Result: No Davos, No Greta screaming at us.

Simples.

Ok, there might be a one or two side effects but the serenity!

First, they came for the emissions… There are diverse precedents that appeasement of their for-profit advocacy and activism only serves to progress their appetites. Their associated efforts to force the viability of planned populations schemes is the proverbial canary in the Green gauntlet.

Damned, I just exhaled. Greta won’t be happy. Why doesn’t she tell us straight that she expects humanity to disappear? Would be more honest if she came clean about it. There was a German who had a stab at it about 80 years ago. That was not the best chapter in the history of humans. Do we want a repeat? I don’t – but what about the rest of the world. Shall we ask them? Or is it sensible to assume that as long as there are humans, they will alter their environment? As they have to. primitive humans did not cross oceans in race boats and first Swedes most certainly did not eat bananas. So, what’s it going to be?

What’s Greta going to tell her children when they grow up in a Neo-Stone Age world strewn with billions of pieces of abandoned machinery, cities abandoned, roads, railroads and airports left to crumble, and remnant populations attempting to feed a declining population by working farm fields with wooden tools?

With emissions scaled back to “zero,” every steel device that you can picture — from hammers & nails to washing machines, to cars and backhoes — must be left to rust in place. You couldn’t drag the wreckage to smelters even with oxen. Oxen aren’t “zero emission.” You couldn’t run the smelters anyway; recycling would be an empty dream. No phones, no wires, no utilities, no refrigeration, no stoves nor modern buildings. Even tents and log cabins are not “zero emission.”

The poor girl is woefully ignorant, with no notion of metallurgy or the laws of thermodynamics, and she’s quite mad. The unscrupulous publicists putting her up to this, are goading other children and adults to go mad, too, lest they be accused of arguing with a child.

She reminds me of an emoji, particularly when she has her angry face on.

Interesting reaction to Trump’s speech, but the slavish devotion to The Cause continues to be displayed by the UK press. The ITV reporter tonight called the science behind the Climate Emergency “100% crystal clear.” They really do believe that, unfortunately; totalitarian ideologies like this enforce an agenda that makes it impossible for believers to act or even think in a different way. Look at the way a civilised German population responded to Naziism, the specific case of Adolf Eichmann showing how an otherwise apparently inoffensive normal person could behave. Hannah Arendt called it “The Banality of Evil.” OK Climate Change isn’t Naziism but the same psychological mechanisms apply. Jean Piaget’s theory of moral development identifies a stage we all reach following early childhood where our moral behaviour and judgement is derived from the ethos of our peer group; in a free society we can progress to a stage where we use independent principles as our reference, but this is deliberately impeded in totalitarian ideologies where free speech is prohibited.

CBC is always a source in order to know how the system and its elite think, act and react: introducing Greta 2.0, the Near Perfect One.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/indigenous/autumn-peltier-thunberg-davos-1.5435091
“Teen activist Autumn Peltier appears at World Economic Forum with criticism for federal politicians
Anishinaabe water activist on panel in Davos, Switzerland with Greta Thunberg”
An obviously carefully selected activist, from Canada the land of Trudeau in which CRA stopped investigation any political interference by US based green “charities” so his campaign could proceed unencumbered, comes the perfect new gem sitting near Thunberg, checking all the boxes of unassailable status.

The 15-year old, who hails from Wiikwemkoong First Nation on Manitoulin Island in northern Ontario, shared her dismay at their lack of attention toward the issue while on a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday.
Peltier has spent her last eight years putting pressure on politicians to take climate change more seriously, while advocating for clean drinking water in Indigenous communities and serving as the chief water commissioner for the Anishinabek Nation, a political advocacy group for 40 First Nations across Ontario.

Evidently at 7, she was even more precocious than Greta and is showing that Canadian grade 1 education in
Northern Ontario is world class… Unlike what other UN reports may say about how Canada treats its population.

Northern Ontario is world class

Have you been to a reserve in northern Ontario lately? Not the ones you can drive to but the fly-in reserves. Some are pretty grim places – what you would expect when you have 2,000 people living in a clearing in the forest with no economic activity to sustain the community, other than very sparse government handouts (which in some cases are mis-handled by a chief and council controlled by a “ruling” family). Where young people with ambition all leave, which makes the place that much more dismal for those who remain.

Reserves (in the US they are called reservations) in remote locations are a Canadian problem that will be solved (or probably not) in a typically Canadian half-hearted, bumbling way. Not by appeals to the “international community” who have all decided that the Athabasca oil sands are evil incarnate anyway. Nor by unelected UN bureaucrats telling us to stop building pipelines – immediately!

I am rather fed up with some of this baloney. This “girl of the year” wants emissions to stop. Okay, I’ll use reductio ad absurdum on this. For her “emission free” yacht, I hope no petroleum or derivative was used in the hull and rigging and the metallurgy for the fittings, including winches, pulleys, galley, ad nauseum. To be thorough, all living organisms must be destroyed, including microscopic ones. There still will emissions from volcanoes and hot springs, but the United Nations can pass an internationally binding law to forbid geologic emissions, which will make everything non-polluting. Unfortunately, there might be one politician or bureaucrat too stubborn to die and it will still emit hot air and hot carbon dioxide.

I think its quite revealing that her father said that prior to her climate evangelism she was quite depressed, so much so that she would not even talk. Then she embraced a noble cause which brought her out of depression and complacency and transformed her from woeful teen to true believer a la Eric Hoffer. She doesn’t like being ignored, yet she quite unrealistically expects the world to transform enough to meet her personal expectations because she says so. What else should the world do but ignore her? Her own attitude demands it. She’s a petulant child.

We have already established that Climate Change is a religious cult. There are many examples of children who preached religion, like Greta. Here is a well documented one:

“Hugh Marjoe Ross Gortner (born January 14, 1944) is a former evangelist preacher and actor. He first gained public attention during the late 1940s when his parents arranged for him to be ordained as a preacher at age four, due to his extraordinary speaking ability. He was the youngest known in that position. As a young man, he preached on the revival circuit and brought celebrity to the revival movement.

“He became a celebrity again during the 1970s when he starred in Marjoe (1972), a behind-the-scenes documentary about the lucrative business of Pentecostal preaching. It won the 1972 Academy Award for Best Documentary Film.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marjoe_Gortner

The Original Preacher knew all about this and told us about it 3,000 years ago:

Qohelet [Heb. Preacher, a/k/a Ecclesiastes] — Ch 1

9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is nothing new under the sun.

10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.

11 There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.

12 I, the Preacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem.

13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.

14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.

Go away little girl. Grow up. Study wisdom. Then come back and apologize to all of your elders who you have so rashly insulted.

Among all he justified criticisms of Greta Thunberg, it seems to have been missed that she actually got something very right. I suggest that rational people could usefully quote it at times:

Let’s be clear. We don’t need a low carbon economy. We don’t need to lower emissions.

I doubt that at here age she has any understanding of what she has got herself into. If she has already suffered from legit depression before her fame she has some very hard times coming down the track. I feel sorry for this young women.

No way would I ever wish her path on a daughter of mine regardless of how much money can be made. In fact, if I had the power I would forbid it.
