The trolling stunt was a street performance of a passage from Jonathan Swifts satire “A Modest Proposal“:

Mother Nature will only accept those who are totally committed to the cause as a sacrifice. If it happens to be an unhinged leftist feminist(virgin) wacko, so much the better. She could serve the cause well. It would also save her from having to eat the babies that slip by the abortionist.
It’s remarkable how gently AOC “corrected” this obviously disturbed woman’s view as to the excessively short time available to act. She gently corrected the time frame that was off by a couple of orders of magnitude at least. However the suggestion that we may have some time to act is typically met with venom and anger.
That was my reaction too.

Wow. I’ve expressed concern I have about what all this relentless hysteria created by evil opportunistic political and scientific puppetmasters and fed to our young people and vulnerable adults is going to create as this thing foments and collapses. I’ve often commented on the scourge of the “Climate Blues” that struck climate science researchers of apparent low mental stamina in face of the 18yrs of “The Pause”. This is different. This is is a couple of generations of the population of the West, not a mere few hundred scientists.
The rest of the world basically encourages this craziness in the hope of gleaning hundreds of billions of dollars from the game, but they have embarked on a frenzy of coal fired power to fuel their own economic development and future prosperity. This development will not be stoppable.
It is trivial to predict that nothing is going to stop CO2 from doubling and more before this century is out. I think this immutable fact is the best way to argue against suicidal destruction of the West’s economies. The scientific arguments of sceptics have been sucessfully encapsulated and neutralized by the ‘consensus’. That the rest of the world’s ’emissions’ totally make anything we do about our own pointless is something that can’t be hidden. For better or worse, we find ourselves locked into doing a definitive experiment on CO2 increase and Anthropo global warming or whatever we choose to call it. Frankly I’m looking forward to it. How the psychological health of millions holds up is another matter.

I agree. The world cannot/will not prevent CO2 from doubling. So it’s time for plan B: Mitigation for those who fear CO2; and relaxation for those who do not fear CO2.
There is no evidence that CO2 adds any net heat to the Earth’s atmosphere. The Climate Doomsters are basing their fears not on evidence but on pure speculation. They shouldn’t let speculation drive them crazy. They should relax like the sane people do.

AOC has already stated that she was just joking and that anyone who believed her was an idiot. Of course the reality is that climate change is taking place so slowly that it takes networks of very sophisticated sensors, decades to even detect it. If the media did not tell people that the climate was changing, they would never know about it.

If you mean ignored and suppressed, than okay, but the skeptical arguments have not been ‘neutralized’ in a scientific sense at all. The science has always been on the side of the skeptics. If an alarmist mistakenly wanders into a scientific discussion, his inevitable response will be a very unscientific: “Okay, but what if you are wrong? We can’t afford to take that risk!”
The alarmist learned very early own to never debate a climate crisis skeptic on the science. They learned to just call them names and worked to get them silenced, which has been an all-too effective strategy.

Hence, presenting the fact that we are going ahead with conducting the ever increasing CO2- in- the- atmosphere- experiment regardless of Western plans for decarbonizing which will not result in CO2 reduction. It will only ruin economies that participate.

As someone noted earlier, it was disturbing to watch AOC’s response to the “we must eat the babies” idea. Her only criticism wasn’t to denounce the concept, it was just the timescale being advanced that she challenged.
The world will thank the founding fathers for the second amendment.
Okay, first, let me apologize for getting serious for a moment. But I feel I must.
On the notion that this woman was merely performing agitprop for fun is a fantastic idea, one that I hope is true, and that we see lot’s more of wherever AOC, Bernie, Fauxcahontas and Joe Biden appear on the campaign trail. I meant, what could be more important to know about your presidential nominee than does he/she/ zhe/it have a sense of humor and good judgement?
That said, if the “eat babies” woman was a member of the Lyndon LaRouche cult, it would not do to prematurely dismiss this event as insincere comedy and brilliant satirical performance art. The LaRouchies are certifiable in many instances, and I think it highly possible that this woman needs both our pity and professional help, including some deprogramming style therapy, with the professional psychiatric help being the more important of the two.
I think AOC’s reaction to the batshit crazy lunatic from her audience was appropriate. You could see on her face that she was trying to be calm and not to make an uncomfortable situation into a worse one, which, if the woman is truly deranged, could easily happen if scorned or mocked by the crowd. In the absence of knowledge about the ostensibly crazy woman, prudence is a very good response. AOC has done some of her best work, not coincidentally, with her big mouth shut.
But now that phase of this episode is over. Now is the time for AOC to speak. She should speak to all possibilities of whether the event was a troll, a staged bit of satire, and also if the woman is actually that crazy. I’m sure AOC will not accede to ideas of eating babies, literally, but I think she owes the world (along with Chakrabarti and the Democratic Justice League or whatever they call themselves), an honest statement on whether misanthropy in general is a positive force in the environmental/Green New Deal movement. They all owe us their true opinions about depopulating the planet, as many serious minds in the leftist, Progressive movement have already made clear. Ted Turner, for example, has stated that the carrying capacity of the Earth is half a billion people. How does he propose we get to that number? The misanthropic son of a bitch refuses to elaborate. I’m not afraid Ted will start to murder people. As of yet, I have not heard him call for final solutions. But how does he think his goals will be achieved? Without explicit honesty from him, we should all reasonably fear allowing misanthropists like Ted Turner any more political influence than his wealth already affords him. The same goes for leftist politicians, many of whom seem to be running for the Democratic nomination.
So, Congressbaby AOC, the rather more photogenic pre-Greta phenom of the CAGW debate, the spotlight is on you. And by logical extension, it’s also on your fellow Democrats, many of whom are contending in the Democratic primary field. You all seem to support some level of green new wheeling and dealing. What about depopulating the Earth? Are you pro or are you con? If you’re pro, how do you want to go about it? What have you got for us? SPEAK, I COMMAND YOU!
And finally, what’s the likelihood that any frackin’ pro-Democrat CNN or NBC reporter / moderator will ask THIS question on a televised debate?

Pretty sure the woman was being satirical and taking AOCs positions to their logical endpoints, and doing so to mock her. That’s consonant with her own beliefs, saying, “ At one point I was concerned there was a woman in crisis & want to ensure we treat the situation compassionately. Let’s not mock or make a spectacle.”
She was a plant. Look at the faces of everyone else in the place. Not a shocked look among them. If AOC was trying to convey that Climate change has everyone scared, all she managed to do was make changers look like lunatics.

Everytime I see AOC, I too, am convinced she is crazy. Sadly that is no barrier to influencing others and making them crazy. Willing supporters always end up reflecting the characteristics of their leader.
