Emory University Creative Writing Prof: Hurricane Dorian Is ‘Man-Made’

By TOM CICCOTTA 5 Sep 2019

An Emory University professor of English and creative writing claimed today that humans are responsible for the recent tropical storms and hurricanes which have battered the Caribbean.

Appearing on the progressive news program “Democracy Now!,” Tiphanie Yanique said the storms hitting areas around her homeland of the Virgin Islands are “historic, unprecedented, and […] man-made.”
The professor added: “When I was growing up in the Caribbean, we would get really dangerous storms once a decade. And now we’re beginning to see them regularly.”

Yanique was joined by fellow guest Bahamian poet Christian Campbell (currently a visiting artist at the Art Institute of Chicago). Host Amy Goodman sought to blame President Trump and the region’s history of oppression for how these powerful storms are covered by the media.

[…]

Yanique argued that she was disappointed that none of the news coverage of the storm mentioned climate change. According to Yanique, Hurricane Dorian is the result of “carbon emissions” made by humans.

We note, of course, that anecdotal evidence from the professors youth goes unquestioned, but when a sceptic refers to their experiences they are shouted down.

“Hurricane Dorian is the result of “carbon emissions” made by humans”.

Sorry, every time I breathe out, I cause a hurricane.

You have to know about people like this, who are so stupid they don’t even know they’re alive.

It’s okay to point at them and giggle, but if you turn your head away they will do far more harm than good.

“When I was growing up in the Caribbean, we would get really dangerous storms once a decade. And now we’re beginning to see them regularly.”
I know what she means. When I was younger we used to see reports of UFOs every week, and now we’re starting to see them regularly. If this keeps up we will soon be seeing them routinely, or even – gasp, automatically. We’re really doomed if we start to see them habitually.

Why not say “It’s the sun, stupid ?” 😀

Maybe there is more than corellation between hurricane strength and sun storms (kp and A index)
Being an Analysis of Atmospheric Influences – During Hurricane Season 2017′

Perhaps the most significant aspect of late summer – early autumn 2017 was the severity of the hurricane season, especially in the Caribbean / Atlantic region. We may therefore seek to make an analysis of the atmospheric activity and solar influences to assess whether there has been any relevant interaction or correlation in that area of interest.

ref. 2019 Dorian

In a comment on this post, the “Atmosphere Guy” brought up an interesting idea. His thought was that increases in solar Kp (fluctuations in the solar magnetic field ) and the resulting flow of high energy particles can accelerate the development of jet-streams, hurricanes, and cyclones on the earth.

Can the Sun Produce More Powerful Storms on Earth?

Sounds very interesting.

I now know why today’s college educated people can not read, write or speak English. Watch any show on any network and you will hear bring being used when take is the proper word, PBS and NPR included. Worse, sentence structure is so bad that it is not understandable. My highschool English teacher would give them an “F.”

American schools have been actively turning out morons for decades now, why would anyone be surprised by this latest example?

Well who caused all those devastating hurricanes in the 18th century?

See the list : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Atlantic_hurricanes_in_the_18th_century

1780 is particularly notable – 28,000 deaths.

Sure on fusion.
All that is needed is that engineers recreate, on Earth, the Sun’s gravitational field strength.

bob hoye…. MIT has invented new super magnets which are key to keeping a stable reaction, and now more and more companies are joining the fusion race… It looks real promising, just the time scale is worrying… The science and mechanics have totally changed and things look good for fusion.

That is what they have been saying for my entire lifetime. 10-20 years away; for reals this time.

When the historical record disagrees with your childhood memories, go with the memories every time.

It’s quite possible that her home town was only hit once a decade or so. However she’s now comparing that to any storm, anywhere in the Caribbean.

Yes but I like the way she segued into blaming the fossil fuels and the climate changing Trump for all the poor victims as they’re panning down the streets of the Bahamas with all the drowned cars in the background. Perhaps she’s happy now they won’t run and neither will the lights turn on? Green nirvana no doubt.

Unfortunately, when anyone with some dose of skepticism, talks about any subject on climate, there is always anyone pointing out fragilities in curriculum or any other personal issue. In this case it is evident that the person is completely clueless about the subject that she is talking about but no one cares. Impressive!
Well, at least the so called Professor, as a creative writer, she might be expanding her activity as a creative climate thinker.

Well, we probably can say it is Mann-made, cause in reality Dorian was a weak category 2 hurricane, but NOAA made him to a category 5 monster. As far as I could see they inflated wind speed from 96 knots to 160knots, and the pressure from 955hPa to 910hPa.

When I was in the Philippines and Okinawa the weather never failed to disappoint with typhoons every year and the feeder bands always telling of the approaching storm. I don’t recall anyone calling it anything other than weather and normal. There are also earth tremors not caused by humans and spiders.

I heard them on NPR this morning prattling on about with the newly-minted claim about “climate change” being responsible for storms like Dorian basically stalling, and dumping prodigious amounts of rain as a result. Whenever a fresh, new lie about climate comes out, the climatards are all on that bandwagon like flies on you-know-what to disseminate it as the gospel.

That is the same throughout “news” and “science” media, almost as if they are interconnected through some sort of online messaging system or something.

First time on this site. I’m concerned that a post like this is “preaching to the choir”. These statements by the Professor and artist are clearly the ideological babbling of idiots. But I had to read down to find out what this site is about. I don’t see the use in letting the idiots speak without clearly refuting their hysterical claims. The data shows definitively that the frequency and intensity of these storms has decreased in recent history. A useful post would have given that data, and it’s source.

Brother? You need to check the sidebar, lots of information, maps, links to other web pages and to individual research, Solar images link, Arctic Ice data link, etc etc. And keep scrolling down, there is a LOT of it. 97% say it is too much information for one person to get through in one working day. Good luck and welcome.

If it was Climate Barbie’s claim, it would had been worded as ‘person-made’ rather than ‘man-made’. She is therefore an amateur progressive.

Maybe she’s experiencing withdrawal symptoms after losing all her cocaine?

I would challenge this clown to go and make her own man made hurricane in a lees populated area, and if she succeeds, I’d be happy to cut her a check for 1 million dollars.

“Emory University Creative Writing Prof: Hurricane Dorian Is ‘Man-Made’”

She could be on to something… did anyone else notice that Hurricane Dorian showed up just as a high-profile racing yacht was streaking across the Atlantic on its way to New York? We have correlation.

While I have no doubt that governments are experimenting with various weather control and instigation technologies (they’ve admitted it for decades) I think proof for such claims is on those saying it. Just saying this is “unprecedented” when the opposite is true is not proof.

For those who doubt the first statement check out what Ben Livingston (Navy Physicist) says. He was involved in cloud seeding programs that successfully slowed north Vietnamese and north Korean troop movements. He maintains that hurricane control was the top priority in the 60’s and that the technology was fully operational.

One should never take those type of statements at face value. If you want to scare your opposition you get some qualified people to make statements. It could be disinformation, it could be real. We have no way of knowing. A lot of people just accept it as fact. That is a mistake and obviously one Tiphanie Yanique has made.

Critical thinking is in short supply. Be open and suspicious to all possibilities!

Democracy Now! is a platform for crackpots hosted by a crackpot (Amy Goodman).

I occasionally watch it when I a laugh.
