Activists deliver petition with 200,000 signatures calling for climate debate to DNC

BY CHRIS MILLS RODRIGO – 06/12/19 01:31 PM EDT

A collection of activist groups delivered a petition with more than 200,000 signatures to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters Wednesday calling for a presidential debate focused on climate change.

Signatures were collected for the petition by an array of progressive groups, including Greenpeace, Sunrise Movement, Women’s March National and CREDO Action.

DNC chairman Tom Perez responded to the backlash on Saturday, calling a climate change debate “not practical” after a group of activists confronted him about the issue.

“It’s just not practical,” Perez told the activists after delivering remarks at the Florida Democratic Party’s Leadership Blue gala. “And as someone who worked for Barack Obama, the most remarkable thing about him was his tenacity to multitask, and a president must be able to multitask.”

Though I understand the DNC’s desire to avoid even more publicity for the green mania of some of their presidential candidates, I actually feel a little sympathy for the climate activists.

In my opinion climate activists have been ruthlessly lied to and abused. The DNC has treated them like trash, useful idiots, giving them hope with grandiose climate emergency declarations, then back peddling, downplaying climate issues, using dirty political tricks like banning a presidential candidate climate debate, to avoid alienating normal people.

The solution is obvious.

If Trump were intelligent – and to be honest he’s hardly been the brightest spark on climate – but if Trump were capable of understanding the climate scam – he’d do all he could to encourage the other side to commit themselves wholeheartedly to the most insane set of policies the world has seen since some mad man said: “Trust me – I know how to talk to the gods and stop bad weather we just have to build a megalith).

much easier to ‘debate’ health care for example because you can come up with actual cases

climate has the polar bears but a lot of folks already know that the polar bears are doing pretty well

Socialist propaganda , the fear factor for this so called climate emergency is very sad . The world has gone mad !! Australia’s contribution to the world’s pollution is 1.3 percent , yet , activists, the greens , and scientists claim , we have a decade to sort the Global Warming predictions or suffer dire consequences! Name one scientist in the past 50 years that has had a prediction come true ? Laughable!!

Well they tell us it is a “Climate Emergency” so it is only fair that they debate it.
Can’t wait for the costing of their “cure”.
Can mine come on a new unicorn?
The few adults left in the DemonRats Party are terrified of such a debate.
They can only obtain power through election by voters who bought their lies, with a full all out crazy, even more of the formerly deluded will run away from the Democrats and their plantation.
As noted in the post, if such a debate occurs the members of the Cult of Calamitous Climate run the risk of realizing just how brutally the Democrats are using them.
Funny how the CCC members still cling to their faith in the Democrats,8 years of their Climate Hero President and they got?

The left feel they have indoctrinated enough people with the climate propaganda that they want to have a “climate election” like we had recently in Australia. Amazingly, 48% of the voters fell for it. Luckily, the rest did not.
I attended a left of centre climate luv-in before the election. The Greens, Labor and “Independent” (backed by GetUp, despite claims to the contrary) Zali Steggall. They were all falling over each other to be greener than green. They all believed the “world will end in 12 years” rubbish. “Independent” Zali Steggall praised children truanting from school to go on protests! She also wanted to go further than 45% emissions reduction since the IPCC said this still only has a 50% chance of avoiding the 1.5 degree tipping point.

Did you ask her to quit exhaling that noxious C02 immediately? She and her fellow useful idiots are so thick they might have taken you up on that and the local morgue would have done more business. A win-win.

I suspect there will be a climate debate, maybe more than one. But it won’t happen until the DNC schools their tools on what stupid things not to say. AOC comes into mind.

Hey, actually discussing the science would be “anti-science”.

June 13, 2019 5:35 pm

Here is why the DNC doesn’t want to debate this issue. Even a 13-year-old can see through the nonsense if they are presented with the actual data. The biggest threat to this hoax is that people actually take the time to look at the data. These videos clearly demonstrate how easily this hoax is to expose.

Yeah – Soph is really something else. She is crazy smart. Even on livestream interviews she has a hell of a vocabulary. I hope more gen z people like her exist.

This is fun!

If the Dem base forces the DNC to hold the debate, all Dem candidates will have no choice but be Chicken Little on not-actually-happening global warming. If they didn’t squawk appropriately they’d have zero chance of winning the primary.

But if they go the full Chicken Little the punters will decide they are nuts with a capital N and vote for Trump.

An exquisite problem for the Dem party bosses.

All this talk about Democrats debating Democrats. Why is there no
Green Party in the USA, as three is in most Western countries.

If this was so then a debate between the Democrats and a Green Party
perron would make a lot more sense. After all thy have a potential
Presidential candidate in Al Gore. .He has been there, well almost.

The USA has a first-past-the-post electoral system, This makes it impossible for small parties to get representation; and as new parties start out small it is almost impossible for a new party to challenge the established ones.

“Green” parties only have representation in places with proportional representation.

Wish that were universally true, Bill. Here in the UK we have a FPTP system for MPs. We also have the insufferable Caroline Lucas, co-leader of the Green Party who has become the media’s goto politician on all matters environmental.

Her greenslime gets a disproportionate amount of airtime, but I think the majority of my compatriots (other than extinction whatever) use her tv appearances to pop out to the kitchen to make a cuppa.

There is a green party in the US. Jill Stein was their candidate in 2016. she got 1.06% of the popular vote and ZERO electoral votes. It’s a small minority party that has no shot at winning the presidency.

There is a Green Party in America, and just as in Europe it is filled with greentards spewing greentarded stupidity. I for one want them put front and center by media so everyone can see what idiots they actually are.

The main part of a climate debate between dems:

Wiki:
Bernie Sander
Born: September 8, 1941 [age 77 years]

Al Gore
Born: March 31, 1948 (age 71)

Joe Biden
Born: November 20, 1942 (age 76 years)

So we got former vice president who knows nothing about global warming.
And socialist senator of Vermont who likewise doesn’t even pretend to
know anything about global climate.

And then there is Al Gore who wrote book about global warming and claims he knows
of a lot about global warming. And who made tens of millions of dollars
talking about global warming.
Al Gore has probably made more money than any other person in the world
propagandizing about global warming.

He was VP and he was a Senator and younger than Bernie or Joe [though sort of looks
like train ran over him, but a diet and some exercise should improve how he looks and could
even go under the knife in order to save the world].
And 12, 11, 10 years we are all doomed without having some savior.

Exactly. All the climate debate between a bunch of candidate who all agree on climate will accomplish is to generate some really embarrassing sound bites that will haunt them in the general election. it’s a lose-lose as far as the DNC leadership would be concerned.

The problem as I see it is one of a lack of scientific attitude and literacy – a willingness to question what’s pumped out by the media and politicians.
I haven’t encountered a single climate zealot who argues their case with figures – I’ve crossed the proverbial swords with some in newspaper letters, and not one has riposted with any numerical or other evidence. They attack the source with ill-informed arrogance, even if it’s a reputable scientist or university, and completely ignore anything that contradicts their beliefs.
All this surely reflects very badly on the way that science is taught in schools.

What justification does the DNC offer to explain why they don’t even want to discuss what they CLAIM is the most important issue of the day?

And what explanation do most voters provide as the reason the DNC does not want the debate?
