Oh gosh, this is going to cause some heads to explode

People send me stuff….sometimes it’s hate mail, sometimes it’s requests for research, sometimes it’s silly science. I didn’t expect this one.

Today I got this notice in the email.

Name: Anuj Agarwal

Email: xxxxxxx

Message: Hi Watts Up With That Team,

My name is Anuj Agarwal. I’m Founder of Feedspot.

I would like to personally congratulate you as your blog Watts Up With That has been selected by our panelist as one of the Top 100 Weather Blogs on the web.

https://blog.feedspot.com/weather_blogs/

I personally give you a high-five and want to thank you for your contribution to this world. This is the most comprehensive list of Top 100 Weather Blogs on the internet and I’m honored to have you as part of this!

Also, you have the honor of displaying the badge on your blog.

Best,

Anuj

So I thought, no big deal. I’m already in their list of top 100 science blogs, at #42, as seen on our right sidebar.

Then I saw these new ranks:

Congratulations to Dr. Roy Spencer for being #2. I’m shocked really, especially with REDDIT as competition.

Some other notable ranks:

  • Met Service/Met Office 7 and 8 respectively
  • AGU Atmospheric sciences, 10
  • Cliff Mass #11 (he should be #4 IMHO)
  • BoM #12
  • NASA #14
  • Penn State #23
  • Judith Curry #28 (she should be #3 IMHO)
  • RealClimate #30
  • Royal Meteorological Society #34

Now, watch the screaming begin. I’m going to have a beer.

Ok…But WUWT is #1 Science Climate Blog on the Internet. Keep up it Team WUWT!!!

January 12, 2018 4:41 pm

Anthony, I’m just finishing my second beer of the evening in Dom Republic, and since a 3rd is out of the question, I’m giving myself a dispensation to retroactively dedicate them both to you! Hearty congratulations!

I wrote not long ago on a recent thread that I detected a gloomy resignation on the part of a down-in-the-dumps Team. They’ve been hit mercilessly with a flurry of punches. Trump cancelled global warming by withdrawing from the marxbrothers Parasite Manifesto, He opened up offshore oil and gas exploration around 5he US including California which should become a big oil state, Arctic ice off New Jersey, frozen sharks on Massachusetts beaches, snow in Louisiana and hypothermia in Green sea turtles in the gulf, snow for the second year on Sahara dunes, which they had to parry with how this was a global warming event to much laughter. I don’t think there is enough motivation and energy left for heads to explode. We are witnessing the final epidemic of the Climate Blues which sidelined so many careers permanently. Gavin is silent. Mann in desperation has teamed up with Gore to help the Climate Dreareality Project in its last incarnation as people are flocking away in droves from from his Inconvenient Spoof. Even Hollywood has moved on to #Me Too on a subject as old as Hollywood itself. No more back atchas tweeted by the State Penn sciency types. They are about to turn out the lights on this gross agenda. A Nobel Prize for you, Anthony, deserving as you are, isn’t in the cards. It isn’t worth it anyway since the committee was taken over by the marxbrothers.

Well put Gary! I think people have CO2 and air pollution mixed up. I am currently in Bangkok, and after touring down town for several hours in a Tuk-tuk, I am all for cleaning up air pollution. Batteries would work great here too for converting to some electrics, especial these trikes and tuks where there are millions and millions of them spewing out noxious fumes. Don’t worry about the CO2; worry about the CO Carbon Monoxide poisoning. That will kill you deader than a doorbell, or shorten your lifespan.

The majority of the people on the planet live between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. Clean air, clean water and a sensible environmental policy is not what we are fighting; it is outright Leftist Marxist control of energy policy and therefore our politics and democracy. And other necessities of life in the pursuit of happiness and freedom.

Don’t forget most taxi’s in Bangkok are now run on propane gas!! Tuk-Tuks are limited to the tourist areas only. Back in the 1980’s the city was full of them and motor cycles and it was much worse. In a city where most people earn 300 baht (U$ 9.00) a day their concerns are not about climate and pollution but about feeding themselves and paying for their children’s schooling.

15yrs ago i was in Benin West Africa on a project in the north. Returning to Cotonou, the capital, I always insisted we traveled to miss the rush hour. Old motorbikes and other vehicles running on high sulphur, cheap gasoline made a blue smoke layer visibility of about 30m or less. And they ask these countries to inventory the only product from it all that is harmless!

Not entirely true Pixie…but yes, they are working on it. I am here in Bangkok and all over Thailand this next few weeks and while they are trying to move taxi’s to propane in short order, it isn’t happening as fast as they would like. Out of the dozen taxi’s I took the last week, only two were propane. It will happen, and is worlds apart from Manila who is also trying, but the Philippines is light years behind Thailand in clean transportation. The tourist area is huge encompassing vast area’s of the city, and there are thousands and thousands of old Tuks roaring around. Plus every long boat has a 40 year old Diesel engine belching out black smoke. And that is all over every canal and the rivers covering all of Bangkok which is covering hundreds of square miles. Actually, I was expecting Bangkok to be unbearable, but they are making progress.

When I was in Cebu, Philippines last week, (2nd largest city) not one taxi was propane. Of course it isn’t the taxi’s anyway, it is the old diesel buses and Jeepney’s belching out black soot, smoke and particulates that hang in the air. And the tens of thousands of old motorbikes with no pollution control. Between the bikes and trikes, and buses and Jeepney’s, it is almost impossible to breath in the heat of the day. Just sickening, and I really felt like a heart attack coming on. I had to duck into A/C shops just to catch my breath. There is a lot of low hanging fruit to pick in doing the right thing, and these commercial transport options, especially the tuks, trikes, bikes and Jeepney’s could vastly improve air quality for tens of millions of people by utilizing the decades of research into better batteries and electric motors. Let’s not confuse clean air for hundreds of millions of people, for reducing CO2. This is about basic human health.

Don’t celebrate yet.

Last year our company lost its biggest customer, Microsoft. They negotiated a deal to select their power from the market, rather than getting it from us. The reason? They want 100% green, renewable energy. Even though we own the second largest wind generation capacity for utilities in the country. Because a third of our generation is from dirty evil coal, we are not good enough.

So for 2018 guess what one of our top goals is? Going green. Forget about the science. It is politics and economics. And when the politicians and the heads of large companies believe in climate change as a serious threat, what the activist scientists do means little.

Congrats on your #1 ranking. I was surprised to see the mail too. Never knew somebody actually does all this for weather blogs.

BTW I run a weather blog in India called keaweather.net

Off the beer for a number of reasons, but having a quiet chablis with pate to share the joy. No, the pate is on the bead, not in the chablis!

Anthony, if only they’d award you a Nobel Prize in the process you’d know they were legit, and you’d be in the company of real giants in the climate science realm, a la Mann and Schmidt. 🙂

Have to add that I’m glad I found this place. I admittedly check it way too many times/day for updates. Though put in perspective with the dozens of CAGW articles the likes of Huff Post, The Guardian and Business Insider put out daily, it doesn’t seem as obsessive.

Thanks for all you, Roy, Joe, Judith, Jo Nova, Tallbloke, Ball, etc.. do to educate the masses. It’s a refreshing change.

January 12, 2018 7:43 pm

Its a website where sanity reigns. Not is we can only infect all the useful idiots who are still promoting the scam. Thanks Anthony

January 12, 2018 7:49 pm

Scam notification or not, WUWT is the top interesting site on the Internet….so once again, congrats to Anthony and the Watts Up Team!

So the motivation for making you number one is because they believe that WUWT gets the most coverage. That sounds pretty good to me.

Well, that’s weather, not climate. It’s that most wonderful time of the year here in midwest when we are reminded by w@rmists that weather is not climate (also known as “winter”). So when can we expect long overdue accolades to our host for climate? From “climate scientists”? When climate change comes to hell, I suppose.

January 13, 2018 12:51 pm

OK we are not able to award Anthony a Nobel Prize by ourselves. Most of us can’t even pass him a beer.
But in a celebratory fashion, lets hit the donation button to help Anthony celebrate as he so much deserves. My donation is coming right up, again!

Dear Anthony,
I would like to suggest a new feature on WUWT where readers can order special bumper stickers like these..or make a donation and pick a sticker.

–NO AGW
–Question Climate Authority

etc etc.
