‘Scientists have to take to the streets’: Climate alarm goes past 11, now up to 12!

Professor John Joachim Schellnhuber, Climate Adviser to the Pope dials up the alarm, not to 11, but to TWELVE.

“Planet could warm by 12 degrees, I have all the evidence” “Scientists have to take to the streets to counter denial”

“If we want to hold the 1.5 degrees [Celsius; 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit]  line, which is the ambitious goal of the Paris agreement, we have maybe 300 billion tons left – more or less the budget of 10 years – if we do business as usual. If we want to hold the 2 degrees line, which is more realistic, we have another 20 to 30 years to go, but no more actually. So it’s a very tight budget.

It’s quite mind-boggling – for example, by 2030, we have to phase out the combustion engine. And we have to completely phase out the use of coal for producing power. By 2040 we will probably have to replace concrete and steel for construction by wood, clay and stone.

Hans_Joachim_Schellnhuber_mit_Globus-300x254[1]We are at the crossroads now: We either say: this thing is too big for us, this task cannot be done. [Then] we will be transformed by nature, because we will end up with a planet warming by 4, 5, 6 or even 12 degrees. It would be the end of the world as we know it, and I have all the evidence.”

Interview: Schellnhuber: ‘Scientists have to take to the streets’ to counter climate denial [h/t to Dennis Ambler]

Heck, why not just go to 15C or 20C, and really get people worried? I’m sure there’s a model for that.

There’s also a model for this particular kind of doomsday thinking.

In case you missed the pun about 12, see this.

“Scientists have to take to the streets to counter denial……”

Actually, they will be on April 22nd in Washington….
https://www.marchforscience.com/

Or at least they want us to believe they are scientists anyway. Leaves my wondering if Herr Shellnhuber will be adding to his carbon footprint by flying over here from Germany and joining the march next month.

Not that his hypocrisy would damage his credibility any…..

Email him at director@pik-potsdam.de. I just did asking for proof. If AGW is going to kill us all why can they not publish the proof. Not in climate models but in real time data reproducible data. I asked Nasa also but they do not have it.

NASA never had the proof but I did. Sold it on ebay to a guy named Schellnhuber for 12 EUR. Seems as if he mixed up price with warming 🙂

The correct science says CO2 has no significant effect on climate.

No need to add “correct”. That is the mark of politically driven drivel. Simply saying science is more than sufficient.

Well it would be sufficient if so many “scientists” in the “climate” field didn’t forget about that “observation” part of the “process.” Or that inconvenient “correlation does not equal causation” principle.

Too many ‘Climate Scientists’ apparently overlook that absorbed EMR is essentially all thermalized and that reverse-thermalization involves gas molecules with Maxwell-Boltzmann speed distribution. This favors emitting lower energy photons from water vapor molecules.

The result is none of the non-condensing (in the atmosphere) ghg have a significant effect on climate. More complete explanation is at http://globalclimatedrivers2.blogspot.com

Some also appear to not grasp that forcings (e.g. TSI) must be time-integrated to rationally compare to temperature change.

This is not about deindustrialization. This is about he world’s richest and most powerful families and organizations, the Captains and the Kings that claim no national loyalty, desperately trying to save their multi-billion $ investments to position themselves for what they hope will be the upcoming orgy of spending to save the world. They are setting the stage to have the world’s political leaders, many of whom they control, invest multi-trillions of taxpayer dollars to engage in unsustainable, unwise, and unworkable technologies. They will all profit off environmental policies that they advocate with very close friends in government, while amassing wealth in large part through government contracts.

The stakes are so high that hysteria must be invoked to counter the growing realization of people worldwide that there is no environmental apocalypse They are also using their domination of the international Financial Stability Board to coerce and harass companies and governments to do their bidding. Should they succeed, over the next 15 years an estimated $93 TRILLION will be needed for investments in low-carbon infrastructure. From public money. And they want it. See this story:

https://townhall.com/columnists/pauldriessen/2017/03/15/financial-stability-board-climate-deceit-n2299327

Deindustrialization would be the unintended consequence, but why should they care? They’ll own the world and have their safe spaces.

My my! The fractional portion of total atmospheric CO2 that is anthropogenic has somehow gotten stronger per molecule! Magic!

Maybe if scientists…I don’t know…tried to figure out how much additional energy it would take to change weather patterns sufficiently enough to create such additional warmth, they would be forced to look for something with enough energy to match the requirement.

“Evidence.” Evidence is something you can observe.

You cannot observe the future.

Sorry, but that is an inherent limit of science.

Schell visits WUWT from time to time and we are treated to a clinical seminar on unhinged anxiety. He has no #s1 to 10 in control on his emotions and he splatters down countless angry, snarky shrill insults and ripostes of much ado about nothing. I guess PIK has to endure him until retirement age. He’ll be adding more numbers on to the nob with time.

DW aka ‘Deutsche Welle’ is a propaganda broadcast:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Welle

“DW (TV) began as RIAS-TV, a television station launched by the West Berlin broadcaster RIAS (Radio in the American Sector / Rundfunk im Amerikanischen Sektor) in August 1988.”

From the start it was intended as ‘Feindsender’.

Deutsche Welle is the worst (leftist propaganda) broadcasting company in Germany, and that is no mean feat. They probably have hired too many stalwart East German propagandists after reunification. The present director is a former employee of Clinton-chum Chaim Saban.
Schellnhuber had his first nervous breakdown at around 18 (all these relativity- and cosmology-hypotheses were just too much for him). Somehow the well-regarded German universities managed to overlook him, so he became professor in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, smack in the middle of pig and chicken country. This rather young school is aptly named after a german communist.
There he coached Stefan Rahmsdorf towards a doctoral degree, who now serves as his obedient attack dog in their institute in the spiritual center of former East Germany (and of course at realclimate.org and other blogs). They get several millions from the tax-payer every year, but are not accountable to anyone.

The Institute was once the offices of the East German Stasi.

I have become bored with all of these hysterics. It seems the “left” blows their “right” dog whistle and we come running. Not just climate, but everything. When we do that, we are arguing on their terms and that means we lose.
Take climate. If we really wanted to eliminate most of our production the life giving trace gas CO2 we could make our electricity with Thorium. We could invest in “cold fusion”. Look at Brilliant light energy. All these things could cheaply provide us all the electricity we could ever use with no CO2. Instead, our great leaders DECLARE WAR on CO2 and send 1000’s of millions of dollars to their buddies to make giant fans and piles of glass that accomplish nothing. Maybe they really don’t want to win the WAR, just beat us over the head with it. I’m 55 and in spite of being at war poverty, climate, radical Islam and on and on -my entire life-, we’ve never won any of these wars. Accident?
We are being played. We need to change the argument.

Another of Schnellnhuber’s PIK colleagues is the dreaded Ottmar Edenhoffer who famously said “Climate policy has almost nothing to do anymore with environmental protection. The next world climate summit in Cancun is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world’s resources will be negotiated”.

Up until a few months ago, they must have thought they were making good progress towards a supranational world authority with power to distribute and redistribute the world’s resources. But now a great many spanners have been thrown into the works (which they pejoratively call ‘populism’, ‘nationalism’, ‘deplorables’ etc.)

With this sudden reversal of progress towards their dream of a pan-global nanny state, they are now *desperate* to ‘reverse the reversal’ and get the project back on track. Hence the *desperate* exaggerations.

I’m curious about seeing the first wooden wind turbines.

Where do they get the wood for it? One forest, too many consumers: biomass, heating, housing, wind turbines, streets, bridges, cars, furnitures … I doubt that all the Schellnhubers can calculate the number of planets needed to plant that forest. Oh … they calculate backwards. One earth, how many people can we allow?

This is the Flintstones revival!

In 1500, the Netherlands had about 1 M inhabitants and no tree was left. The wood for ships and windmills had to be imported from Norway. Now there are 17M inhabitants, prosperity is at least 10 times higher… and the country has many nice nature reserves with more trees then ever. The national power used is equivalent to 500 million horses which would require 220 times the landmass for their food. This to illustrate our future if returning to a bio-based society as the green parties promote.

Exactly that is the reason why all the Schellnhubers would say that there are 16 M too many inhabitants in the Netherlands. Cut their energy supply and the population will shrink automatically over time. They would never admit it officially but this is what they think.
