Leading French Presidential Candidate Emmanuel Macron has invited the entire US climate science community to relocate to France.

Climate scientists wary of Trump: Please come to France, says presidental hopeful

By Martin Enserink Feb. 10, 2017 , 8:15 AM

The mediagenic wunderkind of French presidential politics has a message for U.S. scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs working on climate change and worrying about their future under President Donald Trump: Come to France.

In a video posted to his Facebook and Twitter accounts late last night (and hashtagged #ScienceMarch), Emmanuel Macron renewed his commitment to fighting global warming and extended a warm welcome: “We want people working on climate change, energy, renewables, and new technologies. France is your nation.”

He may well get an opportunity to make good on his promise. Polls released this week suggest that Macron, the founder of a new center-left party who is campaigning on environmental protection, has soared past two more traditional candidates and is likely to face Marine Le Pen, the leader of the extreme-right National Front, in the 7 May runoffs. One poll says he’d defeat her with 63% of the votes.

For most scientists, moving to France is easier said than done, says Michael Halpern, deputy director of the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists in Washington, D.C. “It’s not as if you can just pick up a NASA climate satellite and just reassign it to France,” Halpern says. “But politicians the world over now recognize that science is a global endeavor, and seem increasingly eager to ensure that it is not disrupted by political interference. Gag orders and immigration bans do make it more challenging for scientists to do their work.”

Lets hope US climate scientists take up Macron’s offer.

I’ve got to say there are worse places to live. French food is fantastic, the women are beautiful. In many rural regions, such as the lovely Lespignan, the delicious local wine is served using petrol bowsers attached to 10,000 litre tanks – you either bring your own plastic container, or they supply one. France also has its own space programme, no doubt they could help climate scientists with any additional satellites they require.

Of course, if climate skeptic Presidential candidate Marine Le Penn wins the election, the offer might be withdrawn. So best be quick.

In France “the women are beautiful”?? How can you tell what’s behind the veil? BTW as long as France is taking in refugees, can they take in the entire State of California?

I am not sure that Marine Le Pen is a climate sceptic. I think I saw that she proposed a zero carbon future. Not sure.

Adding a large load of rent-seeking, unproductive and deluded U.S. CAGW Climate ‘scientists’ to the continuing influx of would-be Jihadist Muslim Immigrants to France should just about ensure that the French economy finally slips below the waves Trump could offer the ‘Climate Scientists’ free one-way tickets, to speed things up.

The poor oppressed scientists clutching the railing of a ship, looking out to sea, far across to the beacon of light and hope, France. The joyful crowds of French welcoming the intrepid warriors of climate change. Escaping the intrusive American government wanting to know about their emails and adjusted data. How can scientists work under such conditions ?! ! ! Wait! Are those signs say Yankees go home? Americans that bought French freedom with their blood, brought them a better life, and money. The French hate that. Let’s bring in millions of intolerant, potential jhidists that have no concept of democracy or individual rights.
I think it’s time for them to get a check up, there is a screw loose somewhere.

On the other hand it may be better to keep them in the USA for when the judicial system catches up with them .

Great idea!!! Also, while they are in France, they can explain to all the Muslim “refugees” how they need to worry about Climate Change and give up their Jihadi ways for a better cause.

I don’t understand why climate scientists aren’t relocated to the Arctic and Antarctic where they can monitor the problem from the front lines. Who is confining them to air-conditioned offices in California? It’s a modern tragedy. Free the climate scientists!

Please don’t make us resort to Disneyland to portray reality!!

What a mess. A forced refugee crisis and a pretense to refuge. The so-called climate “scientists” should reevaluate their positions and beliefs.

If a climate scientist moves from the US to France does it make a sound. Not really. Climate science as it has developed is not a boon to the host country. In fact it is an easy argument to make that the ascendance of climate science has come at the cost of better established sciences in the US.
Climate scientists as opposed to meteorologists, physicists, and other disciplines have contributed very little of value to science or the world. Early adoption of alarmist political positions on climate change have essentially screwed the science pooch. That despite warnings from some of the most accomplished scientists on the planet.
If you climb into bed with political radicals you wake up with their fleas.

France can afford to play holier-than-thou on climate issues since it generates close to 80% of its electricity from nuclear plants. I wonder how gung-ho it would be if had to depend on fossil fuels to provide the power? And incidentally, haven’t French cities been plagued by smog from particulates emitted by diesel engines that were supposed to perform a major role in combating climate change?

Come on guys, please let us dump some of our climate loonies from Oz too!
It is a collective insanity. I now read tgat we are changing the climate 170x as fast as any natural process, cos it’s only ever changed by 0.1C per century before, and loonies want to spend several hundred billion (with a b) of our $’s on lunatic pumps in the arctic to make more ice (and prevent natural cooling, but they refuse to accept that).
We need a loony bin for these people, and France is good a place as any 🙂

Mass evacuations taking place below the Oroville dam in California. Appears that they were able to increase outflow over the damaged concrete spillway to relieve errosion pressure on the earthen emergency spillway. Hopefully the dam will hold as inflows to the reservoir abate.
Another several day spell of expected rain and snow is heading toward that watershed now. It will be a race to get the water level down before inflows increaseb again. Looks like the state has also stepped in to manage the situation.

Trump just needs to change the funding so that natural climate change is considered important too. The alarmism would disappear like snow in thaw as the need for it (continued funding) disappeared. Far less divisive!

Marine le Pen is no longer a climate sceptic. She’s gone all wishy-washy, hoping to make herself more “mainstream”, and now says that humans contribute to climate change. http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/759437/Marine-Le-Pen-believes-climate-change-unlike-Donald-Trump

France is definitely a good-looking country, but Greenland is probably the place to go. While the rest of the world warms to Armageddon, Greenland will have a balmy climate, great for agriculture and with plenty of room for the estates to which these benefactors of humanity are undoubtedly entitled.
Living inland (away from the rising seas) and close to the ‘permanent’ ice sheets (that are about to drain away), these climate scientists could live happily in their own virtue-signalling Utopia. Best of all, they will have the last laugh.

I think Transnistria is a better place for them. The only university will welcome then, but subsidies and grants are a little bit of a problem.

Griff, it was actually Newsweek that kindly chronicled the freeze up. Nice deflection, but unlike you, many here lived through the period and heard the hype. With the new electronic technology and communications of today, the 1975 “threat” would have been much bigger than it was. Actually the NYT’s hype on cooling was earlier in the 1950s and before that they had disastrous warming in… you guessed it… the 1930s where every State in the Union’s highest temperatures and longest droughts records still reside to this day. There has been the usual mass history rewrite because of this embarrassing end of world climate change from the past. But this is nothing new. How about: http://www.mrc.org/special-reports/fire-and-ice-0 from media watch. Scroll down to the imminent Ice Age they were worried about in 1895 (NYT) and up until 1920.
The NYT fake 1975 cover may well be misdirection by CAGW tricksters. The person who first mistakenly said Time Mag instead of Newsweek presented the opportunity to to do this.

Hey all you refugee Climate Scientists, save your time, money and political inclinations and move to Canada. They’re just as liberal as the French plus a lot of them speak English. If you were looking forward to living the French lifestyle you can move to Quebec and become un Quebecois and put all those French courses to good use. It’s a quick trip back to visit friends so they’ll barely notice you’re gone. Bon Voyage!

Asylum is nothing. Emmanuel Macron will have to offer competitive salaries and pay for supercomputer time to let newcomers play their old game. However, he will have to specify exactly how he is going to collect the money to do that. If raising taxes is an attractive option for the French electorate, then that’s the way to go. If not, I have no idea, but Emmanuel Macron should surely know.
Another issue how he is planning to convince the French asylum authority OFPRA to consider the US to be an “unsafe” country, a legal prerequisite under French law to granting the right of asylum to an individual of that origin.
