You’ve heard of the Holocene, and the Anthropocene…
The ‘Anthropocene‘ is a term widely used since its coining by Paul Crutzen and Eugene Stoermer in 2000 to denote the present time interval, in which many geologically significant conditions and processes are profoundly altered by human activities.
Well, hold onto your hats, er data.. Josh writes: Thanks to Robert B who thought up a great name for the era of climate science we are currently enduring…

– The Adjustocene, where no one will ever know what the temperature is.

Bruce Cobb…just perfect! Great cartoon Josh
Josh, here’s a suggestion I made in a stale thread that you may have missed:
Draw a revised NOAA logo with a wind turbine along with the bird (reduced in size).
And here’s Roger’s suggestion (I liked it!): http://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/01/28/300-scientists-tell-chairman-of-the-house-science-committee-we-want-noaa-adhere-to-law-of-the-data-quality-act/#comment-2132119
Nice idea 😉
well played
Bird caught in a wind turbine? LOL
I don’t see why we need to change Holocene. Given the people (such as Gore, Obama, Mann, etc.) involved in pushing the non-happening climate change couldn’t we just modify the term and call it the A..Holecene?
Or the Hollowcene.
Is AndyG55 suggesting it could/should be the
Andy A55holocene?
Allencic – plus spudloads.
Auto
obamacene – noted for a thick stratum of bovine exudate (future coal).
Loved it. A question: Are there any restrictions on using the cartoons? I’d like to use it on one or more postings but don’t want to get in trouble…..
Ian M
Mr. McQueen:
So many great questions go unresponded to here on WUWT, that this commenter, FWIW, wants to urge you to go for it!
Just:
1. Boldly acknowledge Josh as the author (preferably with a link to: http://www.cartoonsbyjosh.com/)
and
2. Don’t make any money off it (unless you share at least half with Josh).
Janice
Janice, thank you, spot on!
Ian, you can read about cartoon usage here http://www.cartoonsbyjosh.com/blurb.html and many thanks for asking. Any further questions please email me.
I wonder if this was inspired in part by Mark Steyn’s comment in Cruz’s Senate hearing (to paraphrase): How can we be sure what the temperature will be in 2100 when we can’t predict what it was in 1950? [with the continuing adjustments]. It should have been a quote of the week.
Good point, Gary.
Bob Tisdale’s Climate Models Fail also soundly substantiates and amplifies that accurate observation by Steyn:
Climate Models Fail at 12, 13.

Gary. Did you SEE my heartfelt comment of thanks to you (re: beauty of older women in older men’s eyes) about a month ago? I can post it again, but, I’d rather not! (kind of embarrassing, though I was so glad to tell you)
early Eocene– Hyracotherium, a 0.4 meter horse
late Eocene– Mesohippus 0.6 m horse
middle Miocene– Merychippus, a 1.0 meter horse
Pliocene—– Pliohippus, a 1,25 meter horse
Pleistocene—- Equus, the modern horse
Adjustocene— a big pile of excrement from all of above.
Another?
:large
SMODocene…
“As POTUS I will fix your weather related problems thru a process I like to call Everybody Dies In A Fiery Apocalypse “
Sweet Meteor of Death.

No matter how you slice it, it is a bad -cene, Mann.
Bolognocene?
Because no matter how thinly you slice it, it’s still Bologna.
People are dumber now, so maybe we should just start calling it baloney.
To Adjustocene or to CargoCultocene? That is interesting to address.
Actually they are the same.
Josh, thanks for addressing the absurd.
John
Just a terrific turn of phrase!
Nailed it!
And send that cartoon to every Congress critter with the message, “Your tax dollars at work.”
One of your best, Josh. I remember seeing Robert B’s comment and thinking then that “Adjustocene” should not be lost. It’s just perfect. So, thank you both, Josh and Robert, that cartoon is going on my wall. 😀
…made up of multiple periods of the ‘hottestyearevercene’…
Lol. Yup.
Again.
Shopper (thinking): Oh, good! They’re going out of business again. Lol. Well, it works for me. (humming happily, heads inside to buy some more stuff…)
Notice the signs do not say which store is closing.
Throw in a start date and sell me the Teeshirt.
“Plasticine” – the epoch when everything can be adjusted.
Two German Scientists Say GISS Has “Squandered Much Credibility” …Playing A “Shady Role”

More like the Adjustoscene by the Meddlescene with the Plasticene.
The Adjustocene has been brought to us by favour of a new high tech device the ‘Adjustascope’ TM
With this sophisticated device anyone can conflate, combine and homogenise big data to conform to programmed reality. Wind powered so it may ‘neverfail’ TM.
No one should be without one. Get one for the Kiddies now to keep ahead of the post science knowledge revolution. Innovate or go under.
Apply for a grant now, save the planet!
And dedicated Cluedo fans can already rule out the Conservatory, Library and the Observatory but the Reverend Green with the hockey stick are already no-brainers.
I might’ve had it read: You Just Know What
What Temperature You Want
Another wonderful visual commentary by Josh. I continue to be amazed how Josh can combine a telling comment with good humour and charity towards the target of his comment. It can only come from an honest, good heart. We are very fortunate to have Josh with us.
+1
V kind & much appreciated 😉
The Modelscene – where you just won’t know what reality is.
I hesitated to post that comment – low hanging fruit.
Well, we sure are glad you did! Congratulations on being an inspiration, Robert B.!
#(:))
Low hanging fruit is good – great comment!
Great cartoon. But “won’t”, surely? Apostrophe needed. Sorry Josh.
… only in the ‘pedantocene’.
With apologies to David Reuben, someone should write a book titled:
“Everything you wanted to know about the adjustocene but were afraid to ask”
