Andrew Tyndall, news consultant: If you don’t tie every event to climate change when reporting the weather, its like pornography
Andrew Tyndall, described as a news consultant, has accused Ginger Zee, a qualified meteorologist and popular TV weather presenter, of producing “weather porn”.
According to Tyndall;
“If Ginger Zee reported in the role of climatologist rather than meteorologist, I would praise ABC’s ‘World News Tonight’s’ decision as a daring intervention into a crucial national and global debate,” he said. “Instead, she is more like a pornographer.”

Ginger Zee’s sin, in the eyes of Andrew Tyndall, appears to be that she gives more airtime to reporting weather events, than to preaching climate fear to her TV audience.

However, Patrick Burkey, Nightly News executive producer, spoke up in defence of the way weather is reported on TV.
“Weather coverage can drive ratings,” Burkey said, but “you have to be careful that you’re not covering weather stories that aren’t real news every night. It’s an easy way to lose the trust of the audience about what is really an important weather story.”
Who knows – when climate alarmists find something interesting to say, rather than rehashing the same tired fear mongering nonsense every time they speak, their views might get a little more airtime.

I know that the Guardian is famous for making spelling mistakes, but really…
Did the (sic) tag get missed off? 😉
It could have been worse… 🙂
Personally, I enjoy the Mexican weather reports the most. Who cares if I don’t live there?
Anyway, I meant to add a bit more about the use of the word “porn” to mean anything which is hyped and exaggerated, either to bump up ratings or to push an ideology. It’s a double-edged sword, and actually becomes somewhat meaningless after a while. It is not unlike abuse of the N*zi word, really. I have been uncomfortable with the phrase “climate porn”, though I have used it myself in the past, and it seems it is a phrase that probably should be retired for use as an epithet, along with other words with sexual connotations like “pimp” or “prostitute”. They don’t really add anything to the conversation.
He seems to think that all meteorologist who don’t follow in the footsteps of The Storm Channel aren’t qualified to report on the weather.
Whatever next? Perhaps she should should give an Etruscan interpretation every time there is a thunderstorm.
Nice to see that her boss backed her up by acknowledging that spewing alarmism causes a loss in trust. It has probably been three years since I have watched any network evening or morning news because the bs spewed by NBCs Brian Williams caused me to loose any trust in any news story on television.
“… the bs spewed by NBCs Brian Williams caused me to loose any trust in any news story on television”
The Brian Williams did you a big favor by teaching you that the mainstream media is the propaganda arm of the state. Just like Pravda in the old USSR, you can not trust anything in the mainstream media at face value. The mainstream media has value only by reading between the lines.
They lost a lot of credibility with their BS Global Warming Hysteria “Special” a few years ago, when they forecast the dismal “future” of a fictitious American boy whose family had to abandon the flooding city of Miami. It went downhill into the Fifth Ring of alarmist Hell, from there.
It seems someone high up in the MSM does care about losing trust in the audience. He should be held up as a role model for the industry in that regard. He should work on the lost of trust created by purposely biased scientists in support of structurally flawed IPCC assessment processes created to exclaim significant climate change whether it exists or not.
Happy Holiday Season to all.
John
If you are defending meteorologists as professionals, why is there a crazy-eyed picture of Ms. Zee in this article? Seems disrespectful and contrary to the point you are trying to make.
The picture is from Ginger Zee’s Wikipedia entry – so its probably a safe bet that she likes that picture.
Maybe its too late, maybe my browser but, at the top of this thread I’m getting a picture of a wild haired, wild eyed woman seemingly wearing no clothes next to word ‘porn’
It has got to be the most unflattering snapshot/thumbnail of an otherwise good looking girl that there ever was.
Just a few words to that Tyndall (he’s nearly as creepy as Lewsandoxny)- “FFS man, get a life!”
It is getting a heck of a lot warmer, so you talk about other stuff, and think no one will notice.
Quantify “a heck of a lot”.
‘Weather Porn’

Behind the “Green” Door.
It looks like a photo selected by the same criteria media select presidential photos. If they’re on the same team, you capture a moment of thoughtful reflection. If they’re on the other team, you capture them about to sneeze, cough, yawn or expose their fifty year old bottom while hugging Bill Clinton in a bathing suit.
The picture is from Ginger Zee’s Wikipedia entry. I think someone as high profile as Ginger, its a safe bet that if she didn’t like that picture, Wikipedia would have replaced it with something else.
Unless someone who dislikes her keeps reposting that one. Assuming she Wikis herself, that is.
Andrew Tyndall would be more happy with a weather report like this, I guess?
First time I’ve seen that one, funny 🙂
Reminds me a little of Monster in law.
Don’t worry, folks.
She’s now one of Al Roker’s co-host on TWC.
Have a look here as well:

Just the consensus, ma’am. That sounds vaguely familiar.
Ginger Zee has a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology while Andrew Tyndall has what science credentials? He should be asking her what her opinion is not dictating to her what her opinion should be.
The author writes: “Ginger Zee’s sin, in the eyes of Andrew Tyndall, appears to be that she gives more airtime to reporting weather events, than to preaching climate fear to her TV audience.”
That should read, “Ginger Zee’s sin, in the eyes of Andrew Tyndall, appears to be that she gives more airtime to reporting weather events, than to preaching climate fear to her TV audience–while being a cute girl.”
Since she’s committed the cardinal sin of being smart and cute, he has to take her down a notch by dragging sex into it. Classic.
Those who can, do.
Those who can’t, teach.
Those who can’t do or teach, consult.
Ginger Renee Zuidgeest (b 1981) has a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Valparaiso University, where she is an adjunct professor.
I did hard time in TV. Can’t tell you how hard it is to be taken seriously as a woman. Didn’t bother me much and the female thing made it easier to get a job, but harder to to get the top job at a station. Thank God I left TV before Google and photoshop fakes and the total destruction of ratings and total loss of privacy. When I started in the late 80s, almost no women had met degrees. That has changed somewhat although it’s still a nerd-guy major.
It’s an example of that old saying: “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act”. I suppose those who take umbrage at that are like the storm troopers of the Empire, etc.
Would those be the “only Imperial Troopers are this precise” Storm Troopers, or the “can’t hit the wall of a barn from inside” Storm Troopers?
I would be classified as a sexist and/or a racist, if I chose Ms. Zee over Willard Scott or Al Roker….. and a misogynist if I don’t.
Truth.
THAT is the measure and duplicitous hypocrisy of the modern liberal sophist.
I would watch every night without fail were she to report the weather while topless.
It took you 6 days to make that contribution ?
That should be day 1 stuff, get with the program !!
