Eric Worrall writes: The imminent climate summit in New York is rapidly turning into an utter embarrassment for President Obama and UN Secretary General Bank Ki-Moon, in addition to becoming a bit of a punishment round for national deputy leaders.
Aussie PM Tony Abbott today defended his decision not to hop on an earlier flight to America, so he could attend the UN climate conference in New York, because he has more important matters to attend to, such as running the country.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have also indicated they likely won’t attend the summit.
http://thediplomat.com/2014/09/top-leaders-from-china-india-to-skip-un-climate-change-summit/
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has indicated he will not be attending. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/canada-politics/stephen-harper-to-skip-un-climate-summit-183946998.html
Even Angela Merkel, President of über green Germany, will not be attending the UN climate summit. http://notrickszone.com/2014/05/26/merkel-snubs-new-york-ban-ki-moon-climate-conference-burying-the-global-climate-agreement/
Of course, things would probably have been totally different, if the summit organisers had guaranteed that attendees would definitely not have to sit through any more boring climate presentations by former Vice President Al Gore.
Perhaps these leaders have realized that the planet has not warmed for 17 years and the computer climate models were flawed. Good for them. Perhaps the community organizer will come around some day. Or not.
Spelling mistake – should read “Obama’s Looney Climate Summit”
Here’s a list of 31,000+ US scientists who have signed a petition declaring that man-made global warming is a complete and utter hoax.
http://www.petitionproject.org/index.php
I can see why Obaloney wants to attend a conference like this – why not dance in the land of make-believe, to lend the appearance you actually care about something as opposed to face the hard issues of the day.
Angela is busy assuring Germany won’t freeze by building more coal and lignite power plants, while their PV and windmill energy program crashes and burns.
in 2000, 47% of American voters voted for a guy who claimed he invented the internet, and who also said we’d all be knee-deep in ice water today.
In 2008 53% of American voters voted for a guy who claimed that all wars would end, the deficit would be cut in half, and you could keep your health plan (period) and transparent, post-partisan government had arrived.
In 2012 despite all those whoppers being disproved, he was re-elected.
So why in the world does anyone espousing (the mythological) AGW feel they need to offer proof?
Or they don’t want to be spied on by a liar.
Maybe there will be an early snow storm that cancels the summit.
It’s hardly surprising that world leaders are giving Obama’s conference a swerve.
It must be deeply embarrassing for them to see Obama use the White House twitter account to vacuously repeat the 97% mantra, and declare CO2 an enemy of the state.
How long before he announces his battle with an axis of evil?
al gore flunked out of college 2 or 3 times. he got d’s and f’s in science. this is their high priest of global warming, who declared the debate over before it even began. he is a charlatan and a snake oil salesman. a hundred and fifty years ago, he’d be run out of town on a rail, after having been tarred and feathered.
I don’t know about Merkel. Germany is a paradox, taking its nuclear plants offline and reverting to coal–lignite in some cases–while still in theory committed to reductions in carbon emissions. In the meantime it’s apparent that the country is shipping jobs abroad as a consequence of weaknesses of the green economy. Merkel’s probably hoping not to be associated with any more “man-caused disasters”.
The climate is changing. Climate has never been static. The question is if humans are significant drivers of climate change. There is no evidence to show that humans influence climate change. Giving Al Gore or any of the other liberal dufuses billions of dollars won’t benefit anyone besides the liberal dufuses. Even if humans were causing climate to change, giving billions to corrupt Democrats won’t fix anything. You really think Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, even with trillions of dollars at their disposal, would be able to make the climate better, whatever that means? I say tax the hell out of Obama voters and let Barney Frank and Al Gore spend it on the Climate. What a joke.
“The question is if humans are significant drivers of climate change.”
No Sir, the question is if additional CO2 is catastrophic for the world. The observations strongly say no, it is beneficial.
The sun is by far the most influential climate driver. Next is water vapor. Air is also a significant contributor. This Axis of Evil must be destroyed, to save the planet. We must reduce the pollutants we know as air and water by at least 70%. The sun must also be stopped. Help save the earth. Eliminate sunlight, water, and air. These climate pollutants must be dealt with. The moon has a stable climate. Let’s follow the example of the moon.
My, oh my! How times change.
As well as the prime minister at the time Kevin Rudd attending the 11 day Copenhagen bun feast in December 2009 to solve “the greatest moral challenge of our time”, amongst the 114 strong Australian contingent there was Kevin Rudd’s official photographer, the South Australian Premier Mike Rann, an “ambassador for climate change”, a “special envoy for climate change”, a “transport liaison officer”, an “accommodation liaison officer” and a “passport/baggage liaison officer”.
Mr Rudd explained that the scores of other staffers were needed in Denmark because the summit will produce a “highly complex text” which will demand intensive scrutiny.
The carbon footprint for the 114 personnel traveling business class to Denmark and back was estimated to equal 1817 tonnes of emissions, equivalent to the annual output of 2500 people in Malawi – one of the countries supposedly to be at greatest risk from global warming.

In New York on Sept 23 this year with millions of more tonnes of CO2 having flowed over the bridge into the atmosphere, Australia will be represented at the one day conference by the lovely foreign minister Julie Bishop.
Rumour has it however that she is somewhat of a Leonardo de Caprio fan who I believe will be attending and I was wondering if she has visions of standing in front of the UN flagpole with Leonardo in a Kate Winslet type pose during the lunch break?.
But seriously, I do have a word of encouragement for organisers of the summit – if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere.
Maybe they fear coming face to…er…whatever with something like this

CAUTION!! If the MOTUS has taught us anything in the last six years it is that there are things that once seen can never be unseen.
I think that Tony Abbott has more serious things on his mind right now. Gud on yeah Tony.
Obama organised an orgy but nobody came
Would have been a problem in Obama’s uni days when his nickname was reputed to have been “bathhouse Barry” -he would not have been paid. It would be all fine and dandy if nobody turned up. Apathy can work both ways. For the Left, apathy to them means running out of diapers to soil while chucking kiddie tantrums. Boo-hoo.
This makes me sad. Upon leaving religion, my eyes opened to the problem of global warming. sigh. http://www.tealtomato.com
I would love to be Australia’s representative at the “bummit.” I would absolutely love to be able to make a speech to say what a load of excrement the whole catastrophic anthropogenic global warming/ climate change/ extreme weather/ sustainable development or whatever the buzzword of the day is. Realistically, a skeptic Prime Minister should attend and speak out on the fraud. Obama would probably wet his nappy over it.

Obama organised an orgy but nobody came
That would be a Tantric orgy.
Thoughtless me, we do have an elected MP in Australia who is eminently qualified to attend the climate wankfest. Dennis Jensen(WA) has real scientific credentials – probably knows more than all the UN BS artists put together. The one IPCC lead author we met face to face recently eventually turned his back on me-thoroughly beaten by a “rank amateur”- could not and would not answer questions. Pity we did not get this on tape. Perhaps Lord Monckton can repeat his famous chutzpah or come up with another tactic. We will have to make him an honorary Jew for his magnificent stunt in Durban.
There is no need for Harper, or anyone to address “AGW” because without the “C” in front of it, then it is net beneficial. So Peter, is the “C” there or not.
China is doing this to push domestic production. Modern scrubbers do an excellent job of reducing particulates.
Indonesia produces more “dirty” coal then Australia.
From your article…”Australian coal has got a lot higher energy values, which means you need to burn less tonnes of it and it produces less emissions…”
They are perhaps all at home panicking as to what to do with their own energy policies now they are committed to the ridiculous carbon reduction policies required by 2050!

Don’t look now, but all those missing leaders fell off the edge of the Earth.

Carbon Disclosure launches carbon emissions report ahead of UN summit
Carbon Disclosure today launched its first report on global carbon pricing.
The report, that gathered environmental information from companies worldwide on behalf of investors, found that 150 companies incorporate an internal carbon price, including banking group Goldman Sachs and oil firm ExxonMobil. The prices range from $46-$80 per tonne.
