UPDATE: Showbuzz weighs in with an actual ratings number for “Years of Living Dangerously” and it’s mind blowingly low. Even this blog reached more people on Sunday. See below.
Showtime’s “Years of Living Dangerously” aired Sun, Apr 20, at 10:00 PM and didn’t even make the top 100 cable TV shows this week and was beaten in its time slot by a re-run episode of the animated cartoon Bob’s Burgers. Ouch!

According to the producer, this docudrama got the “big budget” treatment to the tune of $20 million. Looks like nobody cares.
Here are the top 50 from Sunday, with link to the full top 100:

Maybe it was the “journalists”. Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, Jessica Alba, Ian Somerhalder, Thomas Friedman, and many more celebrities and journalists participated in the documentary event series. For example, even Ahnold didn’t help:

On Season 1, Episode 2: Harrison Ford investigates the global effects of the palm oil industry and corruption in Indonesia, and Arnold Schwarzenegger joins an elite team of wild-land firefighters as they battle a new breed of forest fires.
Yeah, sure, I want to see that: Indiana Jones and The Temple of Rubes
Pretty sad that reruns of “Bob’s Burgers” on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim can beat it. It just goes to show that doom and gloom does not sell.
UPDATE: Showbuzz weighs in with an actual ratings number for “Years of Living Dangerously” and it’s mind blowingly low:
.04 !!! According to last week’s report, the premiere of YEARS OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY, had a microscopic 0.07.
To help make sense of just how low that rating of 0.04 is, here is some background.
The most commonly cited Nielsen results are reported in two measurements: ratings points and share, usually reported as: “ratings points/share”. As of August 27, 2012, there are an estimated 114.2 million television households in the United States, a drop of nearly 500,000 from the previous year. A single national ratings point represents one percent of the total number, or 1,142,000 households for the 2012–13 season.[2] Nielsen re-estimates the number of TV-equipped households each August for the upcoming television season.
So let’s just use that number for 2012-2013 of 1,142,000 TV households (representing a single ratings point) and multiply by 0.04. We get: 45,680 households viewing “Years of Living Dangerously”.
Wow. On Sunday, typically one of our slowest days, WUWT had 80,468 views. See the screencap from WUWT’s WordPress Dashboard:

One of the top rated shows, besides the NBA playoffs and Game of Thrones was Naked and Afraid, maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger should try this show again, only this time naked, that should increase ratings.

Naw, that only works on the maid.
“Harrison Ford investigates the global effects of the palm oil industry and corruption in Indonesia,”
The most ironic part is it is the CAGW crew that created the palm oil industry in Indonesia with the whole bio-fuel push. Maybe showcasing that is not the best approch for the CAGW cause?

Hopefully the wealth has been transferred to those that can use it more wisely.
SO MANY GREAT COMMENTS (“Bore the trees to death” Jim S. — lol}, SO LITTLE TIME!:
“I’ve never actually encountered a CAGW movement supporter who actually seemed personally scared of the climate predictions, like personally moving away from the coast specifically because of believed future sea level rise or moving further north for that reason. … .” Henry Clark (12:28pm)
Yup. AGW was D.O.A. — and was ALWAYS and will always be:
“… full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
Enter a Messenger… ” — who says….
“CO2 UP. WARMING STOPPED.”

And Louis agrees with Henry (at 12:50pm): “For control freaks, life isn’t worth living unless they can tell others what to do.” {emphasis mine}
Precisely.

And now… the AGWers have BOUGHT THE FARM! ha, ha, ha, haaa

Clear Sky (12:39pm): … the TV Rating Statistical Model calculated that this was the highest rated show.
lol
J.M.: And the IPCC’s models forecast that it would be a super hot show. LOL. A graph of “Actual versus Simulated Data,” here, would look remarkably familiar, heh.

For those that didn’t watch the show, it featured Anthony Watts with a horse and lance charging Arnold Schwarzenegger. Just before the lance reaches him, Arnold throws a knife into the horse’s eye. The horse goes down and Arnold dispatches Anthony with a scythe-like weapon, to the cheers of the climate alarmists.
I didn’t watch it, and I’m not going to waste an hour of my life doing so, but I find that hard to believe. That would be very nearly text book incitement to violence.
Jeff in Calgary – there were a few mentions of palm oil in Climategate 2.
They can take comfort in that The Wizard of Cause …er… COz ranked in the top 100.
OOPS! That was “The Wizard of Oz“. My bad. I thought maybe Hansen’s muppets were in that also.
No comfort after all.
HAhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha(gasp) AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahahahahahahahah! Thank you for the Monday Happy Moment. I shall smile all day.
O.T…CLiven Bundy and supporters are true patriots…Harry reid is benedict arnold
Btw..tortoise main diet is cow dung. No cows no tortoisel
If the producers of this show want to punch up the numbers, they should lead off the next episode with an airing of the 10:10 video. That will throw some ‘red meat’ to the base and really help “the cause.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-Mw5_EBk0g
“Years of Living Dangerously” will start for Mann when Appropriate UVA emails are released.
John
“Years of Living Dangerously” will start for Hansen and Schmidt when new NASA GISS Director declares that the work process and product under Hansen will be investigated for compliance the CFR.

“Years of Living Dangerously” will start for Lewandowsky and Cook when ‘Moon Hoax’ is also retracted.

Hypocrisy even at this magnitude is unlikely to be dangerous, but they’d better see a shrink.
“Years of Living Dangerously” will start for Oreskes when Havard University endowment contributors point out to the Trustees that no evil climate doubt merchants exist outside of her feverish exaggerations.

@davidmhoffer Rabbit’s comments were just a little play on the recent goings on in game of thrones. Which contained a scene similar to that which is described. Even though i am up to date with all the books Martin has published for that show I still find myself a slave to it. And I’m not ashamed. Science fantasy is exactly where a geek like me ought to be pigeon-holed 😉
Long story short? He was creating a little parody for comedic effect.
TOTAL DIVAS. Isn’t that the show with Michael Mann and Gavin Schmidt?
If Harrison Ford is investigating palm oil then he has too much time on his hands.
It is definitely worse than we thought! Not even the great Arnie, single handedly fighting Indonesian Busfires could save it!

Heh, tx. I read books (including those) but I rarely watch the shows. I am invariably disappointed. In the case of Dune, I was outraged. Barely ever watch movies, tv, etc since then.

“What the heck is a new breed of forest fire?”
If forest fires are getting worse it’s partly due to bad policy with regard to fighting them. They don’t allow natural fires to run their course, which results in overgrowth and the massive build-up of underbrush. That’s a lot of extra fuel. They have also cut back on controlled burns for clearing brush, don’t put in fire breaks where there should be fire breaks, and human infrastructure continues to expand into fire-prone areas. These factors have nothing whatsoever to do with “global warming” or “climate change”, yet that’s what fires are blamed on because it bolsters the narrative. All this has been covered on here before.
Well, unless it goes by an abbreviation I don’t recognize, NO Showtime show made it to the top 100.
So it could still be the #1 show in Sho’s Sunday lineup.
Of course, that’s like saying Rachel Maddow is the #1 show on MessNBC.
Kind of like the prettiest girl at the ugly dance but only different.
Odd.
And here I was thinking that you DID want to refer to the “Wizard of COz”
No particular reason, just becoz it sounded right.
Actually this is bad news. The spread of palm-oil cultivation in Indonesia is extremely destructive to wildlife, particularly orangutans, and is heavily tied up with political corruption. I have seen the effects in the few years I have been going there. Tying up serious science with AGW alarmism simply turns people off to both of them.
