Al Gore's Climate Reality Project is set to do another 24 hours of alternate reality – nobody cares

This year, October 22/23, they are bringing in a comedian (no relation):

Carbon pollution is not only disrupting our lives, it’s hitting our wallets. Comedian and musician Reggie Watts shows how, laying out the billion-dollar connection between fossil-fuel energy and dirty weather events like Superstorm Sandy caused by carbon pollution.

I guess he didn’t read the recent IPCC AR5 report that showed no connections of climate change/global warming with severe weather. In a year when we’ve had the least  number of wildfires in 30 years and well below the decadal average, plus a near record low in tornadoes, and a hurricane season that has gone bust, Gore is pushing a dead issue. See why on the WUWT Extreme Weather page

So as this screencap from his latest propaganda video shows, setting fire to orchids seems to be the way Gore is fawning for attention getting the message across that it is hot in the summer and wildfires happen. He’s got nothing else.

Gore_flaming_orchids

Its the same old tired stuff from Gore, who can’t even bring himself to correct blatant errors and outright lying I discovered in his “high school science experiment” from two years ago. So, I’ve decided not to bother with the event this year, seeing how WUWT is beating the pants off of Gore’s Climate Reality project by the numbers:

WUWT-vs-all-climate
Note the difference between traffic at WUWT (top line) and the climaterealityproject.org (bottom line)

Gore is still stuck on stupid,  his star is fading, and he clearly isn’t worth the effort. He’s already beaten, nobody  but a few zealots care anymore.

I’ll focus WUWT-TV on the science at the AGU meeting this year. I’m happy to report that I’ve been given a press pass.

Below, you can watch the latest video from Gore and laugh, after all he’s reduced himself to hiring a comedian to push his issue.

UPDATE: In comments, “Mark and Two cats” sums the whole thing up pretty well:

…dirty weather events…

————————————-

Children just aren’t going to know what clean weather is.

UPDATE2: for reference from the IPCC AR5 WGI Chapter 2 on extremes.

  • “Overall, the most robust global changes in climate extremes are seen in measures of daily temperature, including to some extent, heat waves. Precipitation extremes also appear to be increasing, but there is large spatial variability”
  • “There is limited evidence of changes in extremes associated with other climate variables since the mid-20th century”
  • “Current datasets indicate no significant observed trends in global tropical cyclone frequency over the past century … No robust trends in annual numbers of tropical storms, hurricanes and major hurricanes counts have been identified over the past 100 years in the North Atlantic basin”
  • “In summary, there continues to be a lack of evidence and thus low confidence regarding the sign of trend in the magnitude and/or frequency of floods on a global scale”
  • “In summary, there is low confidence in observed trends in small-scale severe weather phenomena such as hail and thunderstorms because of historical data inhomogeneities and inadequacies in monitoring systems”
  • “In summary, the current assessment concludes that there is not enough evidence at present to suggest more than low confidence in a global-scale observed trend in drought or dryness (lack of rainfall) since the middle of the 20th century due to lack of direct observations, geographical inconsistencies in the trends, and dependencies of inferred trends on the index choice. Based on updated studies, AR4 conclusions regarding global increasing trends in drought since the 1970s were probably overstated. However, it is likely that the frequency and intensity of drought has increased in the Mediterranean and West Africa and decreased in central North America and north-west Australia since 1950”
  • “In summary, confidence in large scale changes in the intensity of extreme extratropical cyclones since 1900 is low”

. . . In a year when we’ve had the least number of wildfires in 30 years and well below the decadal average, plus a near record low in tornadoes, and a hurricane season that has gone bust, Gore is pushing a dead issue.

Unfortunately, it’s not a dead issue so long as the media and the establishment politicians unanimously persist in parroting the Algore line. The number of people who read WUWT is large, but tiny compared to the those who watch TV.

I keep tellin’ ya, he’s off his frickin’ rocker. Certifiably nutso, a congenital whackjob. What makes him perennially dangerous still, is he still has his cash. Sycophants will kissy-kissy with anybody with enough money (and apparently that bar is pretty low), and he keeps hanging on to a stable of noisy court jesters. The downside to capitalism is that there is a sucker born every minute, and capitalism rewards shrewd rather than smart.

Very generous of you to mention his site. I suspect that most of the traffic he gets will be from here…

Not to go off on a tangent, kadaka, but it’s just another sign of the times we’re in.

“connection between fossil-fuel energy and dirty weather events like Superstorm Sandy caused by carbon pollution.”
There is so much stupid in that one sentance fragment I think Anothony is making the right choice and just ignoring this ignorant clown.

“…setting fire to orchids

They’re not real orchids. He’s burning fake ones, likely made from paper and plastic.
If you look at the edges of the flames you can see where stems and flowers are melting down and probably starting to drip.
Worse than photoshopped, just plain false.
Orchid taxonomy; there are roughly 20,000 species which classifies them as some of the most diverse group of related plant life on earth. Orchids are found on every continent but Antarctica. They survive across altitudes and all climatic zones. Which is one of the reasons so many people grow tropical, temperate, arid, wet and cold conditions in their houses.

Despite ample warning, I watched the video and learned about the evils of big oil and big coal out to destroy us all. What a joke. If Gore needs more propaganda to keep his scam going, he really needs to do much better than this.

Al Gore: “Big oil is evil, evil I tell you. Now if you excuse me, I have to go cash this really large check from Big Oil funded Al Jazerra.”

Thanks to WUWT, am very early in my education on all of the in depth climate research being conducted around the world. Don’t laugh, but one year ago had I read the word “carbon” and the scary phrase “dirty weather” in one paragraph, would have thought we were at risk for increasing amounts of ground pencil lead (like from a pencil sharpener) falling on us.
Seriously, my suggestion would be to avoid the shortened “carbon” term, and use carbon dioxide every single time if that is what the writer means. Unless, of course, we truly are at risk for increased gritty, dirty weather.

“Al Gore knows that Big Oil and Big Coal will not be the ones paying his carbon taxes. They will simply pass the taxes on to the consumer.”
Not when those corporations are nationalized. Always look over the next rise to see the whole battlefield.

Nationalized corporations are a) non-stop subsidy sucks, and b) unable to sustain supply and production because of lack of — wait for it — PROFIT. Enter shortages, rationing, and muscular black markets.

Re the video – I didn’t watch it. I didn’t want to add to his viewing numbers and get old Al all excited. He might think people are paying attention to his message again.

Everytime he shows up, so does cold. Will be in DC on Oct 24… U.S. should be 8-10 below normal plains east with core of 16 below normal midwest

I suppose everyone noticed that the video’s comments are disabled, as are the thumbs up/down votes. Shirley (tnx Brian H) any degree of confidence in the message would require they open comments to record all the praise that’s bound to follow. Right?

So, Al is anti-big oil and anti-big coal and yet much of his family wealth was derived from oil and coal (Oxy).

October 17, 2013 10:15 pm

And exactly WHERE is Gore going to show his forthcoming 24-hour Snore-a-Thon? He sold his “progressive” CURRENT TV network to the Royal Family of Qatr for big $$$, and it’s now Al Jazeera USA. Are the A-rabs going to run this for him?

In the past world Gore, because of his tight ties and investments in oil companies would be arrested and charged with manipulation of the markets. Too bad the S.E.C. has so little power anymore except against the common jerk posting comments about penny stocks that no one believes in the first place. But here you have a man doing it for millions, repeatedly, and he skates.

This is so futile and pathetic. Even his greenie supporters have turned on him. I’m actually beginning to feel sorry for Gore now.
