Friday Funny – Josh of the month club

Yes, you too can be a member of the “Josh of the month club”.

You may have read at the Bishop Hill blog that Josh made a 2013 Calendar that was offered there. That got a lot of interest, but problem was it was only available in the UK. Now that problem is solved with Josh authorizing me to produce a USA edition.

I just got the first sample back from the printer and it looks fabulous. The cover:

Here’s what the inside page looks like:

And it has some special days marked on the calendar too.

Each calendar is $19.99 plus $5 shipping (plus $1.25 packaging -total $6.25) plus tax for your state (sorry, can’t escape that one) and will be shipped direct to you. Josh and I split the profit.

  • Printed on durable, matte cardstock
  • Hanger hole punched at the top
  • Measures 8½” x 11″ closed, 17″ x 11″ open
  • Delivery by US Mail (delivered in 5-10 business days)

ORDERING: You can place calendar orders here

===========================================================

Also, there are still a couple dozen of the limited edition annular solar eclipse prints left from the summer should you want them.

To order the print,  go here and then choose quantity.

Something funny that happened on Friday:
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/valerie-jarrett-climate-activist-speech-grassroots-organizers_664311.html

“White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett was heckled during a speech on Friday by an activist demanding that President Barack Obama do more to address climate change,” reports the Huffington Post.
“Jarrett was about two-thirds of the way into her speech at RootsCamp, a conference for grassroots organizers being held in Washington, D.C., when Brad Johnson, campaign manager of Forecast the Facts and former editor of ThinkProgress Green, stood up and interrupted her.”

Such a noted “climate activist” as Brad Johnson of Forecast the Facts doesn’t have White House access, and has to pounce on staff to beg his message is heard.
Question: Is he really that pathetic, or was it a staged event to prove Obama still cares about climate change and is willing to listen?

“You anti-tax folks really need to think about consequences. If you starve the states of revenue, you’re GUARANTEEING that the Feds will take over even more functions from the states.”
The states aren’t the ones initiating the fight to tax sales from the internet. It is the owners of companies who have physical store locations. They feel that they are losing customers as more and more people find shopping on the internet saves them money by not having to pay sales tax. Keep in mind that the SELLER is responsible for paying the sales tax, and only through tradition are they able to get away with passing that tax along to the buyer. It is amazing to me that sellers can pass onto the buyer a tax that the seller is required to pay and then be allowed to keep a percentage of the tax due as payment for collecting it from the buyer. (For big retailers this can be quite a large amount of money.)

I attempted to buy a calendar, but PayPal wouldn’t take my credit card. Following is what I sent them as query/bitch about their operation.
“There is no way I would EVER recommend PayPal to ANYONE, including my worst enemy !
I attempted to use my US Bank Mastercard to purchase a 2013 calendar from the WUWT site. I do not have a PayPal account, and so used the “guest” payment option. At the end, you rejected my credit card (no reason, just “cannot be used.”) This is the second time in 3 months PayPal has rejected the card (previously with PalmDr.com). This card is fully functional in ANY store that accepts Mastercard and on other online sites (most recently 20 Nov 2012 with Victor Machinery Exchange, Brooklyn, NY.). This smacks of a scheme to force EVERYONE to open a PayPal account or not do business with vendors. I wonder of your vendors understand they are loosing customers ? A copy of this is being sent to the vendor I attempted to buy from.”
