The Gender-Neutral Kitten Salvation Happiness Fund
Brytni Ambyr is out to save the gender-neutral kittens of the world from abuse by global warming through Happy Thoughts.
Hi! :^) Brytni Ambyr* is an attractive blonde female out to save the gender-neutral kittens of the world from abuse by global warming through Happy Thoughts. Have you ever thought about what it would like to be forced to wear little fur coats through an endless summer? That’s like so cruel! :^(
Brytni will use your generous contributions to create lots of Happy Thoughts! She wishes she could save every little sweet creature. But she will do what she can to be Happy! and use your donations to be Happy! and save the ones she can. Aside from Happy Thoughts!, she will also do her part by adopting a gender-neutral kitten (or even a gendered kitti, and spaying/neutering it), and treating it sooo nice. She’ll give it love, treats, and a nice air-conditioned place to live. This will make Brytni AND the kitten Happy!! Double-plus-good Happy Thoughts! Enough Happy Thoughts and Happy Cats may even hold off the global warming!
Make the kittens Happy!
Make Brytni Happy!
Gaia will love you for it. http://www.indiegogo.com/genderneutralkittenfund
Goddess Bless. :^)

If I’d thought of it at the time, I would have mentioned that saving the kittens and preventing global warming will stop the alien invasion:

I thought this was pretty damn funny ( and was intended to be ) Followed up to find out who Carl “Bear” Bussjaeger was before I’d noticed he had replied in the comments. Hi Carl, welcome. I’m sure you are enjoying the traffic 🙂
For all those shouting ‘con’, it’s satire. I didn’t have to finish reading the pitch to see that but then I’m a Brit, satire and sarcasm isn’t just comedy for us, it’s a way of life. I’ve seen from my visits to America that it often slips under the radar of many Americans if done a little too sincerely.
My concern when at the site was that it is a little sincere and that there might be some poor, misguided half-wit tree-hugger out there who would consider this genuine and actually donate some cash yet I was reminded of the saying ” a fool and his money…” and thought: “sod it, I hoe carl gets some beer money from the deluded.”
Thanks for the laugh.

I thought of that, but then I realized that anyone contributing would fall into one of two classes: 1) terminally stupid, who probably won’t be able to click the right links to donate anyway, and 2) those who just got a good laugh out of it. But just in case, the pitch does say that Brytni isn’t real and that kittens don’t cause of stop global warming; if the clue-challenged can’t grab that one, so be it. I could use some b/e/e/r/ scotch money. Not to mention the replacement kitten.
And thanks for the welcome to WUWT (I think Ric mentioned that, too), but I’ve actually been a regular reader and semi-regular commenter here for years.
I have obtained covert video of the perpetrator of happy thoughts !
It appears she has enslaved the kitties and is making them produce power through her home made generator. ; -)
Brytni just booked her seat on the B Ark.
As of this post, Brytni and Bear have raised a total of $0.00 so far.
I think they should be compensated just for the humor and creativity !!
Somebody will chip in. (YOU can be first !)
Good work guys, that was funny !
Yes, “Bear” Bussjaeger, welcome to WUWT. Great spoof of some of the campaigns on the indiegogo site. Although they do seem to have done some serious fund raising. You will probably actually get some donations.
For those who didn’t check out the referenced site and gone on the find out about indiegogo, the following quotes are from wikipedia:
“Indiegogo is an international crowd funding site founded by Danae Ringelmann, Slava Rubin, and Eric Schell in 2008. Its headquarters are in San Francisco, California. As of 2012, it has hosted over 100,000 funding campaigns in areas such as music, charity, small business and film”
And
“In an interview with Film Threat, Rubin said the site is “all about allowing anybody to raise money for any idea.”[10] The site’s structure allows users to create a page for their funding campaign, set up an account with PayPal, make a list of “perks” for different levels of donation, then create a social media-based publicity effort. Users publicize the projects themselves through Facebook, Twitter and similar platforms.”
Good Luck “Bear.” Hope you get enough to get yourself a new kitten.

I thought your name looked a little familiar, but couldn’t remember if it was here or in some other corner of NH. I didn’t recall welcoming you to WUWT before, and figured I could handle the embarrassment if I already had. Not that I have any authority to welcome people here….
I am a bit embarrassed to have missed Brytni’s link to WUWT. That would have led me to look into your posts. Won’t be long before everyone who’s someone has left a comment at WUWT. 🙂

Nay, nay, no. Never are you an EX-SF. Always, the Farce you will be.
“Feel the Science Farce, Bear. Do not think, but feel it surround you in its 97% cushion of consensus and conformity and funding. Once you are known “to the Farce” you will be always “of the Farce…….”

The video was a hoot! Well done. Nearly had a coffee through the nose moment when I spotted the asterisk comment “non statistical estimate based on unhappy thoughts”.

Dang! You would have had me there with alien kittens: first cousins, don’tcha know. Them’s the little varmints that came back and tole me all ’bout how Earth Girls Are Easy.
I’da coughed up a good two bits – or mebbe a hairball – fer the cause.
What? Not real? I just donated 5 million dollars from the liberal party of Canada – this news will just devastate them they are leaderless – still.
After watching the video, I knew it had to be farce. Then I went to the website and saw that it was possible to donate money! And I thought: Brilliant! Finally a way for a skeptic to make money: Pretend to be your average warmist and just ask for money to ‘save the planet’! (No more waiting for that check from Big Oil.)
Again…Brilliant!!!
old engineer (October 5, 2012 at 4:45 pm): “Yes, “Bear” Bussjaeger, welcome to WUWT. Great spoof of some of the campaigns on the indiegogo site. Although they do seem to have done some serious fund raising. You will probably actually get some donations.”
Danke. I had fun with it. Although when Joel Simon (http://joelsgulch.com/) realizes that his cats and dog are featured in the video I may (hopefully) live to regret it. [grin] The toughest part was opening the necessary accounts and uploading the files on freaking dial-up.
I’m actually in favor of voluntary crowdsource fundraising, and Indiegogo (and Kickstarter, etc) do some real good. So this is less of a spoof on the process itself as it is on some of the less discerning people donating. Three campaigns in particular inspired me to go for it: the bus monitor who raised over $700,000 for a vacation after getting sassed by teens, a singer who convinced folks to pay for a European vacation so she could “record” a new (apparently studio) album, and the wikigun guys who claimed they’d design a 3D printed handgun and spec’d an ABSplus thermoplastic printer that literally could not do what they claimed they’d do with it (and they’re having a few legal problems since).
Ric Werme (October 5, 2012 at 4:54 pm): It could have been here, my old Blogger blog, or NH politics.

Glad you saw that. I thought it was a nice touch, but my sense of humor is… odd.
Anthony: Thanks for the FF link!
Well done to Brytni and Bear.
That video is an amazing piss-take.
I loved it.
DaveE.
Although it is very funny I think it best if we save our money and “leave Brytni alone”.
Minnesotans for Global Warming might do a new song for this.
***note NYT bookends this piece with it’s hot in texas spiel!
5 Oct: NYT: Timothy Williams: It’s Snowing in Minnesota! Yes, October Is Early for That
***Early Friday morning, the temperature in Houston was gradually cooling from a high of 88 degrees, part of a Texas summer that just will not quit. Meanwhile, more than 1,000 miles to the north in Minnesota, a different kind of cooling was taking place: More than a foot of snow was coming down…
In Middle River, Minn., eight inches fell.
But the heaviest snowfall was in Roseau, Minn., 10 miles from the Canadian border, where 14 inches of wet, heavy snow fell, snapping tree limbs and causing power failures in the town of 2,500, which bills itself as the birthplace of snowmobiling.
“We’ve gotten snow this early, but not like this,” said Greg Sorensen, a dispatcher at the Roseau County Sheriff’s Department…
Patrick Slattery, a spokesman for the National Weather Service, said that given the abrupt temperature shift — autumn crispness to freezing cold — even more snow than the accumulated amount may have fallen, but the rest had quickly evaporated…
National Weather Service meteorologists say snowfall will be above normal this winter in an arc of the country stretching from Minnesota to New York.
Mr. Slattery said that heavy snow was anticipated for Wyoming and parts of Nebraska later Friday, and that it would continue Saturday into northeastern Colorado and northwest Kansas.
“It would seem to indicate that winter has started,” he said.
***Just not in Texas, where the high on Saturday is expected to hit 85 degrees in Houston, and 92 in Corpus Christi.

Jim Clarke (October 5, 2012 at 6:16 pm): “(No more waiting for that check from Big Oil.)”
I assure you, I’m still waiting for my Big Oil check.
pat (October 5, 2012 at 6:45 pm): “Minnesotans for Global Warming might do a new song for this.”
That would be excellent! IMHO, it would be perfectly acceptable “fair use” for satire purposes if they used as much (or all) of the video as they wish, if they do one.
Of course you know that global warming has been blamed for the excessive amount of cats in Germany as well as the acute shortage of Bulgarian prostitutes.
Ha ha love it!
But, it is a bit of a worry to see that about 20% of our commentators here are so dour and focused on ‘their mission’ that they couldn’t recognize a spoof if it hit them in the face with a custard pie!
I can’t believe some commentators don’t see this for the piss-take it is. LMAO!!
Steve in SC (October 5, 2012 at 7:22 pm): “Of course you know that global warming has been blamed for the excessive amount of cats in Germany…”
The excess of cats was linked, as it happens. [grin]
“… as well as the acute shortage of Bulgarian prostitutes.”
