Not quite Friday Funny

Over at Skeptical Science, SkS founder John  Cook has gone on the full defensive because of the linking of conspiracy “moon landing was faked” author Stephan Lewandowsky to Mr. Cook (and his website) and of offhand comments about his website and the people that run it. It’s a hilarious read, as if they are surprised by the negative reactions due to the transparent and clumsy attempts to paint climate skeptics as conspiracy theorists. Of course, being blind as bats to their own issues, they have their own private conspiracy theory forum where they plot to “rip my throat out”  as part of the ‘…we need a conspiracy to save humanity’ theme. They feel they are being treated unfairly. Priceless.

The funniest part is that Cook ends with this: “We intend to remain focused on what really matters, such as the alarmingly rapid decline in Arctic sea ice and increase in extreme weather events.” Apparently Mr. Cook doesn’t feel the Nature editorial putting science on notice saying: ‘Better models are needed before exceptional events can be reliably linked to global warming’ is worth heeding. It’s climate activist comedy gold.

Josh, always prescient, has some comedy gold of his own.

I’ll see Josh’s cartoon, and raise him a song! I did try to fit a hockey stick in there, but, like the science, it just doesn’t fit! 🙂
Scare The World (Don’t they know it’s Climate Change????)
It’s Climate Change, we all need to be afraid
With Climate Change, we fake science or we banish it
And in our world of plenty, we should destroy prosperity!
Throw your arms up in despair, it’s Climate Change!
But say a prayer – pray for the stupid ones
With Climate Change, it’s hard but you must stop having fun
There’s an IPCC consensus
And it’s a report of dread and fear
Cause the only water flowing are the melt from the glaciers
And the deniers and auditors, ignore our science and our doom
Well tonight pray Gaia takes them instead of you
And there wont be snow in London town this Christmas time
The greatest gift they’ll get this year is Al….. Gore
Heat waves forever grow
No rain or rivers flow
Do they know it’s Climate Change at all?
Here’s to you there’s no gas for anyone
Here’s to them they’re so ignorant and dumb
Do they know it’s Climate Change at all?
Scare the world
Scare the world
Scare the world
Let them know it’s Climate Change and
Scare the world
Let them know it’s Climate Change
Scare the world
Let them know it’s Climate Change….

Here’s the vid for those too young to know or remember….

The thing that always strikes me about the majority of Warmists and Warmist blogs is the pure vitriolic hate shown towards anyone that dares not tow the party line. It makes you realise that it was intransigent, blinkered people like this that burnt witches at the stake, prevented emancipation because of a persons gender, creed or race, forced millions into political collectives, held back the reformation and the enlightenment all because they refuse to allow any opposition to their beliefs. They truly are the Climate Taliban and sadly they are funded by our taxes and\or via charity tax exemptions.
As for the academic saps that feed them dubious and academically poor information, well it must be a thrill for so many previosly inconsequential and unproductive people to have a taste of real political power, no wonder they have become addicted to it and now can’t give it up. It is going to take one huge dose of cognitive dissonance to shake these people. But not to worry, nature will see to that, eventually…

Using more than one sample?
Bah, that’s for laymen. A statistical genius like the Lew man can create an entire world view of one sample.

“Yes, we intend to focus on what really matters, sea level rise.
What? Sea level rise is decelerating and insignificant?”
“!?!? Coco / Caribe plates’ movement raises Nicoya?!?!?
Over a meter, you say? Where do we put that: increased elevation? lowered sea level?
Yes, we intend to focus on what really matters,………….”

Another great cartoon by Josh to highlight a post about another absurd post from SkepticalScience. Well done, Anthony!!

From the first couple of sub-cartoons I thought it was directed to a particular scientist at UEA.
Sooner or later they’ll thank us. Most likely later.

@AlexM
I think you meant, “Therefore there has probably been a net cooling taking account of the enthalpy of mixing [when you mix fresh water with saline, the mixture cools]. On that basis I am predicting an extraordinarily fast ice freezebecause there will be no warming from below.”
I agree with your analysis.

Is there some part of the word “decelerating” that you do not understand?

With their degree of tolerance and reason, plus if Anthony had written a lot of books, I feel sure street book burning parties would right now be underway in several parts of America.
Perhaps as Anthony writes a blog, they’ll be out there burning their computers. I don’t know if Phil Jones still has to wipe the typex off the screen.

Alarmist: Look! Look! That car is travelling 100 km/hr straight toward a wall that it will strike with catastrophic consequences.
Skeptic: Uhm…. the wall is 100 km away and the car is decelerating.
Alarmist: Do you not understand what happens when a car hits a wall at 100 km/hr?
Skeptic: Uhm…. yes I do, but the car is decelerating!
Alarmist: Look! Look! That car is travelling 1400 meters/minute and is headed staright for that wall! Catastrophe!
Skeptic: Uhm…. the wall is about 99 km away and the car is decelerating…
Alarmist: Do you know what happens when a car hits a wall at 1400 meters/minute?
Skeptic: Uhm…. yes, somewhat less than what would happen at 100 km/hr, but the point is the car is decelerating.
Alasmist: Look! Look! That car is travelling 10,000 mm/S and is headed straight for that wall! Catastrophe!
Skeptic: Uhm…. the wall is about 98.5 km away and the car is decelerating.
Alarmist: Graph those data points! 100! 1400! 10,000! Do you not see what is happening here? Catastrophe! Catastrophe!
Skeptic: Uhm…. the car has come to a stop. Ooops, he got rear ended. OK, now we have a problem.
Alarmist: See? I TOLD you that car was headed for catastrophe! And LOOK! After being hit from behind by that semi-trailer, the car is now skidding down the road toward that wall again! MORE catastrophe! When are you skeptics going to learn something about science?
Skeptic: Uhm…. I’ve got some land for sale. Not worth much right now but in a hundred years it will be beach front property. Speculators are going wild. You want in on the ground floor?

Just read the original crook Cook post.
In relation to the hacking at the sKs site, he indignantly refers to

…. unethical process of publishing stolen private correspondence.

and

mining from stolen private correspondence

The sad sack tone contrasts with the glee and almost ecstatic fervour with which sKs participated in the dissemination of the stolen Heartland documents here and here and here
Hypocrite.

I’m surprised John Cook is not seeking the contact details for Bob Geldof to arrange for “Concert for Clime-Aid”.

At 11″40 AM on 20 September, Stephen Brown had observed of the above-cited cartoon:

Josh has created an even more amusing up-dated desktop version!

…which, please note, uses as its “wallpaper” Josh’s version of the University of East Anglia’s own.
I do hope the UEA folks enjoy getting done “Different.”
If anybody ever deserved to get done – good and hard – it’s them folks.
