100m countup open thread

UPDATE: Anyone who can get the screencap showing the counter at 100,000,000 on the right sidebar will get a free 100 million coffee cup with a special cartoon from Josh – Anthony

Hilary Ostrov writes via email:

Not sure where else to post this so that you will see it, but as I write, your blogstats are sitting at 99,965,942 views … so your blog is rapidly approaching a very significant milestone – which I anticipate will probably be reached within the next day or so (if not sooner!)

May I suggest that you start a Countup thread, so that lurkers and fans may express their thoughts as this milestone approaches … This will build excitement and traffic – and confound the “powers that wannabe”, I’m sure 😉

On one hand it thought to myself “it’s just a number, no big deal” on the other hand I thought “this only comes once, and a number of people have emailed me about it, so there must be some excitement going on”.

So, who am I to argue with the lady? Sound off below.

100 million. A good start.
RE: Joe Zeise says:January 7, 2012 at 7:08 am: “I switched……from Drudge to WUWT as my home page a year ago”
Drudge is pretty much useless, and not just on climategate etc. issues. For a guy who claims to have made his bones covering what no one else would (Lewinsky), he’s remarkably silent on a lot of damned serious issues… until their well and thoroughly covered elsewhere.
Drudge’s recent emphasis on Prison Planet “reports” doesn’t do a lot for whatever credibility he might have had.
But, I confess, sometimes I do still check Drudge out. For much the same reason I’ll glance at the National Inquirer in check out lines: some mild amusement during a brief period of boredom. But certainly not for edification or enlightenment.

I follow your site with barely google translator because my English proficiency is limited. Even if this translation is not correct.
Antony, I congratulate him for his battle against the lie of global warming, and finding items to prove it. Although this summer in Argentina is terribly dry and temperatures have exceeded several times 40 ° C. And that is nothing that effects of La Niña. I live in the city of Villa Allende, Cordoba, Argentina.
Then leave the Spanish text, in one of those you speak Spanish, haha!.
Greetings and a hug.

not long now – but getting exactly 100,000,000 in the frame? As unlikely as Al giving his Oscar and Nobel back.

It appears from comments here that WordPress updates the count at some interval, not with each page served. Bummer. I do have a capture of the HTML at

<li id="blog-stats" class="widget-container widget_statscounter">
 <h3 class="widget-title">Blog Stats</h3>
	<ul>
	<li>99,999,962 views</li>
	</ul>

So it would be easy enough to fake, I should think, but I won’t try.

Did anyone check the blog stata can display 100,000,000?
It’s been stuck at:
Blog Stats
99,999,962 views

for waaaay toooo long!

January 7, 2012 7:56 am

I see 99,999,962, but when I refresh the page it doesn’t change. What’s up with that? I expect there’s some good scientific explanation as usual (to stop people erroneously increasing counts?) but I should be seeing other new people’s hits shouldn’t I?
