UPDATE: Anyone who can get the screencap showing the counter at 100,000,000 on the right sidebar will get a free 100 million coffee cup with a special cartoon from Josh – Anthony

Not sure where else to post this so that you will see it, but as I write, your blogstats are sitting at 99,965,942 views … so your blog is rapidly approaching a very significant milestone – which I anticipate will probably be reached within the next day or so (if not sooner!)
May I suggest that you start a Countup thread, so that lurkers and fans may express their thoughts as this milestone approaches … This will build excitement and traffic – and confound the “powers that wannabe”, I’m sure 😉
On one hand it thought to myself “it’s just a number, no big deal” on the other hand I thought “this only comes once, and a number of people have emailed me about it, so there must be some excitement going on”.
So, who am I to argue with the lady? Sound off below.
Here’s a couple more 100 Million themed videos that are actually Science related and pretty darned good …

I think the 8,331 visits WUWT got in the last hour have confused the hit counter.
I managed to get screen captures at 99,999,962 and then it jumped to 100,004,397
Did anyone get anything closer?

Nope.
I was one of many stuck at 99,999,962…. That is one heck of a count Anthony. You’re my hero, and aninspiration to 100,000,000 visitors!
Well, I got the cap at 10e8 +. As I suspect many others did, since WordPress updates at a set time interval, rather than with each new visit.
Do we all get one of those mugs?

Auld Lang Syne

Type: Poem
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!
Chorus.-For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint stowp!
And surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak a cup o’kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.
We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou’d the gowans fine;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
Sin’ auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.
We twa hae paidl’d in the burn,
Frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
Sin’ auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.
And there’s a hand, my trusty fere!
And gie’s a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll tak a right gude-willie waught,
For auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.
Me too got 100,004,397… congratulations!
I got the same as William Sears at 8:08 am.

Faking numbers takes you to the warm side, Luke.
So I wake up, and find I missed “the big moment” by all of about 30 minutes.
Sigh. Once again the Left Coast Geography strikes again 😉
At least I can enjoy the afterglow 😎
Congratulations, and thanks to all who made it happen!
Damn, missed it by 13,197. 🙂
Congratulations!

Mann you are on a roll Anthony!
But you forgot grants! As in ‘never fake a number for large government grants’…
…or for your movie…sorry if I am being inconvenient…but it’s the Truth!
Or the temperature of the room, which should never be faked…, especially for a Senate hearing…right, Dr. Hansen…

@Joshualdo
While I realise you are following an accepted methodology, your computer model in this case underestimates the rate of accumulation.
Ah, those trends…
Actually, I’m not going to post a revised estimate as I do have an unfair advantage and I reckon I won’t be too far off.
LOL.
Congratulations everyone! And let’s not forget to include Kenji Watts, The Concerned Scientist 🙂 and hopefully IPCC reviewer.
Now, the big unanswered question still is: where’s the party? 🙂
Viv Evans says: January 7, 2012 at 7:59 am: Blimey – 38 more to get to the magic number, at 15.59 GMT!
See, Verity Jones? So my incredibly hi-tech Excel (liar, liar, it’s OpenOffice) spreadsheet was spot on! Maybe it was just the DST… or lacking a little fudge factor… or basic arithmetic… or number theory… or parallax error … 🙂
I slept through the big event… oh well….
see you at 1 billion….. it won’t be long… growth feeds growth…
Congrats Anthony…It is clear you love the discipline of science.

The world has unfolded as it should 🙂 Congratulations, Anthony, mods and all And in case anyone missed:
Thanks for another amazing stat, and for the reminder, dbs 🙂

100,049,172 views at 07:13 Sunday morning Thailand time. I was in the Pattaya Beergarden last night when the 100 million broke.
OK – when will Real Climate get 100 million hits? My guess is at 5000 ppm CO2.
Currently 100,051,629 views, so we’re talking upward of 50,000 views per day. I ‘advertise’ WUWT on my own website, and frequently on Rantburg and Facebook. I hope I’ve had some small hand in reaching this number beyond my own personal views. The more people who read WUWT, the better off the world will be. The more people learn and understand how poorly we really understand climate, the less the possibility of the warmenistas winning their battle to destroy civilization as we know it. It’s a battle worth fighting! Here’s to our general, Anthony Watts!
Anthony,
It is too bad that you took the weekend off working on your comouter, because we had planned a party for you and apparently you didn’t see the invite. Invitations went out to everyone, but the Aussies didn’t show up because they won’t get their invites until yesterday…
A lot of your commenters showed up to party and to help. Willis almost didn’t make it, since he hitchiked and all. Wayne set off some fireworks; Gareth Phillips brought dancing girls and chocolate; Dave and Jorgen F. brought some nice but stinky cigars; Chris B was trying to sell carbon credits, but no one took him up on the deal; Tallbloke was here with his computers, but he wouldn’t let them out of his sight; Verity Jones made a quick trip here, but spent her evening out digging in the clay out back ( not sure what that was about). Beth Cooper helped me light 100,000,000 candles on the cake ( and believe me it was hard to find a cake big enough for all the candles) but R Gates blew them all out because of all the CO2 produced.
Orkneygal and DaveR brought beer; BernardJ contributed some fine champagne; and Stephen Brown had some very smooth whisky. Jimmy Haigh, newtlove and catweazle666 also contributed, or at least owned up to having a few. We won’t even talk about Bloke down the pub. We also had lots of fizzy non-alcoholic drinks for those who don’t drink alcohol.
Slide rules came out as the engineering types showed each other their latest calculations. Bob Tisdale unfurled a roll of charts that would choke a horse and there were some heated discussions from that corner of the room. I had to take some hockey sticks away from a few of the guests, who were a little too enthusiastic in the house, especially with so many guests. I think I saw Mike, Phil, Kevin and Ben peering over the fence, but they never ventured into the house. Maybe Verity out digging holes in the yard scared them off.
Smokey stopped by, as did Lubos Motl, E.M.Smith, Mike Bromley and even Mr. Lynn. I was surprised when Lord Monckton dropped in.(literally) I know I didn’t see everyone, but most signed the guest book. The consensus was that you missed a great party, and we plan to have another when you reach your next milestone.
Congratulations. Judy F
Here you go Kevin (transplaned from the old NorCal site): Day One

Thanks Dr Bill!
@Josualdo
If you happen to see this – apologies for consistently adding ‘h’ into your name. It seems in all the excitement I was not reading properly.
JudyF,
Thanx for that report. Enjoyed it! ☺
I should like to add my heartfelt congratulations to Anthony Watts and all those who have made this site such a huge success, although, as an Arts rather than Science person, I am unable to contribute to the contents itself. The only thing, I suspect, I did contribute was the term “pal review”, which Professor Jerome Ravetz gave currency through one of his contributions, after a comment of mine on an earlier article of his, referring to me as “one witty blogger”. I can see, however, that the truth-seeking sceptics are right and the agenda-driven alarmists deadwrong.
One question though: would it not be possbile to provide the number of commenters (after all theiir email address is bound to have been stored somewhere) and also the number of article writers with the number of contributions to to their credit? Surely, this would add some more interesting information on the success of this site!
Also I wholeheartedly agree with Willis Eschenbach’s wish that many more commenters would feel they can afford the luxury of writing under their own name.
