100m countup open thread

UPDATE: Anyone who can get the screencap showing the counter at 100,000,000 on the right sidebar will get a free 100 million coffee cup with a special cartoon from Josh – Anthony

Hilary Ostrov writes via email:

Not sure where else to post this so that you will see it, but as I write, your blogstats are sitting at 99,965,942 views … so your blog is rapidly approaching a very significant milestone – which I anticipate will probably be reached within the next day or so (if not sooner!)

May I suggest that you start a Countup thread, so that lurkers and fans may express their thoughts as this milestone approaches … This will build excitement and traffic – and confound the “powers that wannabe”, I’m sure 😉

On one hand it thought to myself “it’s just a number, no big deal” on the other hand I thought “this only comes once, and a number of people have emailed me about it, so there must be some excitement going on”.

So, who am I to argue with the lady? Sound off below.

Congratulations to Anthony, and all the mods & guest contributors, you are doing a fantastic job. This site deserves to be the most visited, for AGW science.
I am an engineer with over 30 years experience, and have been reading this site for over 2 years, and I really appreciate the effort put in by all concerned, to work towards the truth, pushing back the boundaries of ignorance & superstition.
Well done. Please keep it up. I have contributed and will again, and encourage others to do so.

Hit Rate is now around 2000+ per hour.
100 Millionth should occur no later than 2:00pm (14:00) EST.
That is 11:00am West Coast blogtime.

Great Stuff!! Keep it up!

Another milestone!
I first found WUWT five years ago and have read it almost everyday since then. A fantastic site that cuts through the crud and says it like it is. No misrepresentation, no lies, no exaggeration, no misdirection. Those on the other side of the CAGW argument could learn a lot from Anthony (if they were interested in learning).
I’ve seen the hit-counter roll through 5m, 10m, 50m and now as we approach 100m I salute WUWT and all who sail in her! Hoorah!

More than 1,800 views in the time it took me to skim theses posts. 99,984,194 at 12:43 here in Kobe Japan.
My absolute first site to visit every day.
You must SO burn the CAGW crowd Anthony. Please keep up the incredible effort you put in.

For all the ugly things said about WattsUpWithThat, may continued success and open, crowd-sourced exploration of climate science be an eternal thorn in our enemies skin. Well done, Anthony. 99,986,026

Congrats! Anthony and all the volunteers deserve a great big thank you.
BSM 4:12, Mike Mann and Grant Foster can easily process those numbers to show that RC has more visitors, and the results will be……..robust.

Congratulations, Anthony! Your blog has been a fantastic source of science & climate information. However, I think the work you did on the HSCN sites is even more important. You proved that our data is riddled with huge errors and the US temps out of NASA GISS are bogus. GIGO!
It will take this site a lot less time to hit 200m. Especially if FOIA releases the encryption code and the veil over AGW is blown away. May that day come sooner than later!

Can blog stats actually count that high?

Its 7th Jan 2012 here in a sunny Sussex UK, and I have just spotted my first daffodil and camellia in flower.
Is this a record?
This must be introconvertible proof of something:-)

I reckon the 100,000,000 mark will turn up sometime before 07:30am PST. Unfortunately it is now clear the view counter does not update often enough that we’ll know exactly, however, perhaps someone at WordPress may be able to check their software if it has captured the time somewhere and let Anthony know

January 7, 2012 5:07 am

My linear computer model, with a R squared of 0.962 predicts that the mark is very likely to be attained at 17:00 GMT, which gives us some assurance that that will be the only thing that will not happen.

@Joshualdo
LOL And of course you have assumed a linear relationship when in fact a most important and often overlooked factor to consider is natural variability 😉 (in this case the natural daily cycle)

Many congrats Anthony, highly deserved!

100,000,000…now that’s a lot of candles on the cake! WUWT denizens, how about a symbolic gesture when the number comes up…We all light a candle to celebrate WUWT, beacons of enlightenment around the globe and gestures of defiance against thought control…and think of all the co2 we going to emit!

I got RSI just scrolling down through all these comments! Well done in spreading the anti-AGW message. Fantastic work! 😎
