Elmer, please have your boom box blaring out the backround music you guys produce it is great. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and it will be unseasonably cold. 🙂
This is a pretty big conference, Mann’s a very small part of it. Here’s his 15 minute gig:

“Where’s the heat?”
I agree we shouldn’t do anything to embarrass ourselves but ignoring people like Mann is not a good idea. What we need to do is make a big deal about the fact he hasn’t gone toe to toe with those he disagrees with we need to make sure those going to listen to him understand he refuses to defend his position publicly and ask them if they can explain why Mann is afraid to mix it up with us. What is he afraid of?
Thanks for posting Anthony should be a hoot!
This is ridiculous. This site is Best Science Blog? Imagine how all of you would react if Real Climate was distributing information about a protest ahead of Steve McIntyre’s speach somewhere… I enjoy this site and visit regularly, but this post is crowd behaviour at its worst. Oh, I get it, it’s funny… well, it’s supposed to be, but it’s not.
@Steamboat Jack
Thanks! I love a good body paint job. That’s a sweet protest.
“Who’s got our backs?”
Every government in the world, every church in the world, every university in the world, 90% of the major corporations, all the investment banks and insurance companies, 90% of the mass media.
He has vastly more support than any religion, ideology or movement in all of history.
And still he wants MORE.
What an egregious monster.
I’m going to add my voice to those asking for restraint. Call him out, sure — in print. Push him for a public debate. But a placard protest? I can already see the news reports: Mann talking about the organised attacks on climate scientists while video footage is shown of crowds protesting a climate scientist. Doesn’t sound productive to me.
Peter, my friend…
It’s “speech”, not “speach”.
And “all of us” wouldn’t react to anything Real Climate distributes, because most of us never read ideological propaganda blogs.
Michael Mann is a con man and deserves a hefty prison term.
Lacking that, any amount of ridicule is justified.
Here’s a good slogan for a sign…
“Michael Mann, Game misconduct for climate fraud”
Sign idea:
The science is settled: stop the funding!

The warmers might do the same thing to Anthony.
Gareth do you really think they don’t? Anthony has one old biddy who follows him into his office demanding to know how much money he gets from Exxon.
Anyhow I hope Elmer’s friend, the Micheal Mann doppleganger meets the real deal in a hallway.
Maybe the Mann and Anti-Mann will touch fingers and the universe will implode or something.
I think that he should be ignored. He will be preaching to the choir. Who would such a protest influence? Also, with the silliness still going on down on Wall Street, folks may react negatively to yet another protest. The Mann man is irrelevant. Let’s not make him appear to be otherwise.
Anthony. I recommend ignoring him as others suggested. Any visible protest only supports his agenda and supports a media circus. A protest there potentially garners him media attention that ripples globally for the next week. Recommend that they call off the protest and send an email to the media to the effect that they decided that he was not worth the time. Michael Mann who?
Well thanks to the likes of Mann, where Prime Minister Gillard has constantly quoted that “the science is in” Australia this morning has just had carbon tax legislation passed !

“Red noise in…
hockey stick out.”
But the best sign of all would be just plain ol’
“Minnesotans for Global Warming”
Accompanying chant would be
“What do we want?”
“GLOBAL WARMING!”
“When do we want it?”
“NOW!”
My $0.02, and I probably owe you some change.
You guys really think that protesting at the Geological Society of America’s annual meeting is going to make people take you seriously? The professional Earth Science community already thinks you’re uneducated bozo’s, and this will confirm their suspicions.
Why would a scientist need someone to “have his back?” If he has the facts, he doesn’t need anything else.
