Our own CTM is a "nasty cruel man"

Heh, gaze upon the face that launched a thousand quips.

Charles the Moderator

I figured though, that I owed Dellers a linky for the big LOL I got this morning as I read that CTM gets press in the UK Telegraph for his recent WUWT article.

The figures refer to the number of “views” for Gore’s special “24 Hours Of ManBearPig” which this column helped celebrate the other day. Gore claims that as many as 8.6 million flocked to his thrilling festival of climate fear; but a nasty cruel man called Charles the Moderator at Watts Up With That? has “done the math” and reckons the figure is probably more like 17,000. And that, he believes, is a generous estimate.

Anthony,
Why don’t we have an international ‘WUWT moderator-fest’? It will probably get more views/participation than AG’s Climate Reality Project.

I checked out the Gore-A-Thon as well. Couldn’t get anything to work, so left. Can’t remember if I clicked there from WUWT or not, but I’ll bet a significant number of Gore’s hits were from the more skeptical crowd.

Now that’s a compliment you should get printed in black and white to frame and hang next to your desk (cube/whatever).
You the Man!
On a different tangent; I think maybe the 8.6 mill estimate must’ve come from the alarmist expectations that true believers will reduce electricity (besides give money with abandon), so for every screen there were 500 people in attendance watching that one little screen… Yeah right! More like, what’s it called when people see crowds waving and cheering them, when nobody is present? Oh yeah, Gore’s delusions of grandeur.
On a different tangent; Does anbody know how much money got given or pledged during that marathon of Goreness? Did they even get $17,000?

Here’s what I have from our wordpress stats system
outbound clicks to climaterealityproject.org

I was one of those. Couldn’t get the video to run after waiting a few minutes so I closed the browser window.
At least I was able to do something else while waiting for the video so I didn’t really lose that few minutes of my life.

Sucking up to the mods probably won’t stop them from snipping you if you go to far but that being said they are pretty good aren’t they 🙂

Dang, and here I thought the funniest part of the day was this morning.
ABC’s Good Morning America, the 7AM EDT news update. They were warning about the falling satellite. The presenter was at their large monitor screen, showing some images, then showed a calendar with the Thurs-Sat block colored red, saying how the breakup and crash was expected Friday.
They were highlighting September 15 to 17.
How many graphic designers, editors, and producers did that get through, including the presenter dude and the rest of the on-air crew who didn’t comment, without noticing they had highlighted last week?
*sigh* GMA, produced by the ABC News Division. Yup, that sure inspires confidence in their accuracy. And how much longer until they trot out their trusted nuclear/earthquake/tsunami/global warming/(fill-in-blank) expert Michio Kaku again? Could he comment on the Gore-a-thon numbers? Maybe explain how the “missing viewers” were in the deep ocean and will reappear later?

PaulID,
: )
Snipped once in 3 years and through thousands of comments. No problem. But good is good and they is good.

This ‘rebuttle’ was drafted, peer-reviewed (by myself), and ‘OK’d’ by a randomly selected editior teetering on the brink of resignation all within 8 minutes 32 seconds.

I’m with your “editior” (sic). Unless your scare quotes around “rebuttle” were meant to acknowledge that you were deliberately misspelling “rebuttal”? Somehow, I doubt it …

If nothing else I would like to thank the moderators for their efforts to try to put my comments into a form of sentence that actually seems to express a cogent thought.
It is appreciated.

Use that picture of him above, keep the initials the same with the caption “charles the monster”… Yeah, that’ll be great!
(Sarcasm? Frankly, I’m not sure myself.)

Suggestion for Anthony: There should be a regular weekly roundup of the Top Ten external threads like this one (Delingpole’s). Or there should be a running list of the most recent Ten Threads in the sidebar.

REPLY: Sure, I’ll just squeeze that into my already underbooked schedule – Anthony

I didn’t mean to suggest that you be the editor, just that you set it up. You could appoint other(s) to be editors. Surely there’d be volunteers. There could be a tab at the top where WUWTers could submit links for their consideration, like the tab for submitting articles.

He’s made Drudge now – CTM has truly arrived!

September 21, 2011 8:30 pm

Charles was a steadying hand on the tiller during Anthony’s bad family health break a year or so ago. Charles held WUWT together then. I have always since admired him for that, and hope a lot of people realized and appreciated that service to the blog.
He’s also a pretty funny bloke! (Thanks for the comic interludes via moderation, Charles.)

Well Chasmod is just a pussy cat. You stroke that Sir Walter Raleigh of his, and he just purrs up a storm. And the looking over those Horn rims, is sheer self aggrandizement; makes him look semi- intelligent; well for a kid anyway.
No they just don’t make ’em like Chasmod any more; and he’s pretty much all ours. Lucky Us !!

Don’t laugh too soon Mr Moderator.
You have failed to take into account the Gore Internet Access Coeefficient.
GIAC = 8,600,000/17,000 = 505.8824.
If we apply the GIAC to WUWT’s claimed viewing number of 89,229,251 it clearly reveals that WUWT has only had 176,383.4 views versus Al Gore’s 8.6 million.
Who’s smiling now eh ?
