Couple of points.
1. It has been revealed that some of the email “threats” date back to early 2010 and in effect pre-dates the Aust Govt’s decision to implement a carbon tax by a whole year.
2. The artist of the cartoon produces cartoons for the left wing Australian website called “crikey” (among other media outlets). I was a bit surprised to see it here.

Louise is referring to a Green led ban on exporting live cattle to indonesia. This followed a ‘public outcry’ after scenes of cruelty were filmed in an Indonesian slaughter house.
Firstly, I grew up on a dairy farm and I detest any cruelty to cows which are in the main gentle creatures…but as with so much Green thinking there is an absence of logic which has lead to a glaring and frankly appalling error of judgment on the part of the Gillard Government. Let me put it this way.
Cruelty to some cows in Indonesia = despicable= perpetrators should be punished = practice abolished = 1 X on the ‘scale of suffering’.
Cruelty to 250.000! cows which will not be exported over the next six months = hunger…transport…slaughter…pit burial…unimaginable pain and waste = cruelty to farmers, feed stock merchants, truckers, stock yard owners, ship owners = financial ruin…domestic violence…possible suicide = 1000 X on the same ‘scale of suffering.
I a reminded of when the Animal Liberation People in the UK ‘liberated’ the population of a mink farm so that the cute furry things would not be harmed….it simply didn’t occur to them that the mink would kill every living thing on the river system for miles around…in short they caused an ecological disaster.
The Greens are a menace and must be stopped.

I love the part where it says “The university denied it was creating a ruse, maintaining the initial report, in the Fairfax-owned Canberra Times last week, failed to indicate when the threats were made.” Nor were the nine scientists “locked away.”
What, no peer-review? Shame on the university! How can we be expected to believe university staff, much less scientists, if they have no capacity to review the work of others? That could lead to white-washed investigations and worse!

With World Environment Day falling on a Sunday the usual rentacrowd were out in a few noisy thousands in the capital cities to spruik the Govt’s failing stocks with a ‘Yes to carbon tax day’. Their time in the sun in Australia is coming to an end like it is everywhere else and we have the power and democracy of the internet to thank for that, not least sites like WUWT. Charlatans and carpet-baggers cannot control the message and the ether forever, although they can certainly ride the waves of mass hysteria for some considerable time.
I read it quickly and thought it said “Hang a climate scientist day.”

Its a cartoon. I thought it was hilarious! Poor scairt critters. Don’t make any sudden political movements….. irrelevant ballpoint pens and ants. Hiding in a radio broadcasting building. And best of all, the cheesy goatee? worn by the critter on the bottom left………. a riot!
the tragedy is that the MSM’s coverage of the so-called “death threats” is still dominant on searches and those who so readily fell for this nonsense will not now report that it was the usual spin we’ve come to expect from warmists.
i won’t be hugging any of them, least of all the warmist MSM.
In Oz, on Monday 6th June a local TV Channel website Ninemsn ran a poll asking : “should an election be held before a carbon tax is introduced”. I did not see the final result but in less than a 24 hour period the voting was:
YES 109,158
NO 25,762
IMO the significance of this poll should not be underestimated, coming as it did after a fortnight of intensive non-stop propaganda by government and associated CAGW believers, of which the bogus death threat beatup was a part.
It also included the Steffen Report which was just a rehash of the guesses in the pathetic UNIPCC 2007 Report:

Despite all this, in a 24-hour period nearly 135,000 people chose to register a vote with a massive majority calling for an election and by default,registering their opposition to a tax on carbon dioxide. In my view, these numbers reflect the widespread concern in the community which journalist and polticians fail to recognise. Combet dismisses such clear opposition merely as rabble stirred up by L/CP Leader Tony Abbott. How wrong he and most MSM journalists are!!

I’m not sure I’d dare to hug any of them hippies, I know some of ’em and there’s like autonomous living stuff crawling in them beards of theirs that freaks me out. The a natural sewer smell I can take but OMG the sight and sound of that crawling autonomous stuff….
The half baked stories of recent death threats to Australian climate pseudo scientists were cooked up from stale emails years old. These stories however were not intended to garner sympathy for the climate activist scientists, rather they were intended as a smear against sceptics. This was supposed to lend support to calls for less coverage of sceptic views in the media as it may encourage such behaviour. This is evidenced by stories such as this –
