Hump Day Hilarity

Honestly, how did I miss this one? This certainly deserves some sort of headline award.

Who knew that NASA was into reanimation of people killed by global warming climate change climate disruption climate challenges?

The full story and comments are priceless, here.

There’s some other humor afoot today too. We all need humor for hump day and these should brighten even the most dreary Monday Wednesday.

Zombies (and AGW proponents) are always in search of (and in need of) brains.

Thanks for that! Too funny…
I have posted a story at my site that might be good for a laugh.
Discovery Lands Safely, Then Taken Out Back and Shot.
Have a fun day!

Finally. A photograph of the whole consensus. And they’re doing peer review right there on the spot!
I assume that Hansen’s peer to his right must be Chuck, reading about the future:
“If you want to know the scientific consensus on global warming, read the reports by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. But if you want to know what the consensus will be ten years from now, read Jim Hansen’s work.”
— Dr. Chuck Kutscher, National Renewable Energy Laboratory and American Solar Energy Society (ASES), editor of ASES report “Tackling Climate Change in the U.S.
And Hansen’s peer to his left, and, really, to almost everybody’s left, must be Bill, in awe and looking for Hansen’s fruits:
“Jim Hansen is the planet’s great hero. He offered us the warning we needed twenty years ago, and has worked with enormous courage ever since to try and make sure we heeded it. We’ll know before long if that effort bears fruit—if it does, literally no one deserves more credit than Dr. Hansen.”
— Bill McKibben, coordinator 350.org and author of The End of Nature
So who’s holding the other end of that sign? Al Gore, who has been staying out of sight a lot lately due to insufficient masseuse relief? Or Arnold’s relative?
“Dr. James Hansen is Paul Revere to the foreboding tyranny of climate chaos—a modern-day hero who has braved criticism and censure and put his career and fortune at stake to issue the call to arms against the apocalyptic forces of ignorance and greed.”
— Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
Anyhow, great photo. So many potential uses in the department of ridicule.

Oops. Left this last fragment dangling. Should have been deleted. It is not a zombie, it is one of Hansen’s peers.

I guess Halloween came early, but the scariest one is the one in the middle dressed up like Hanson.

I just realised I may have broken a rule by posting a link to my site without permission. My sincere apologies! I just got caught up in the moment. It wont happen again.
Thanks Anthony.

fwiw, while some people have pointed out to me locally that oct 14. 2010 was not wednesday, it was a thursday, I must assume that the picture was taken on the previous day since it talks about “this afternoon” and is datelined 9:00 AM.

Given the hat, I think Hansen’s Walter Mitty image is that of Indiana Jones.

You may have a point.

No wonder NASA’s rocket launches and satellites are failing. They should spend less time on this nonsense and more time looking staring into space. ;O)

I recognize that photo!
It’s the band The GasHansens, on tour to promote their latest album.
It’s a heavy-carbon group that’s losing popularity, partly due to its inability to keep a drummer. –Drummers keep self-combusting (Same problem plagued Spinal Tap) from their extreme carbon footprints that come from extensive travel for self promotion.
Another problem with the band is that their followers have a religious, cult like mentality, and think that a gas that they themselves emit is the cause of all the world’s ills.
Much of their early appeal caught on with small children who would dress up like the band members once a year and solicit candy, which in turn they’d eat and go into dervish-like sugar fueled frenzies.

We could contrast this apogee of the flight from rational science with the celebration of the life sustaining accomplishments of Anthony’s distant relative at the perigee:

Perhaps we will see James Watt soon vilified in textbooks and hanging in effigy as the Great Enabler of Global Warming….along with his friend Joseph Black, who discovered the evil that is CO2.

D Bonson says (March 9, 2011 at 8:54 am): “Romm and Hansen attempt to create more global warming zombies. Fortunately, for the future of humanity, it is only contagious among those with a low intelligence.”
“The Farce can have a strong influence on the weak-minded.” 🙂

‘Discovery Lands Safely, Then Taken Out Back and Shot.’
If you need help chopping the wings off then our (UK) Government is up to the task. It has just chopped the wings off of our nimrods (AWACS to you) and our harriers. Just ship it over and we will smash it for you.
We can’t build S**t anymore but we sure can smash stuff up.
Sad but true.

How did they get Homer Simpson to the demonstration? I thought he was the unrepentant cause of global warming.

March 9, 2011 3:11 pm

I said I wouldn’t do this again without asking, so here’s me asking again! I just posted a new article you might also find funny and perhaps appropriate for this comment thread? It’s G rated and suitable for all ages with some light political satire.
More Hump Day Funnies?
Cheers!

Remember it’s now “Koch” because it’s easier to spell than “Halliburton”.
I saw a corny political movie a couple of days ago, Syriana, with George Clooney. It had all these figments of political left wing imaginations. It was so corny that at one point I yelled at the screen “Where’s the Halliburton microfilm?!” and laughed.

WUWT is my favorite site – I visit at least five times per day. However, most of the comments are trivial and degrade instead of enhance the site’s effectiveness. Stooping to ridicule does nothing to strengthen the case for basing decisions on sound science. Let’s clean up our act!

But James Hansen just begs to be made fun of.

Gail Zawacki

First let me say I am thrilled to have been linked, albeit by second-hand, to WUWT, the premiere [SNIP] blog in the US of A. Usually everything I have to say is ignominiously ignored – by climate scientists, climate activists, and [SNIP] alike. So it’s really special to be singled out for notice, whether for ridicule or serious recognition.
I thought I should step in to clear up some misunderstandings expressed here by some commenters.
1. Wonkette is SNARK. In other words, the headline is not making fun of Dr. Hansen, it’s making fun of…oh, never mind.
2. Climate Zombies is a fairly specific term that refers to the outright deceptions, distortions, and lies of omission that are repeated over and over by climate [SNIP], whether professional (paid by industry) or amateur hobbyists – in spite of the fact that said bunk has been thoroughly and technically demolished by legitimate scientific sources, again and again. Like zombies, they rise from the dead.
3. Please send more traffic and stupid comments to my blog. As ecosystems collapse all around, such distractions are terrifically amusing to me, and I could use the humor.

No need to explain. We can see them in the photo. Too bad the other two are wearing masks.
But thanks.
