What seems more fake to you, the argument that carbon emissions are melting the glaciers, or when the Iron Sheik surprises Hulk Hogan with a camel clutch?
I couldn’t tell you, I’m not into professional wrestling. I watch it every once in a while. I’m more about collegiate wrestling and mixed martial arts and ultimate fighting. That’s as real as it gets. As far as the global warming goes, to me that’s just a big forecast. Who’s going to be right? There are guys saying C02 is driving the whole thing and making the world warmer. Well, for the last 30 years, since we started the satellite era, the globe has been stacked for warmth. Now it’s changing around, so if the global temperature falls over the next 20, 30 years, we’ll know it’s not C02.
My problem with the debate is, it always seems like the people saying climate change is a myth are the same ones who own Hummers.
O.K., hold on. Those kinds of generalizations drive me crazy. You know what kind of car I drive? A Prius. I always have an economical car. Why? Forty miles per gallon sounds good to me. I also have an S.U.V., but that’s because I have kids. Somebody hits the darn thing from the side, with an S.U.V. you have a better chance of living. But it’s not about common sense, it’s about demonizing the other side. Suppose I drove a daisy-mobile, that was fueled entirely on daisies. Somebody would yell at me, “You’re killing all the daisies!”
Not me. I would totally buy your daisy-mobile.
I will tell you this. If I’m wrong about climate change, I will be the biggest cheerleader for the other side. What I resent is the demonization and the shutting down of the debate. When did we get to the point where one side of the debate is shut down completely? When did this happen? I don’t understand it. It’s why I didn’t read any of the Climategate e-mails. You know why? Because it would bias me against these guys. Everybody’s up in arms about the darn e-mails. All I’m concerned about is their work, and whether their work is right or wrong. All of that other stuff gets in the way of the issue, which is a very simple issue.

Tut. Over and under? You’re a cad sir. Gentlemen use a side b’ side.

You know that WWF sued the WWF and Vince McMahon and got him to back from using the name. McMahon changed to WWE, quite a while ago now.
The WCW – now that was the stuff.
Everybody’s up in arms about the darn e-mails. All I’m concerned about is their work, and whether their work is right or wrong
Their work is already turning out to be wrong. The emails give clear indications as to what they are doing. Please read the emails, Joe. It will not bias you. It will open your eyes to them.

I’m an AGW sceptic and I drive a Peugot 206 estate that does 55mpg. The point about the emails and the Hocky Stick graph is that there is a great deal of evidence there that the people at the forefront of the push to convince us all that the sky is falling are not being honest. Why would scientists who had a cast iron case be anything but totally honest and straight?
I believe Herr Stonyground has gotten right to the heart of the matter.
It is a matter of who is honest and who is not.

Here in Aus we are in depression. Our mates across the ditch are doing it tough in Christchurch. As if that ain’t bad enough our deceiptful PM has announced a “carbon” tax which she ruled out before the recent election. Most Australians are easy going, we don’t show our emotions much but we don’t like it when someone lies to us.
Well Lawrie, we of the shaky isles; wherever we are, are always grateful to know that our cobbers on the big island to the West; feel our pain too. I’m in contact with somewhat stunned friends, who live in the urbs of Ch-ch, and though they survived, and their belongings; know full well that the news will finally be much worse than it is now.
And it’s only a matter of weeks since we learned that half of Queensland was flooded; I still don’t know just what the ‘Strine half of the family, around Melbin actually had happening there at the same time.
Let’s face it, we pretty much only have each other, on the crusty side of the pizza, so we better hang together; well we always have.
Even though I’m now on the Part of America, that is going to fall into the Pacific; it’s always tough to hear of the travails of the folks down under.
I’m in constant contact, with folks trying to rid both places; of the carbon insanity; seems like you inherited a dumb dame, cast in the sem mould as our chaps just sent out to pasture; not that the replacement is showing much common sense either.
Sooner or later, some common sense may come through Lawrie; and you chaps are really in worse shape, since you have not much water; and plenty of coal.
Joe Cool. That’s what I like about him. Never loses it, on or off camera.
Joe’s not a body builder. He was a fine wrestler as an undergrad, now coaches wrestling at Penn State, and is one of the best senior (age group) wrestlers in the world.
Anyone around here get Accuweather Pro on their iPhone? Interesting post over at Gather.com about Joe’s resignation from a subscriber who was able to get all of their mets videos except for Joe. He sent an email to Joe and a few hours later Bastardi announced his adios. I have no idea of the veracity of this, but there should be plenty of people out there on this same service that can verify.
Joe, I miss your blog. We need your facts to counter the GW nuts. What ever you end up doing, I wish you luck, but I need my Big Dog and Long Ranger fix.
@Doug allen
Joe is a competitive bodybuilder, and talked about it frequently on his accuweather blog.
The interview followed the usual format of “Awkward Question time”. I thought Joe did a great job with it and actually came across as a cool customer that wasn’t afraid to roll along with the interview. It’s noteworthy, IMO, that he was even considered for the article considering his views and the abundance of pro AGW press coverage.
I’d like to arm wrestle Mr. Bastardi. Winner is right about climate change. We’re on the same side, but don’t let that minor detail distract you.
Was that Beavis our Butthead doing the interview?

Joe is right, the proof is in the pudding.
As pointed out, the proof is in the eating. But I really don’t think we want to get to the part where we have to eat AGW-mitigation pudding! It’s thin, sour, and poisonous.

Doh! Wrong thread!
The sad bigotry of the interviewer in full display.
The other Joe had some interesting pleasantries to offer regarding Joe B.

Probably a good thing that thread is closed. It’s time for a rematch.
It’s The Rock’s older brother!
Joe said: There are a lot of reputable people who think another ice age is coming. I go to conferences where there’ll be a thousand PhDs who don’t believe any of this stuff.
Pity these PhDs never get a hearing. The traditional way of conflicting ideas leading towards something resembling the truth has been sidestepped by the agents of politics and advocacy that control the purse strings on science funding.

“… this interviewer is just being silly.” … “when the GW alarmists aren’t trying to shut down the discussion they are acting silly to distract people from serious science and real information.”
Yep. Very disappointing.
I was amazed to discover this week that Joe Bastardi is an accomplished natural competitive bodybuilder.
What next?? We find out that Piers Corbyn is a 10th dan black belt Karate master??
Eric is nice guy and he was trying to have some fun. A couple of things. I dont drive a prius, I rent them though and happen to like them. Big Deal, right. And I said dang, not damn in the interview, cause I don’t use 4 letter words ( except for a snow lover.. rain) and finally, the next 20-30 years will prove which emperor has no clothes in this argument, whether I read emails or not. I just find that sometimes, like most humans, if one gets too wrapped up in some things then you
focus on the messenger and not the message. My message is the earth is cooling back to where it was in the 70s and we have the objective satellite data to prove it, no matter what those emails said.
Hey Joe, how about a heads up as to where you will be working?
Joe,
Even though Eric tried to “shut down the debate” numerous times even in a tongue-in-cheek way with little greenie red herrings…you held your own throughout….as always.
I thought your responses were excellent….and you controlled the situation….despite Eric getting his panties in a bunch “So you are saying Al Gore is a jerk etc.”
LOL….it is so funny watching these guys trip over their *****.
Well, all the best on your ventures. I have to confess I just cancelled my Accuweather Pro subscription (which is good through Nov of this year)…but I was a member of AW because I craved always hearing about your long-range instincts.
They are going to have a tough time trying to fill your shoes.

You have nothing to apologize for….e
Uh…unless Accuweather is late to the party Joe’s info is still there and he is a bodybuilder:
Both Joe and Jessica are competitive “drug–free” bodybuilders. Joe captured his weight classes in the over 35 and over 45–year–old brackets in the United States Natural bodybuilding championships in 2001, then outdid that by winning the overall title in October of 2002.

Wow, your excerpts could comprise the very definition of “not taking the bait”. I’ve never paid much attention to Joe. He just got a huge boost in esteem points from me. I envy folks who can expose the agenda behind questions instead of going on the defense. Think I’m gonna study Joe for a while; he’s taken some anti-Alinsky steroids or something.
