From Nopenhagen to Yes We Cancun

Thanks to Wikileaks, everyone here in the Mañana Republic of Mexico now knows just how much bullying and arm-twisting the administration of Barack Obama in the United States applied to various countries around the world so that they would (and did) sign up to the Copenhagen climate accord.
Without that pressure, nothing at all would have happened at Copenhagen this time last year, and “the Process” – the interminable round of flatulent annual climate conferences in exotic locations at taxpayers’ expense – would have tipped into the gulch forever.
The hard Left has learned the hard way that democracies do not welcome it and, in the end, will reject it. So the climate extremists have abandoned last year’s attempt, in the now-defunct September 15 Copenhagen Treaty draft, to install overnight an unelected world government consisting only of themselves, with unlimited powers of taxation, economic and environmental regulation without representation, as well as control of all formerly free markets worldwide, all in the name of Saving The Planet (which, of course, was triumphantly Saved 2000 years ago and does not need to be Saved again).
Instead, the Martini Marxists dancing the night away doing the Cancun Can-Can with the 25 pneumatic bunny girls in the newly-opened Playboy Casino on the ocean-front strip in Cancun have decided to copy the bureaucrats of the European Union, whose crafty, crabwise coup d’etat over the last three or four decades has transferred all real political power, little by little, treaty by treaty, to the dismal dictatorship of Brussels.
Though there is a toothless democratic fig-leaf in the shape of the European “Parliament”, all decisions in the EU are in fact taken by a couple of dozen faceless, overpaid Kommissars (that is the official German mot juste for them) – faceless because they meet behind closed doors and then emerge to promulgate their “Directives”: on average, one every three hours, day and night, Sundays and holidays included, 365 days a year, 366 days on leap-years.
In Europe, democracy has gone. Perma-Socialism has quietly supplanted it. If demolishing democracy worked there, the enviro-zombs’ reasoning goes, it will work on a worldwide scale, if only the crumbling pretext for global tyranny – the supposed need to prevent catastrophic “global warming” – can be kept going for long enough even though most ordinary voters (in those nations lucky enough to have them) have seen through the scam long since.
The Process works like this. A multitude of long, inspissate, obfuscatory, obnubilating, obscurantist draft agreements are circulated, always a day or two late for delegates to find out what they have actually agreed to. The daily timetables for the various “working” sessions of the conference are never available until breakfast-time on the day, allowing no scope for planning the day. By these means, most delegates are kept permanently and completely in the dark.
Here is a typical paragraph from one of these leaden documents:
“The SBSTA welcomed the report (FCCC/SBSTA/2010/INF.10) on the second workshop of the work programme on revising the “Guidelines for the preparation of national communications by Parties included in Annex I to the Convention Part I: UNFCCC reporting guidelines on annual inventories” (hereinafter referred to as the UNFCCC Annex I reporting guidelines), held in Bonn, Germany, from 3 to 4 November 2010, which was organized by the secretariat as requested by the SBSTA at its thirtieth session.”
Try to read several hundred pages of this stuff. It simply isn’t possible. And that, of course, is the idea. This is the Mushroom-Growers’ Management Method writ large: keep them in the dark and feed them plenty of sh*t.
What these ramblings conceal is the remarkably rapid rate at which dozens – no, hundreds – of new bureaucracies are being created as The Process grinds on. As anyone at the Playboy Casino will tell you, “somebody gotta pay for all those lights.” And that somebody is you, gentle taxpayer. No one has yet managed to discover just how much these hundreds of new supranational climate-change bureaucracies are costing us. That is an international state secret – until Wikileaks gets hold of the figures, of course.

I admire what you do greatly, and my style of dealing with things has been described as bone crunching, machine gunning the survivors and so on, but even so, I do sometimes think you overdo it more than slightly.
There and again, I wouldn’t set myself up as a life coach.
It has occurred to me that people sometimes need to be wooed away from a comfortable but destructive fictions and that the wooing process is something I’m better at priming others at than doing.

I too, liked what that ‘Sceptical Redcoat’ and others had to say. We’ve got some time, guys. There are now ‘Americans’ (alias – ‘Lovers of Freedom’) all over the globe and we’re from many ‘races’ and ‘cultures’ ~ And, the real ‘rush’ is – we’re actually LEARNING from each other and enjoying our differences rather than attacking them.
We’re not the type that’s gonna be herded either. We’re linking up stalwart arms and even MORE stalwart hearts that will bring means of ‘support to our fellow man’. Nothing, Absolutely NOTHING could be better at this time, barring a second coming – that is.

Good expose of bureaucratic government. The greenies sure have learnt how to exploit it. I used the link to his previous article on August 14th where he shows two temperature curves – one by the IPCC and another one he constructed himself. He is on the right track with his curve but he only shows the twenty-first century part of the satellite curve, thus avoiding the earlier, cooler region that also must be interpreted. The IPCC does use the entire satellite record but they draw a straight linr through it which has gives the impression of a uniform warming trend. But in so doing they treat the ENSO oscillations and the 1998 super El Nino as noise despite the fact that they are real and must be accounted for in any explanation of these data. I have studied them and have shown that the satellite data is disjoint and that the averages of the left and the right side are comprised of two parallel lines that do not meet. The one before 1998 traces out the center line of the ENSO oscillations and the one after 2002 follows the twenty-first century high.. In between is a four year transition region where temperature rises by a third of a degree and then stops. It is illegitimate to average the two sides of the satellite curve and it is totally illegitimate to include 1998 in any average because it has a different origin from the rest of the curve. But neither he nor the IPCC know how to properly represent this temperature curve which is covered with a fuzz of small peaks. They look like noise but they are not because they all appear in independent satellite records. What must be done to show the real temperature trend is to use a magic marker that incorporates the fuzz and thereby reveals the main temperature trend. I have done this in Figure 7 of my book “What Warming?” I am willing to send him a more up to date version of this temperature curve if he is interested. It is a graphic demonstration of the falsity of incorporating a step change into a linear trend which is what IPCC is doing and which nobody has called them on.
I love reading Monckton, for each time there are a half dozen new words and I learn one of them 😉
But he does have a handle on things. Though I think the Global Socialists are discovering that the USA is a harder nut to crack. For one thing, the 50 states can choose to tell the Feds “Go Stuff It”. No, they haven’t, but they can. Furthermore, the US Citizens can tell the various leeches: YOU! Out of the pool! (And we’ve only just started).
Sadly, the one thing that will, inevitably, end the farce is what Iron Maggy said. Eventually they run out of other peoples money to spend. And we’ve just hit that wall. Even the Chinese have caught on. So try as they might to get more money to spend, it just isn’t there. The USA is so far in debt that all we can do is beg the Chinese for a rise in our Credit Card (presently about $250,000 per person, or about a $Million for the typical family of 4. How we gonna repay that on minimum wage?) while the EU is worse (more retired earlier on bigger Socialist Gravy Trains). And Japan? They are looking at THEIR piggy bank and finding it stuffed with US Treasuries and US Mortgages.
So basically, the only real money pots left are the Rich Oil States of Islam, and they don’t play well with others when it comes to ‘wealth redistribution’ or China who is just way too savvy to ‘spread the wealth’ as they are busy collecting it.
So while I’m continuing to fight the good fight on Global Warming, the simple fact is that we’re so far down The Road To Stupid that we simply can’t spend any more on Socialist Daydreams.

Hate to disagree My Friend but they already have in many cases, going back to the beginnings of this great country (Civil War? Wyoming during the ridiculous Fed imposed 55MPH edict?) and THAT could be the Global Socialists Achilles Heel. They really do not understand our structure. 99.9999% of the people in the US, much less the rest of the world, do not know there are 51 constitutions that we are governed by in this country. So much for government run education! That said, while the States must and do act individually, they must coordinate their efforts to have true impact. The real story, of course completely ignored by the MSM, of the election in Nov. is that now 38 of our 50 states are now mostly Republican. @ur momisugly this same time in 2012 it’ll be even more, I believe. And it only takes 34 to amend the Federal Constitution. Yes, interesting times we live in….

I am also religious, a Catholic, but I’ m not at all happy with the vatican spending all that money in putting up one of europe’s largest private PV intallations, just to be politically correct. The Carbon Sense Coalition today said that Australia must not renew its Kyoto Agreement.
The Chairman of “Carbon Sense”, Mr Viv Forbes, said that the current failing agreement was signed without due diligence by Kevin Rudd and should be referred to as “Rudd’s Folly”.
